  1. I took stock of my rods the other night. I have Abu Garcia, Daiwa, Shimano, Field and Stream, Lews, Denali, Powell, St Croix, Fenwick, three teen, All Star, Berkley and Quantum plus an Ugly Stick or two or three. So no way I am using rods from 1 manufacturer.
  2. I caught 1 in Narnia and 1 in Oz then I woke up when Toto’s barking scared away all the fish. I wasted a lot of trips to Florida on salt water fishing. I should have been targeting big Bass on freshwater lakes.
  3. That’s only if you have a “bumper to bumper” warranty. Most car warranties are on the power train only. Honestly even a bumper to bumper bumper warranty is not going to cover things that go wrong due to driver negligence. What most people are looking for is rod insurance not a warranty. I would pay a bit extra to insure that if my rod breaks in the first 2 Year’s they will replace it for free. After 2 years I will be on the hunt for a new rod anyway and have gotten my money’s worth of the old one. Store like Dick’s offer this insurance when you buy the rod.
  4. Got some early holiday gift cash in time for the sale. Order placed.
  5. I have the Vexilar T-pod Sonarphone. Basically its the same thing as the Deeper. I like it for all the reasons you mention above. After having it a whole fishing season here are my pros and cons: I rarely use it from a bank. The fear of losing it has made me wary of casting it to places I can't retrieve it if needed. No wires in my kayak, canoe or boat is a plus. The battery on the T-Pod lasts about 4 hours without recharging. I have not had an issue with it going dead from a full charge. Using with a phone can be a headache. It does drain your phone battery faster than normal. I also find having to hold my phone to look at it is annoying. I had to rig a phone holder in my yak. Problem is I have to pull it out of the holder all the time to take pictures. It's more of a minor annoyance than a plus. I used to take a dedicated rod to cast the T-Pod a Med-Hvy rod with 30lb line. Carrying a extra rod with limited space is definitely a con. I have since tied it to my kayak with some paracord and let it drift behind me a little ways when I am using it rather than casting it. In essence I don't use it as much as I thought as I actively have to monitor it rather than a attachable unit like a hummingbird where I can just have it on and glance at it. I would rather spend my time with rod in hand.
  6. Funny, that's the same thing I say when I buy toilet paper in bulk.
  7. NC or Tennessee. I have vacationed in both spots and love them. I lean towards the Carolinas though as Tennessee is too slow for me. I spent a half hour on a checkout line as the cashier talked with everyone as she was scanning their items. It was all, "Y'all like that brand of shampoo? It did nothing for me." small talking, chatter. It was maddening.
  8. I fish primarily in this order: 1) Kayak 2) Shore 3) Boat 4) Canoe I prefer the kayak but I fish from shore after work sometimes when loading/unloading a kayak would eat up too much fishing time. I fish from a boat with my Father-in law from time to time. I own a canoe and use it when my son wants to fish. I will be using this even less as I plan on getting him a kayak as well.
  9. I used to be a gamer on both computer and console. I have been game free for 5 years and don't miss it. Unfortunately my son picked up where I left off.
  10. Truer words were never written. 99% of the fun of fishing for me is using my own gear.
  11. I am out of luck on these sales until I get some gifts of Christmas cash on Dec 25th Of course all the sales will be over by then...
  12. Didn't the Googan Squad relocate there?
  13. Got about 8 - 10" of snow yesterday. About 60 miles south where I work they got about a half inch of snow before it turned to rain. Unreal.
  14. You can order online for 20% off today and get free in store pickup to save shipping charges. I ordered a scale, got 20% off, used $10 Dick's cash and chose free in store pickup to save on shipping charge. Total cost was $6
  15. Rods: Spinning-St Croix Casting-Abu Garcia Reels: Kastking Lines: Braid-Kastking, Fluro-Kastking, Mono-Berkley Leader : Berkley Hooks: Gamakatsu Soft Plastics: Yum Jigs- Strike King Hard baits- Strike King
  16. Not me. I like trying new stuff too much. Same goes for reels. I have to say though my favorite stuff usually comes from 3 to 4 companies at the most.
  17. Haha I assume the *** is the number One-Three teen The fishing company and the age banned from this site.
  18. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY in a 5 story apartment building is where I spent most of my days. A crowded, depressing building full of mice and roaches. Lived there until I was in the 6th grade then we moved to suburb of Brooklyn that was right by the ocean. I liked fishing for snappers (baby blues) after school. My love of freshwater fishing came from the trips my parents and I took upstate to escape the concrete jungle. When the opportunity presented itself I moved up there.
  19. A great beginner non-fishing kayak is the Pelican Trailblazer. $199 not on sale, I have seen it as low as $150 during the offseason which is now. Plenty of YouTube vids on how to install rod holders on it when you want to mod it for fishing.
  20. Crocs when I am kayak fishing. Waterproof boots and long pants no matter what the temp when fishing from shore. One case of poison ivy or oak on the feet and legs while wearing sneakers and shorts was a lesson not soon forgotten.
  21. Another vote for the no music on the lake crowd. The sound of nature is the music I want to hear when I am on the water.
  22. Ditto. I found the most success with it when I used a Yum Swim'n Dinger.
  23. I agree. I want the fish to survive so it's a quick as possible landing, photo and release for me.
  24. I like options. I always have a spinning and baitcasting setup with me when I am on the water. My spinning setups are mostly for drop shot and ned rigs while Bass fishing and light weight lures for pan fishing. Baitcaster setups are for everything else. Crankbaits, topwater, Texas and wacky rigged worms, etc.
