  1. Hard to distinguish between two manufacturers ratings. I prefer a MXF for senko style bait.......fish just swallow them.
  2. Think I may try to spray some Pam on my hooks and give it a try!
  3. I just picked up the hook 5 combo with the navionics chip for 375.00 from TW I am on 2 major lakes in NH and neither are on the standard maps
  4. Howdy Folks, I am trying to use 1 dedicated crank rod. I seldom throw deeper then 12' and am lipless about 25% of the time I am looking at the Loomis 843c, MMF and 845c MH MF, these got my attention because I can get them for 115.00......any input is appreciated. Is there another rod for similar money that may be better??? Thanks
  5. Spinning gear is 10 lb Braid with various FC....usually 6 lb in open areas FG for leader connection when I have time, uni to uni on the boat. Uni or improved clinched at the hook. Seen to many tie the Palomar wrong and loose fish. For me it is also hard not to overlap the line in that knot....bad eyes
  6. I know this is a silly question, but is there a difference in the brand you use to back FC or braid?. Also, does the diameter of mono effect the reel speed, Thanks in advance, Al
  7. Last Summer I was wondering the same. Then I used a friend's dedicated CB setup. That sold me!I always enjoyed CO'S BUT love them with the right gear... I
  8. When I want volume, I go wacky. When I want something larger it's a Trig This yr I suspect I will be using a Ned rig a LOT more, but will use a TRD for its durability.
  9. Casting rods and seldom throwing anything over 3/4.....mostly 3/8 and 1/2 Very clear water, mostly open water, never weeds
  10. Truth be told, my universal set ups have been 10 lb Braid with various FC leaders and I have been happy. Next Spring I am going to a dedicated jig ( seldom over 20ft on a MHF) and dedicated 3-10 crankbait set up (MMF). Also just picked up 2 shamano CI4's. What line recommendations do you have for the jigs and crankbait? Thanks in advance, Al
  11. The group I fish with have never complained about wind knots and they run 10 to 20 lb PP.....not saying it doesn't happen, just haven't witnessed it in the last 2 yrs
  12. Applologies in advance for bringing up a much debated topic. My budget is 250.00 +/- per reel Looking for a jig real and a universal crank bait reel. Can someone help narrow the search? Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving Al
  13. In calm conditions the FG Everytime else uni to uni....no need to complicate it any further
  14. The Palomar is an easy knot to tie, but more difficult to tie correctly..... While many anglers love it, but those that make their living fishing, shy away If I had to go with one knot it would be the improved uni
  15. @fishnkamp, what gear ratios would you use for the deep MH and Crank M/M. Also open to suggestions on line. Baitcasters will be new to me, but given I can go daily in the Summer, I suspect I will pick it up fast. Side note....I tried a cameras and really liked it
  16. Appreciate the advice My gear is Lews and shimano and don't mind spending a little extra to get gear that will last
  17. Howdy Folks, My OCD is kicking in and I am trying to sort out all my equipment needs for the Spring. I have a Med/Xfast spin caster that I have used for all finesse baits And, a MH/fast spin caster that I have used for everything else.....both have 10lb braid and I vary the leader. I am looking to buy 2 baitcasters and want to call it quits. I am thinking a M/M for all crankbait, but don't what year ratio to get Also thinking about another MH/F baitcaster. Given I mostly use finesse and soft plastics, crankbait, jigs, small surface baits (3/4 Oz) and Chatter baits, what is the best way to maximize 4 setups, 2 of which are spinning......gear ratios would also help. Apologies in advance Thanks, Al
  18. Green and brown is my most popular flooded closely by black with blue and green pumpkin.
  19. This question comes up on all forums.....Guns to Cigars. For me it is simple, when demoing reals, there is a feel I am looking for. Sometimes it cost 100.00, other times 200.00. I find I don't pay extra for subtle differences, but do for quality.
  20. I too will be in the market this Winter.....after all the rigs I tried this summer a 7+ med, moderate will in my sights
  21. Thanks guys.....really appreciate the I put. Makes perfect sense....
  22. Howdy Folks. I have been doing a lot of reading and I am tying to find out why many are using 30 and 40 lb braid for bass in large open areas.....no weeds, trees, docks ect. Heck my 10lb braid is perfect.. What am I missing Thanks, Al
  23. NH BPS still does, but amazon prime is cheaper
  24. Spend a little more and get the blue. that said, I usually use braid with flouro leader.
