  1. I want to rivet a metal angle to support the plywood casting deck. I am not worried about leaking rivets, because i will be coating the boat in truck bed liner.
  2. How can I add rivets to an aluminum boat. I will only doing this once, so cheap tools are fine if they will do the job well. Also i may add 5200 around them for added security thanks
  3. If it swims, ill, take it! even a log or a tree is better than nothing, because you get excited for a second
  4. haha, i lost a 6 dollar jig setting the hook on a submerged tree limb
  5. I recently purchased a 1968 Sea King 14 foot v hull. it came with a semi removable casting deck. It is in decent condition right now. The boat has some leaks that are very minor. I fixed most of it by JB Welding the rivets at the bow. The plywood is not sealed, so it is starting to deteriorate, along with the carpet. I want to know how hard it would be to do the conversion that the two boys on bass bound fishing did. I have the exact same boat. Thanks here is the boat modification i want to make Here is my boat
  6. looking to extend the power cords on my Minn Kota Powerdrive to reach the batteries in the back of the boat. How can i do this in a cost efficient way?
  7. What is the best casting reel that I can get for around 100-125? I will use the reel for jigs and am left hand retrieve. Seen some curds, smokes, and news for this price range.
  8. In this thread I will talk about my strategy to fishing docks. Feel free to add comments or suggestions. Docks can be a great place to find fish. I serves as a home for bass and small fish. The fish feel protected there. Docks are also a great ambush point for bass on baitfish. The best docks for fishing are ones with large surface area, made of wood, has a pontoon boat on it, and can easily be skipped under. Access to deep water fast is also a must. Don t underestimate the metal docks, or docks with out boats. Although less likely to hold fish, the still can. Here is a 5 pound bass I caught on a metal dock for example: I like to fish docks with several different baits and presentations. Swim jigs, skipping jigs, paddle tail swimbaits, senkos, wacky rigs, rattle traps, squarebills, walking baits and spinnerbaits are many of my favorite techniques. I do not typically fish all techniques in one day. Instead, i match the aggression level of the bass to the style of bait. The more aggressive the fish are, the more aggressive my baits will be. In early mornings or overcast fall days, i will throw the moving baits for reaction strikes. In tough conditions, i will throw less daunting baits like small swimbaits and swim jigs and senkos weightless. More active fish will not hold as tightly to the docks as less active. I typically fish the perimeters of docks with moving baits then pick off the ones tighter to cover last. I hope my experience fishing docks will help you catch more fish. After all this is what this place is about, right? Here are some more big dock fish from Pennsylvania where fish aren't typically huge.
  9. let me know how it goes and good luck. i found my fish in the liveliest hydrilla/liyly pad combo i could find and rock to sand transition in 5-10 feet of water with a drop shot
  10. heres my pb, i hand measured it to about 7.83 pounds
  11. ill do and yes I'm in a boat
  12. I will be fishing a 127 acre lake in Pa from 12-5 tomorrow. The lake has shad perch bluegill bass and pickerel. there are lots of docks. I have caught fish on docks from all sides of the lake except the left shallow bank. Also, i want to try to find an offshore school. swim jigs swimbaits and snakes usually work for the docks. what will work offshore and where can i find the fish
  13. Not in the market for one yet, but what is a good topwater rod? Looking to spend less than or equal to $75. I want to use buzzbaits, poopers, walking baits, whopper plotters, and other topwater baits. Ive heard that you can use cheap rods for this, because you don't need sensitivity. What are the optimal specs for an all-around topwater rod?
  14. Thought that I would start a thread where people could post any helpful tips they had. Whether it is tying a knot, launching a boat, fishing a bait, finding places to fish, or other tips and tricks that people have found along the way. Here's one of my tips: If you are fishing in an electric only lake with pickerel, and have a spare rod, tie on a crank bait or jerk bait and troll while going from spot to spot. You will get lucky every so often and catch a pickerel or a bass. Doesn't hurt to try.
  15. I know that 17 pound test fluorocarbon is best in this situation, but I am headed to a local lake this weekend and don't have time or money to get flouro to use. I will be targeting brush piles in creeks. the water was satined there last time, but clear in the main lake. I currently have 30 pound braid on my jig rod. it is a 7'3" MH Fast. I was wondering if i should stick with that, 15 pound mono, or 10 pound cxx. Thanks.
  16. Was wondering what the fish are most likely doing this time of year. Where are they most likely to be found. Also the weather is 65-45. Intervals of cloudy and sunny. The lake i will be fishing has lots of hydrilla, creeks with brush, rocky points and a hump. The lake is very pressured. what baits do i throw and where will the fish be?
  17. thats fine, thanks though
  18. ok Thanks, do you think its better than marsh creek?
  19. Thanks I'm fifteen minutes away!
  20. I have been using Voss .25oz cylinder drop shot weights. When i make a cast every time, the weight flies into the sunset. what am i doing wrong and how do i attach them. it cuts the line every time
  21. I will be traveling past the western most part of lake oneida tomorrow. Does anyone think i can catch a smallmouth there quickly from the bank?
  22. noticed that you are local to me, do you know if Marsh Creek has shad?
