There is no good solution. Your math is solid and you will likely draw your batteries down lower than you would like. Lithiums are in your future, but i here they are back ordered for the year. Modify the water you want to cover and perhaps anchor instead of spot lock ......I know you know this

The bad part of this pre-spawn is that 3.5 has been the biggest so far. The good part is that I haven't had one under 3 lbs. ......still have a few weeks before spawn hits.

Gents, I was lucky to find a camp on a fantastic trout fishery…..the only problem is that it feels like I am starting all over from the beginning. It’s been 40 years since I trolled . I have carried what seams like every pistol under the sun and settled on the Shield 9. For me the best is the one you are likely to have on you and the Shield is just more comfortable. In my younger years I always had a couple mags but now It’s less Rambo and more defensive, knowing I may throw one wide. .....Buy one you will want to carry and is comfortable

For spinning reels, I am a braid to leader guy. I have been moving to 1000,2000 sizes to save on weight. Never thought a couple ounces would make such a big difference, but it does for me if I was using mono and casting distance mattered, I would go to 2500 as the spool size helps with distance

Shakey Head doesn't work well in grass. I go to Weedless worm on DS with a cylinder weight or NEKO rig for similar effects

The warm water technique is for spooling it with FC or mono. Don’t worry about it with braid

When I got back into this sport I reached out to several well know reel repair guys and the 4 all said they work on far fewer Shimano's. None commented on castibility or anything else......just fewer problems

Not to beat a dead horse...... You could but there are better options. I had a Tacoma and it pulled my 1775 impact just fine, but it was only a couple times a year for 50 miles. If it was more often, a greater distance, or heavier boat, I would have bought a ford or chevy. Good luck

......and it is going to get worse I was chatting with an importer yesterday. He told me the 2 biggest problems are shipping containers ( Amazon and Walmart bought almost all available units in the world) and worker shortage at major ports ( Workers being paid not to work). He said it is likely that it will take a couple years for the supply chains to be returned to normal and with all the extra cash, inventories are depleted. Guess I will be waiting to upgrade a lot of things.

Sunline DA is now the only mono I use.....I checks all the boxes for me
