  1. Identification is correct, but it bugs me when people lay out fish on boat decks or towels. It removes the protective slime coating and is bad for overall fish health
  2. I plan on having this as an all around spinning setup for a longggggggg time. Unfortunately I don't have a boat, so your escapade probably won't be repeated
  3. So based just on corrosion resistance, the new reel seems like a better idea.

  5. My problem is I don't have any in the first place, just need a reason to buy the nicer reel.

As I mentioned the older President is on sale for $10 off. I could use the coupon and get the older reel for $40 or the newer for $50. Should I spend 10 bucks more and get the newer reel? It seems like almost the whole reel has been re-worked and I think it's something I should snag while I can
  7. I am completely inept at reeling with my right hand. I started out fishing with a LH spinning reel and moved on to LH baitcasters. I've tried fishing with my friend's RH baitcaster, and let's just say my lure action was less than sub-par and extremely akward.
  8. I just noticed that DSG has a new model of the President Pflueger spinning reel. They're selling the older model for 16% and I was wondering what's different with the new lineup besides looks. Am I getting anything better by paying $10 more?
  9. I caught them on swimabits on Saturday and on spinners yesterday.
  10. How is everyone doing? We currently have 40 mph wind with 70 mph gusts and rain, rain , rain.
  11. I'm out on the first evacuation order.
  12. That's like trying to cast a 1 ounce swimbait on a ML rod and 4 pound test.
  13. I've told this already, but I had a 5 pounder break me off a foot from shore when my braid rubbed off on a rock 4 inches above the lure. Losing a $12 LiveTarget popper was no fun so I tied on a spook and cast back out. What do you know, after two missed blowups and good fight I land the exact same fish with my first lure hooked on the underside of the mouth. Apparently that bass was aggressively feeding in that corner of that pond.
  14. Some close calls indeed. You can never be too relaxed outdoors, especially with things like storms and lightning.
  15. It was 85% coverage down here but I was stuck in school so no eclipse or fishing for me ???
  16. If this isn't what you need- then going along with what everyone else said, just send it in to DVT or some other reel maintenance/repair shop. I learned that the hard way. I tried to take apart just the bail assembly to clean out a bit of sand and ended up with a spring half way across the garage.
  17. 11-2 was the only time I was able to get out there. I almost never go midday fishing.
  18. I spent 2 hours fishing a golf course from 11 to 2. Only thing that I got was a bucketload of sweat and a very nice sunburn. Florida heat is just BRUTAL.
  19. Good luck! I need to get out there one day
