  1. I just went through the same and it was between the Loomis GLX and E6X........i already had other Loomis rods, so the feel was second nature
  2. As long as you match your leader to the size and style of jerk/surface daily you will be fine. Truth be told I run the absolute smallest leader I can and catch more fish than my counter part that usually runs 20 lb braid and 15 lb leader...I go through a lot of 4 and 6 lb leader
  3. A 1 piece will usually be thicker than it's 2 piece counter part.....it will usually cast and retrieve better. If transportation isn't a problem get the 1 piece
  4. Given you want to do soft plastics and buzz bait, I think the 7 ft to be more universal.......in my mind he 6'6" would make more sense in river, streams, ect
  5. Yup, the more I look, the more I am considering the E6x 845c and looking to GLX for a jig rod,,,,thanks guys
  6. Thanks gents, trigger pulled on the CI4,,,hard to ignore 40% discount
  7. Gents, I am getting ready to pull the trigger on 3 casting reels. I have tried the ci4 and loved it, but am wondering what would Daiwa's equivalent be, and any feedback on both would be appreciated. Apologies for a rookie question, Al

  9. Line is cheep, use it for backing. The last thing you need is trouble when on the water
  10. You are asking a lot from one set up. Given rattle traps are in the mix, I would look at the 6.5
  11. This is the first time I heard anyone say the ci4 didn't through light weight bait well, but that is a separate issue. After a lot of demos, a 6.3 is what I am going to. Just personal preference
  12. This is what I was thinking, until I saw the Fiber blend and it got my wheels turning...thanks
  13. Folks, I am lucky to be able to get Loomis rods at a 40% discount. I am putting together a crainkbait rod for shallow to medium depths. GLX 845 E6X 845c Fiber Blend CBR 845. Any input is appreciated. The Fiber blend has peaked my interest. Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas Al
  14. If you just want a fish on the line, it is hard to beat a 4" senko wacky rigged
  15. I don't have tons of experience, but know what I don't like.....spiderwire. PP and 832 in 20 lb test
  16. I have 2 C14's on the way......love them
  17. That is what I am thinking,,,,main line
  18. Folks, I really prefer using braid and varying my leaders depending in situation. I am dedicating a setup for crankbait ( MM/F) baitcaster.. I know most say mono, but I hate everything I have tried. Was looking at Armilo and was wondering if it might be a good compromise in this situation? Thanks for any input....also open to other useages for this line, Al
  19. I am in the same boat....since I want to limit my rigs to 4, I am going with the 6.3. The 5.5 is a bit limiting.......for me I just want one CB rod
  20. For versatility 15 to 20 lb braid. Uni to uni would work great for 4 to 12 lb mono or FC. I too like power pro
  21. If I was going to do everything with one set up, it would be braid and swap out leaders to accommodate what you want
  22. he only reason the FG is hit or miss is if you don't finish it correctly. If you Google "FG knot failures", it is always in the hitches or tag end. I use it when I am using a long leader and the knot makes it back to the spool
  23. I feel the same about the double uni....no right or wrong answer......but it is not as strong as the Uni or Albright and to achieve the same strength, the number of wraps have to be increased making the knot bigger....
  24. All my leader is FC and use 10 wraps, it is just easier to remember. That said, the Uni is the only know that has never failed me. The Palomar is very popular, but I have seen it daily more than any other knot. It is because folks don't pay attention to keeping the line parallel throughout the knot.
