  1. Slightly off topic, but I've figured out a solution for that. The ponds around here that I fish have bluegill/sunfish as the main forage, hence the gripper teeth patch is very sharp/rough. I learned that instead of grabbing bass directly by the lip, arc your thumb over the teeth and grab the fish right under the tongue structure.
  2. Keep it that way. Winters are beautiful down here, but summertime is absolutely brutal. Great bass fishing and all, but no brown ones. Do whatever everyone else said
  3. Well, im not in
  4. That's exactly what I mean. I was thinking of using that rod as a jerkbait/topwater rod, but I just find the sensitivity very bad with mono. It would be very easy for me to switch out the reels and try fishing that rod with braid, but what applications could I use a 7' M fast rod with braid. I use my spinning rod for weightless worms, small spinners, light t-rigs, etc. I use my main baitcaster for jigs, some squarebills, bigger t-rigs, some topwaters, and spinnerbaits. I wanted to upgrade my third rod to be able to fish lures that would work better on a lighter rod and mono. I would also prefer to keep it below $100. I appreciate all the suggestions, but money is tight and I was looking to get a frogging/flipping stick within the next few months.
  5. I'm currently toying with the idea of upgrading one of my rods, that being my first casting rod. My first baitcast setup was a Daiwa Exceler paired with a $45 daiwa rod from academy. I have the reel spooled with #12 Berkley Trilene XL, and compared to my other rods with braid, the sensitivity is less then sub-par.My other 2 setups are as follows: 6'6" M Berkley Lightning rod shock with a size 35 president pflueger a 7:3 Daiwa Exceler paired with a 7' M Veritas 2.0 (I find this rod stiff enough to fish heavier baits) My third reel is a 6:3 daiwa exceler and im trying to figure out what I should purpose it for. I need suggestions on what to get this rod for and what rod to buy. My max budget is $100, preferably less
  6. Eh, leave the poor guy alone, hes got enough to worry about.
  7. I understand that concept. I guess I kind of worded it wrong, everyone pays the same $15, just for some people that's more affordable then for others. Nobody realistically should or has to, its their choice to pay whatever they pay.
  8. Lemme just say, I'm fourteen and I live and breathe for fishing. My friend is also fourteen, and hes the one that got me into fishing. I can't really get a job right now, so even a $10 lure really cuts into my savings. I've gotten like 90% of the baits I have rn from LTB and my 3 setups have come from either the flea market here, FFO, or ebay. I understand that everyone has to make money somehow, but why should I have to pay $15 for a single lure.
  9. Well, with temperatures still in low 80s down here, fishing is ok. Its supposed to get down to the low 50s Tuesday night so we'll how that goes
  10. Well, things went completely south and we didn't go at all ?
  11. Yeah I was thinking of starting off with squarebills and then moving on to topwater closer to sunset. Like I said, those ponds have pretty much 0 pressure. I know the owner of all the ponds and property so getting permission to fish there wasn't a problem.
  12. So a buddy and I are going to hit these ponds for about 2 hours tomorrow, and I was hoping you guys could provide some suggestions on what lures to use. These ponds are situated on what used to be a gold course and I've only ever seen one person fishing there, so I don't expect a pressured fishery. I was thinking a t-rigged craw or worm on a spinning rod, and a squarebill or spinner on a caster. Open to any other suggestions.
  13. Eh too broke and its really hard to get hired at my age
  14. Yeah, I just sort of assumed. I have absolutely nothing against catch and cook and sometimes do it myself. I guess since most people are catch and release it's kinda the mentality I've picked up a little.
  15. The kind of places that they know you won't find them
  16. I'll 3rd that, fishing was insanely bad last month. My friend said he would walk out of his house and smell all the dead fish from debris choked and oxygen starved ponds after the hurricane. September really seems like the hottest for me, fishing was absolutely brutal from mid August through the end of september. Im waiting for the first real cold fronts, hopefully the activity picks up a bit more. I honestly can't remember when was the last time I did any kind of crankin.
  17. Well this pond is a simple residential pond, maybe 1 acre. The whole summer the water temps have been in the lower to mid 90s and the fish were just extremely sluggish. The bottom is still chocked with some kind algae covered grass, so no crankbaits or jerkbaits, or anything with exposed hooks. It's mainly been t rigs, soft plastic swimbaits, and : burned pretty close to the surface
  18. It was a beautiful day today by my standards, low 80s, partly cloudy and breezy all day. After getting out of school and doing some things I decided to spend the last hour and a half or so of the day fishing. In doing so I managed to find out why the Booyah Pond Magic is called magic. At a pond down the street I managed to catch 13 or 14 bass and 1 sunny on a white Magic in about an hour's worth of time. That being said, none of the fish were over 2 pounds, but it was still a big moral boost after catching MAYBE 2 or 3 fish a day at that same pond most of the summer. The fishing down here is finally getting to decent levels for me. I hooked every fish except one in the middle of the right side of the jaw, don't know how.
