  1. KVD L&L I also like the Reel Snot with the java scent. The reels I use it on smell like a cup o' Joe.
  2. It is hard to find a 6' medium casting rod. I have a 6' M Fenwick Eagle GT rod that size that gets a lot of use. I am going to miss it when it finally gives out as they don't make it anymore.
  3. I use a auto inflate PFD as I like the open back and arm freedom it gives me. Most fisherman vest style PFD's have the floatation material around the waist and mesh on top for freedom of movement while rowing and casting. That's fine but the floatation being around the waist messes up the way I sit in my ergonomic kayak seat. I follow the less is more rule when kayaking. Less stuff with me means less stuff to lose if I have an accident. 2 Rods, usually a baitcaster for cranks and a spinning reel for dropshot and ned rigs. All my baits and tools fit in a shower caddy I place in the cockpit with me.
  4. If you are new to baitcasters use mono
  5. I don't know about the OP but mine is still kicking! Just make sure to oil it up every few trips. Mine is on a Abu Garcia Medium action Vengeance rod.
  6. I like hybrids over straight Fluoro. The knot strength is everything and hybrids excel in this area. For low price and quality my favorite hybrid is Kastking Fluorokote.
  7. Call me paranoid if you want but what if a high speed boat hits you? Just wear the PFD all the time as you never know what life is going to throw at you. My son and I canoe on a river that sees a lot of jet ski and water ski activity. Best be sure we have our PFD’s on as these boaters are often looking backwards at their skiers and not at what they could run into. Even if you are in a small lake with no speedy traffic you could pass out from low blood sugar, sunstroke, etc and fall into the water. The PFD saves you from being a tragic accident. Just wear the d**n thing!

Parts been found just waiting on the guy to install it. Should be here soon.
  9. Well said. Wear Crocs and socks and learn the jellyfish float.
  10. Sure we can talk. My knockoff Ozark Trail hopper cooler works just as well to keep drinks cold for a day on the lake. Just have to make sure it doesn’t tip over... Oh and it was less than $40
  11. I was thinking the same thing but was afraid to ask. I have used baitcasters for dropshotting occasionally for the one handed approach you mentioned.
  12. I can swim. Pretty much taught myself before I ever took a class. As I kid I had no fear of the water. Now I have a healthy respect.
  13. If Lew’s was smart they would make a special edition BB1 reel painted White and Orange with a rebel alliance symbol on it. Star Wars fans would feel the power of the dark sides bait monkey!
  14. Pros: easy to transport. Cons: A one piece is better in every other way.
  15. Same here. Super Power all the way for me. I used to use Spiderwire and Power pro.

No it’s The inducer motor. The bearings are shot.
  17. Star Wars the last Jedi and Jumanji welcome to the Jungle. Saw them both last weekend. Liked them both.

-4 and my furnace isn’t working. Trying to find the part on a Saturday is not looking to good.
  19. Daiwa RG AB spinning reel $60 and a Powell Nuisance rod also $60 on clearance right now at Tackle Warehouse.
  20. Last year I used a 1500 size reel with 6lb mono and or 8lb Kastking Fluorokote line. I am going to try using a 2000 size reel this year with 20lb braid plus 8lb Kastking Fluorokote leader.
  21. I don't color my braid. When it fades from green or gray to dingy white I sometimes cut some off. Most of the time I leave it. I would rather rub the braid close to the lure with Megastrike than color it. Color of the line doesn't seem to change the bite like I thought it would. I was worried when I tried green or black mono back when all I fished was clear blue Stren. I never experienced a drop in catches due to line color and I fish clear water.
  22. I wear a trucker style baseball cap (Columbia PFG makes a great flexfit one) with a buff. If It gets real hot I take the buff off soak it and put it back on.
  23. I feel the same way. Others in my area do not. Someone transported their snowmobile on top of their Ford Focus http://poststar.com/news/local/snowmobile-on-car-draws-internet-fame/article_6ad53200-3208-5d4e-a5c2-638b6afd6d57.html
  24. Yum Dinger. Comes in all sizes and can be rigged so many ways (Wacky, Texas, Carolina, etc.) Close second is the Z-man TRD.
  25. I have had the same problem on one of my baitcasters. I was glad it was a simple fix. I check that nut from time to time to make sure its tight. Hope you enjoy the Assassin. It's my favorite reel.
