Reaction To On The Water Rudeness
I was answering the second question he had, "Are there any reports of fishermen being murdered while fishing from their boat?" I should have quoted that line only. Sorry.

Best wacky rig hook for senkos
https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Eagle_Claw_Weedless_Hook_Bronze_5pk/descpage-ECLZB.html I have used the same Eagle Claw weedless 1/0 hooks for the past 2 months and had great success with them. They past the test for me when I was able to wrestle a Smallmouth that was just shy of 4 pounds to shore with one.

Reaction To On The Water Rudeness
Falcon Lake comes to mind. A Fisherman was shot and killed on that boarder lake.

Mono on a Baitcaster?
I agree with @Catt and @Raul about Berkley Big Game Trilene. Most of my baitcasters are spooled with 10-12# Big Game. The rest are spooled with 12# Kastking Flourokote or 30-40# Kastking Superpower Braid

Where did you catch them today?
On Sunday's river fishing session they were shallow hitting Z-Man Chatterbaits ripped through Grass and surprisingly resting on the bottom while I took a phone call They were also going crazy for a Z-man TRD Tubez hopped on the bottom.

Any Luck In Upstate Ny?
The weekend mornings were mid 40's and the Hudson was foggy. I fished mid-day Saturday after errands and the temps were low 70's by then. Nothing was biting topwater so I switched to a Ned rig and caught 11 Smallmouth Bass between the hours of 1:30pm to 5pm. Sunday I was at the river before 8am with smoke on the water I again had no luck with the topwater bite so I switched to a chatterbait with a fluke trailer. Got 1 Smallmouth before the action dried up. I switched to a TRD Tubez on a Shroomz jighead and got 4 more Smallmouth before calling it a day at 11am

Baitcasters; Right vs Left handed retrieve...
When I bought my first baitcaster I got a right handed retrieve reel because I am right handed. It felt natural because I was brought up on saltwater baitcasers that only came in right handed retrieve.

Spinning or Baitcasting or both
I have fallen in love with baitcasting. Before last year I was 100% spinning gear. This year I have gone on fishing session where I take nothing but baitcasters. While his statement about spinning vs baitcasters is true to a degree I would rather throw certain lures with a caster over a spinning reel and vice versa. In essence they both have their place. A typical day of Bass fishing for me will be a baitcasting set-up for top water, cranks and texas rigged/wacky worms. I also carry a spinning set-up for dropshot and ned rigs. I can also switch over to beetle spins and atomic tubes on this combo for panfish if the Bass bite is slow.

Zebco Omniflex Mono?
If you watch Realistic Fishing on YouTube Zebco Omniflex is he uses. Never seen him break off a fish during a fight. I have several spools of the 8lb and 10lb Zebco Omniflex at home. I haven't had any problems with it but I do prefer the Berkley Big Game line I picked up on clearance for $3 at Walmart better.

Nicest combo out there
That looks like the same sofa I have. Funny thing is if it is, that combo cost more than the sofa it's sitting on!

What are the general expectation when going on somebody else's boat?
I agree and feel the same way. I have met a lot of people over the years that invite my wife and I and it is BYOF and BYOB. Not the way I roll but to each there own. I also agree, gas money, help launch will get you a return invite. And 2 rods should be fine a Baitcaster and a Spinning set-up is usually all I need.

Starting a YouTube Channel
Jon B clearly loves fishing. You can see it in everyone of his vids. His editing skills are impressive but no amount of editing can fake that enthusiasm.

Starting a YouTube Channel
Here is my advice, you won't be able to please everyone with your content but aim to please the majority to be successful. For example the forum members here at Bass Resource are going to want something vastly different from watching a YouTube vid than the core audience of teenagers that subscribe and follow YouTube fishing channels. Make sure you have regular content, every 2-3 days is optimal. Things I see that make channels successful: Thumbnails with women or something crazy in the picture Titles of vids that say something like "I almost died" Responding to subscribers comments, even if it's a "Thanks for watching" Giveaways, lots of giveaways. Be sure to have that in the vid description that you are doing a giveaway Challenges Collaborations with other Youtubers Catch and cook of bizarre species. Having a good intro and exit motto. I watch EPF simply to hear him scream "What's up YouTubbbbbbe!!" Catch something and put it in an aquarium and then post video updates on it. Some of these things will rack up subs. A few will be a slow burn of steady subs. Good luck with your endeavor.

Do we all carry too much tackle for too many techniques
This Saturday was a prime example of packing too much. I caught 11 fish in 3 hours using a Whopper Plopper and then a Ned Rig once the top water bite dried up. What I used: 2 rods and reel combos, 1 Whopper Plopper, 2 Shroomz Head jigs and 2 TRD's (2 because I lost a rig on a bad snag.) What I carried: A bag full of top waters (Lane Changer, Torpedo, PopMax) Crankbaits (Squarebull, KVD squarebill, Rebel Bluegill, Red Eye Shad) Soft Plastics (Flukes, Senkos, TRD Tubez) Hooks, weights and bears oh my!

Am I the only one
No you are not the only one. I fish a lot of budget rods in the $60 range. I only own a few over $100 The reason is simple, I am accident prone and have busted a few rods in falls, doorways, car trunks, etc. If I lost a $200 or more rod like that I would have a stroke.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Got a wedding anniversary present, The Lew's Mach 1 combo. Field tested it on Sunday and it catches Smallmouth just fine. I am loving it so far. The Mach 1 appears to be similar in all respects to my Lew's Tournament MB (dual brakes, tension knob with audible click, 10 bearings) The differences are it is a graphite frame not aluminum and 10 pounds of drag instead of 14 pounds. I can really bomb a cast with it but it does take more adjusting than my Tournament MB to avoid a backlash at the end of a cast. I already knew how the rod performs as I have another one I purchase on clearance at DSG for $35

Released my PB Smallmouth and she went the wrong way! Right past me and right into some rocks. She swam away dazed and confused... You can hear the lady who took the pic of me holding the Bass asking me how long they can stay out of water.

a bad day
Same here. I might need it more for some of the dangerous 4 legged critters we have around here. A woman in my area was recently attacked by a Coyote.

Telescopic Rods
I have one. It's one of the few Kastking products I have that I do not care for. On the con side: The rod has a combination of fixed and "floating" guides. The floating guides are not mounted on the rod and that's part of the problem. They have to be adjusted constantly. Any bend in the rod, including casting, tends to move them. It is a chore to get all the guides lined up once the rod is extended. Takes way too long even with the lines they have on the rod to help you. I would rather carry a 2-piece rod than have to deal with the set-up on this rod. On the pro side: Once extended it does have a 1-piece feel to it. It casts well and can handle catching a fish. Nice looking rod as well.
