  1. I have a few DC reels. I use them in windy conditions with baits that catch wind…..conditions that I should probably head back to the dock. I also keep one for guest that say they want to use a BC but really aren’t proficient with them. on a side note, I am not nearly as accurate with them as I am with my thumb. ?
  2. I look for excuses to use my 100 calcuttas
  3. Before I I go weedless Neg, I go to the child rig…..just freaking amazing
  4. Sun and the "expiration date" of the trailer tires are their biggest enemies. When buying new tires, check the date! I see a lot of bad tires on trailers that have less than a couple hundred miles on them. ......and yes 303 is one of the few conditioners that do not harm tires
  5. NEKO hooks might be the combination you are look g for
  6. “Best, Worst, Fastest, Slowest,” are just a few words that that should be banned on forums ? Can you tell the difference between. 400 rod and and a 150? Absolutely! That said, I believe it is best to elevate on jig rods........ There are also some general purpose higher end rods that can actually save you money. The loomis GLX MBR is the Swiss Army knife in my quiver
  7. This time of the year I usually have 2 BC and 1 Spinning set up for JB. Mid summer, usually one but a couple with jigs take their place. Nevermind DS set-ups in summer and fall : )
  8. Calcutta Conquest 100 Antares
  9. .....also, Alpha make some great multi-purpose rods https://www.alphaangler.com/collections/spinning-rods/products/wrench-7-medium-spinning-rod
  10. If you want high end with a limit of 200 you should look at the classifieds. You can get lucky if your patient. Megabass adermine and G Loomis NRX are top shelf. If you can stretch you budget a little the MB whipsnake is a lot of rod for the $$$$
  11. I prefer vented high collar shirts, that said summer weight wool if quickly becoming my go to. Marino wool is expensive but is often on sale. Minus 33 makes some of the best shirts I have worn in the Winter AND Summer and doesn't require evaporation to cool like many synthetics. I am slowly replacing all my cotton T's with wool.
  12. I have a camp on a 200 acre pond that is known for monster trout. The best thing is that you can go out when ever you want and I find myself goi g out for a lot of short periods instead of my traditional longer periods when I go for bass at home. It's just different
  13. Buy used! You can get a ton more reel for the $$$$$ Post an add in the classifieds
  14. If you are loosing larger fish on lighter weight rigs at the boat I believe it is because they still have to much fight in them. Most of my larger fish have come in light gear and I am so afraid to loose them that I slow way down and play him before getting close to the boat where my rod, reel and line work best. When it got close you loose the benifits of proper gear.
  15. If you think it's the rod, go with a MBR flex and call it a day. The tackle involved is very similar to a light weight DS set up...Do you have the same problem with loosing larger ones with DS? Truth be told this is the first time I have someone with this problem. How are the hook sets with the smaller ones? Roof of the mouth?

    My Mrs carries a 9mm shield and a Lady Smith ( 5rounds)
  17. I have a few DC' s and like them, but I am more accurate at shorter distances with a non DC.....personal preference
  18. You will run out of money before you run out of great options. At the top of my list in no particular order 100 conquest calcutta. I look for an excuse to use it. Anteres...grab for short to med cast with med weight...it just balances great on the my preferred rods. Met MGL....Incredibley universal DC'S for wind and when my mind and hands fatigue. Good luck
  19. that is one of my set-ups and it gets used often! It also has doubles as a small SB rod, weightless Wacky rig,
  20. one of my DS setups is the 842 but bump up in power for a 1/2 ounce bait.
  21. I have one on my nrx and everything about the combo is great. It balances, throws light weight baits a country mile and palms lime a dream. It is my favorite Neko setup
  22. I am using the Calcutta Conquest 201 and the Antares non DC.....for that bait the calcutta all day long and twice on Sunday's ?
  23. First Marine Corps birthday 1979 I was fed the cake! Happy Birthday leathernecks!
  24. They definitely do that. My son is NH SP and gets a hell of a deal on all Sig gear
