Bleeding Bass and Mountain Dew
All great points! ..........but given there are many products like Catch and Release that we know work, why do the soda. I don't think doing the dew makes someone a bad person, but given there are known better options, why? When the scientist recommend getting them back in the water fast is better than soda, follow the science? Truth be told we really don't know the fatality rates of released fish, so much of this is speculation.....But we do have the data from tournaments that does support products like C+R

Any smokers out there(?)
I have a small walk in humidor for my cigars. I still don't consider myself a smoker...? I started with an occasional cigar in the service, then nothing for years, until a couple of my athletes won National Chanpionships, and a parent brought celebratory cigars. My OCD kicked in and now have several years worth of 10 year old Habanos. That said, I haven't bought cigars for myself in a couple years.

Braid and the Texas Rig
I was a huge believer in braid to FC. A couple years ago, in preparation for a trip south of the border I started going straight FC on BC. Today it is tatsu or invisx. Spinning set ups are still braid to leader.

Heavy duty bungee cords for dock lines?
They actually have a pretty high break strength since they are wrapped in nylon and many marinas recommend them for their floating docks that see wave action.

Pfd’s and comfort
I know this isn't what you were looking for.......but I have one on the way. I have a mustang and it is great but I don't always were it. I am coming to terms that I will never have the balance I once had and my Mrs want me to wear something when I can return to fishing..... I plan on trying it next week when I start pool theropy. I know I have to much time on my hands ? https://www.amazon.com/Onyx-Inflatable-Boarding-Kayaking-Fishing/dp/B074VCX5MY

Ned rig with weed guard
Before adding a weed guard to a Ned, I would go to a small child rig. Very similar results without the frustration

Is there anything a DC reel can't do?
I have a few DC'S and lime them especially for extreme wind. They also help a novice BC'er have a better day I find that short cast......flip and pitch to be better on traditional reels. The topic of distance also comes up, but truth be told my hook up ratio really drops on my longest cast, so I just don't make them.

Olympics
It can actually go back several generations in some countries.

Olympics
I really prefer Winter over Summer and politics are killing this for me. One rub I have is that many athletes representing other countries are also American citizens. Many more have gone to school at D1 universities with American coaches, and most on scholarship. It's kind of hypocritical!

Will a baitcasting rod and reel setup help me with bank fishing (over a spinning rod and reel)?
I would try to get off sure...if possible. A kayak, Jon boat, ect....... I find it hard to power fish from sure and truth be told, with the right spinning rod you can cover a good amount of techniques

Bleeding Bass and Mountain Dew
.....sorry you missed the joke. The term "global warming" refers to "early thoughts"....since the theory and language has evolved over decades. The same is true for the mountain dew theory ....never mind

Bleeding Bass and Mountain Dew
I think Taku also still believes in global warming ??

The fishing shirt.
I really prefer the vented shirts, but have gotten used to a hood. ....clearly a first world problem

Heavy duty bungee cords for dock lines?
They make marine bungie cords that have a nylon sleeve to limit the stretch that might work. I have used short term on docks that required some play from the boat. Good luck

Post a photo a day!
My fishing is basically done for the year, but the Mrs kills it after a few glasses of wine on a Ned rig.

Random thought for the day
Does a fish know it's wet? Can you be held responsible for the thought that doesn't occur?

Bigger Smallmouth, bigger hook?
Always hard posting after A-Jay since there is seldom much to add. ......for me its easy. I have a couple set-ups based on depth and bait. My hook of choice for most is the VMC finesse Neko, but my so called bubba shot is thrown on a BC with 2/0 owner rebound bend, weedless TRIG. If I had to choose one it would be a size 1 vmc My biggest SM is just under 5 lbs

Silicon bunk board spray, be wary
Add a few silicone strips and have the best of both worlds. I have 4 on each side and there is just enough resistance to accommodate for a lapse of focus.????

Preferred treble hooks for topwater replacements?
I am largely in the A-Jay camp, but have also Really like the MARTIN'S Oshaunnessey (sp) bend https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Gamakatsu_Aaron_Martens_TGW_Nano_Finesse_Treble_Hook/descpage-NFH.html

New era rods
7' for me is pretty standard except for SB and JB and for those 6'10" get the call. For accurate cast the 7 works for me, for open areas a 7'2"/4" are feeling pretty darn good. Given the change in materials I don't think you can even compare rods of 10 years ago
