  1. I've more or less figured that out along the line
  2. Well I guess until I can get a forgging/flipping/ heavy lures setup I'll just have to stick to lighter lures I have to spool tension set with no side to play and moderatley slow lure fall when i release the spool.
  3. I'm using the discontinued Stren Sonic braid. If I'm not mistaken its 4 strand braid which doesnt help the digging in. For lighter lures I usually have my magnetic brakes set on about 4 1/2 out of 10. I have to crank it up to 7 to get a decent cast with heavier lures but I'm kinda killing distacnce at the same time. I was told that abu garcia rods tend to run a little stiffer than other companies, so when I saw a M veritas for $60 I couldn't pass up on it. Considering my very thin wallet another casting rod isn't on the horizon anytime soon, especially since I'm in need of a spinning setup.
  4. I was fishing the Evolution GrassBurner that I got form LTB. Could'nt find the exact weight but its still pretty heavy
  5. What power rod should i use? It probably is the line
  6. I've had alot of trouble casting bigger bulkier lures such as 3/4 ounce buzzbaits. Whenever I try to make a harder, farther cast my spool puffs up a little and stops midcast. Not a huge backlash just maybe 2 or 3 feet of line. My rod/reel/line are as follows- Reel- Daiwa Exceler 7:3 LH Rod- Abu garcia veritas 2.0 casting 7' M fast action Line- 30 lb braid I think of serveral things. My reel isnt properly set up, I'm using the wrong rod, or my casting thumb is at fault Thanks for any help
  7. If you're fishing murky or stained water leaders are unnecessary. If you're fishing clearer water with reaction baits such as crankbaits and spinnerbaits leaders are optional. With slower moving lures like Jigs, t-rigs, wacky rigs a fluoro or mono leader will help with line visibility. the use of leaders also depends on personal preference
  8. http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/berkley-trilene-big-game-12-lb---1175-yards-monofilament-fishing-line#repChildCatid=440952 1175 yard spool for less then $7. I paid 8 bucks for 300 yards of Trilene XL
  9. I don't know about Altamonte in particular, but in the greater Orlando area you could try the urban ponds. http://myfwc.com/conservation/freshwater/fish-orlando/urban-ponds/ There are a bunch of lakes in the Altamonte, Winter Springs, Maitland area. I'm pretty sure all of them have some kind of bass fishery.
  10. The line I have on is Berkley Trilene XL and I had a 300 yd spool of it. My reel takes about 140 yds of #12 mono. I could strip down most of the old line and spool on the rest of the new mono at no cost basically EDIT The mono has been on the spool for more than half a year and I've never used line conditioner so the memory is just absurd. Yes I know line conditioner helps, and I'll buy some eventually, but rn respooling is a cheaper option.
  11. This might be kind of a newbie/ dumb question but what do you guys do when your reel starts to look underspooled after alot of fishing. I have #12 mono on a baitcaster and it's on an all around setup so I do alot of fishing and retie and tie on different lures quite often. So little by little the amount of line on the spool has gone down. Is this something to worry about? Or should I just fish it until the mono is worn out and then replace it?
  12. IMO fish see the fall as a time to strike and the lift as a slightly aggresive move by the lure. This might sound stupid, but oh well
  13. If you're targeting whatever bites, 98% of the time you'll catch some kind of panfish. I've got bass on live nightcrawlers in the middle of a school of bluegill
  14. Welcome to the forums. If you want to do some saltwater pier fishing there's Sebastian Inlet. It's a 2 1/2 hour drive but worth it. For freshwater fishing, It's Florida, you can find bass in puddles.
  15. Doesn't that get slightly expensive?
  16. the picture was more then enough for me
  17. Don't ask how, but I managed to get a rusty treble straight into the meat of my left thumb past the barb. I still don't know how I managed to pull it out without damaging something and getting tetnis
  18. But make sure it's not tight to the point where the line doesn't come off easily
  19. I started off fishing with a spinning reel with the handle on the left and then moved on to LH baitcasters. I've tried fishing with RH caster, and I simply cannot work the lure properly plus it feels completely unnatural.
  20. I caught either a Tilapia or some kind of carp, not really sure, on a 2.5 inch squarbill
