  1. Actually you need to support only the reel, most rod should float without reel (I might be wrong here but I dumped my rod down water a few times to un-snag my lures and it always float)
  2. Are you buying or diy? The one that sold on Amazon should float your setup fine. I went with DIY route, by using pipe insulation 1/2" hole and cut to around 6" length. The float my set up just fine and thinner than commercial one. I also add leash clip using D-ring and Velcro so it easier to leash it.
  3. I learned not to catch any bass suck.
  4. Boring than Ned rig?? I like Fluke style bait, I have tried many over the year and like Yamamoto d-Shad the most, it is quite heavy and got salt in it just like Senko but not as durable as Fluke.
  5. There are many that I have not tired and don't think I'm gonna try pretty soon. deep crank A-rig flipping and punching
  6. I got go emotion 2pc casting Light power. There is quite a bit of backbone for light action rod and can cast 1/8 oz pretty good. I use this rod for 1/16 oz mushroom jig with Zman TRD.
  7. I'd better change my career. I caught another PB today not bass but d**n CARP. It weight at 24 lbs, snag on Husky Jerk 10. Thanks to my tatula 6'10 MHF and scorpion 70 I can steer him out of tree and brushes, believe me this beast pulled my Jon boat everywhere. oh thanks to two kayakers who lend me his net and snap this photo for me.
  8. Try to loose the tension knob and see if that grinding noise goes away. If this the case nothing to worry about.
  9. It can take up to an hour that why I only do mine once a year. Other than that I send to professionals. I might start deep clean bearing on shimano reel myself so I don't have to send my reels out every two years.
  10. Go easy if this is your first time maintenance the reel. The simple and require more often in to add a drop of light oil on bearing spool, one on the side plate and the other one on spool itself (I just use oil that come with the reel). How often? That depend how often you use the reel, some monthly, some every trip, but me when I feel the distance become restricted or sometime as long as a few months. Next would be worm gear, add heavy oil (I use grease) once you see it dry up, this might be done every 3-6 months. Next would require you to disassemble the handle side plate, I urge you to watch a lot of video how-to before you do it your own. This process would be to clean old grease around main gear and cleaning drag washer. I don't deep clean (wash) just simple remove old grease as much as possible with towel and tooth brush. I add grease on all gear, the plastic gear included. This can be done once every season but some might do this more often. The rest of the stuff, like deep clean bearing (especially daiwa reel), deep clean all inside gear including worm gear, I recommend using professional service like Delaware Valley Tackle (our site sponsor) some you will need special tool like bearing on spool and some c-clips. good luck and post if you need help
  11. You will be happy with your tatula MHF 6'10. This is truly all around rod, I use for everything's imaginable from LC SP65 (1/4oz) all the way to whopper plopper 110 (~1oz) and in between like 1/2 oz spinnerbait, chatterbait, zoom super Fluke and magnum Fluke, Senko/fat Ika. It is great for kayak and also skipping. The only thing that I don't use this rod is for jig over 3/8 oz with heavy trailer, the tip is too soft in up opinion. I actually just received another one I ordered from Amazon for this coming season.
  12. But if it does work or not suitable in his area he wasted the whole amount he paid. If he gonna buy the kit, I think the one with different varieties would be better.
  13. And we don't have that kind of program here in CA. Nice beautiful bass. I wish one of these day I gotta hold a bass like that.
  14. Since someone pull this thread out from the death. As of now They try to ban every fishing equipment with lead according to new bill AB-2787 2018. Am I glad to live in CA, time to stock all weighted hook.
  15. Those cheap kit mostly came from china where they use cheap hook/hardware and cheap paint. I'd rather buy individual used form flemarket here or when big retail store got their sale going on.
  16. I think this one is very simple. curado 50e and premiere get my vote as all around reel.

Paddle tail here, mostly Zman, paddlerZ and diezel but mixed in with other for color selection.
  18. Oh there are differences between curado and scorpion, spool bearing which is reg bearing and Japan AR bearing which is 16 bucks a pop from shimano website. Scorpion used to made in Japan, only this new version not sure about scorpion BFS and D.C, but those are still JDM (Japan domestic market)
  19. you might not be happy with scorpion 70 for real BFS. It can handle light lure but I would go anything 1/8 or lower.
  20. I saw that video they show in small tub?. Look good but not practical, I don't even use double Fluke that often.
  21. Agree with A-jay length is as good as weight. I too now rely more on actual length, not long hand length unless the bass is longer than 20". But you bass look pretty healthy so I guess 2.5 lbs
  22. No fishing for me this weekend, I guess. Water start dripping from sky and might last until tomorrow. It is still a bit chilly here after the warm feb month. BTW we got a bit of snow in our neighborhood a few days ago, talking about weird.
  23. You caught a lot of good fish there sir. So envy those of you in FL. SoCal is weird now it getting cold and I got a little bit of snow close to my neighborhood a few days ago. Still can't find no good fish around here. I should have moved to FL LOL.
  24. .

That a solid 4-5 lbs fish for sure. Congrat,
  25. Will see what he said, but look out on eBay. I think he's gonna list his there soon, over 200 of course but not much. I offered him part cash part PayPal but seems like he wants all cash. He got a lot of nice reels to be listed including core 100mg.
