  1. SDJ.....Uni and I have used the one Shaw demonstrates. It has NEVER failed me
  2. This can be had when it hits on sale this Fall and fishes far better than its price point https://www.alphaangler.com/collections/spinning-rods/products/wrench-7-medium-spinning-rod
  3. ^^^^this. On a similar note make the Uni knot your terminal tackle knot and use it as the connection knot in your spinning gear
  4. ......there is no shortage for the pros on the circuit ?
  5. ^^^^^add me to the 15 tatsu train. Checks all the boxes
  6. I am largely in the Ajay camp but find myself using the #5 as a great compromise when deciding between size 4 and 6. Works great with Jerks ! https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Gamakatsu_Aaron_Martens_TGW_Nano_Finesse_Treble_Hook/descpage-NFH.html
  7. When I had my shoulder rebuilt my PT guy was an avid fisherman. we reviewed my mechanics and made some changes to allow the joints and muscle groups to move with minimal twist . The biggest change was rolling the wrist during the cast. proper technique allows me to fish for hours without pain.
  8. One trick is to knob the end of the leader after your cut it with a lighter or hot object. It creates a small mushroom and prevents it from pulling through and makes up for any error when tying it
  9. What micro do you go with? Zman gets mixed reviews..thanks
  10. I liked my loomis SJR or MB Adermine. Both on 1000 vanford.
  11. For me it is like golf. Certain baits and conditions I do better with certain rods and boat distences. That said, my spinning setups are like my driver.....God only knows there it's going to land, but I get good distance ?
  12. Grandsons first solo (put worm on, cast, land) fish. Not need to teach him how to go through the gills to get a gut hooked fish off?
  13. I think that in a couple years, a 7' rod is going to be considered short. Today a 7'2 is my sweet spot for BC. <7 will always have a place for CB and TW. All I know is that with new materials a 7'6 jig rod will be my go to for open water bottom contact. On a side note and a bit off topic, I do think it is possible to outcast your hook-set ability?
  14. Over the last couple years and with some observations of others, I have noted that I often set a jig on the “absence “ of a feel. I didn’t realize I did this until my partner as me what I felt and my reply was “nothing”. In that moment my hookup ratio improved. I still struggle and not as proficient when my concentration is off. Mindful/ Mindless, what ever you want to call it ?
  15. ....not argumentative at all. It fished it along side the GLX/ jig and GLX/MBR and it felt heavy and not as balanced at the GLX. I think the sensitivity also goes to shimano, thought some complain of the GLX reel seat. That coupled with the Shimano guarantee and the breakage history of MG, hept me away. If you were talking Flatside Special or some of their spinning rods, that would be different. Don't get me wrong, it's a very good rod......Just not for me..Good Luck
  16. I know I am in the minority here....but I think there are better rods for the money that do not have a breakage history and easier replacement policy......and I own a few MB rods
  17. ^^^. If I don't get a roof of the mouth set, I end up going through the gills to get it oit ?
  18. I have had more unexplained breakoffs with smackdown than I can count. I contacted the sompany....received some replacement spools and had similar results in 10#. 30 # faired better
  19. FG for micro guides. Uni-uni for spinning gear.
  20. My BM was being sent from Jamaica, that said there is lower quality BM sold on the island ?
  21. Blue Mountain, but expensive and hard to get authentic. I also like most medium blends from BRCC https://www.blackriflecoffee.com/ I also like to support companies with good missions
  22. Tatsu will spoil you with Invisx a close second.
