Listening to music while bass fishing
By myself, no music With my fishing partner, no music With someone I envite on to balance the boat, no music With my family they can listen to both country or western, very low.? Since I am still adjusting to new hearing aids, almost everything is a distraction ?

What a morning!
Woke up at 0500 and while making the coffee I knew I was going to catch a 5 lb’er. There was zero doubt and I never get this feeling. Got to the boat and filled a live well (first time this year) and added Release Me. Changed the battery in the scale and something told me to go to a spot I haven’t been in 3 years. I was not drawn to the obvious spot, but one 30 yards down. Ten minutes later I feel something, then think I set it on a rock. There was no movement and I started to move the boat to try and get it unsnagged. As soon as my foot touched the TM it started taking line. Truth be told, it wan like a small Bowfin I caught last year. My big concern was that I had a NECO on a ML spinning setup with a 6 lb leader in a rock infested area. Almost 10 minutes later, it’s in the boat. 5.2lbs and the only fish I caught all morning. There will be a little extra in the collection plate this week?

As a lefty if I get a right hand reel is there any reason I need to switch hands after casts?
The struggle is reel.....get it! I was was in the same situation and used to switch hands, but it was always awkward. I found that I could set a hook far better with my right, so that wasn’t going to change and left handed reels are plentiful. Dont look for the hole in the donut. If you want to reel left, it works far better for me.

12# Trilene
I hate leaving line and hooks in the water......especially shallow. That's why I always have some type of water shoe on then in lakes. The only time I had to go to extremes, I moved the boat to get slack in the line, then wrapped the braid around a cleat and put the trolling motor on 6. A boat carries a lot of inertia and will do a fine jog on straightening a hook.

Mono or Fluoro leader
I have gone to strait braid when possible. I do use a lot of Sunline Shooter Defier Armilo Nylon for mainline and leader. I am getting away from FC leader

Drop-shot vs Tokyo
Truth be told, the dropshot isn't the first setup I reach for, but yesterday I deticated the morning to using it. Surprisingly I got a fair amount of 3 pound SM, then noticed my senko was only about 4 inches off the bottom. I then remember I had a few Tokyo's on board and decided to try them given the similarities. I had the same results if not a little better and I felt comfortable throwing it on a M BC'er. I see myself reaching for this more often......Anyone else have a similar experience? Have a great day, Al

Funny Fishing Stories
The first time I fished out of a canoe, I WAS 10 and with my uncle. We were in about 10 feet of water and fly fishing. I was in the bow so I couldn't see him. 15 minutes in, he flipped the canoe! He planned this earlier in the day and my dad was close by in another boat. The lessons I learned that day were invaluable and my days in the boy scouts paid off. I was then able to take the canoe out by myself. ......lessens learned the hard way ?

Bank fishing dos and donts.
A call to your local fish and game could head you in the right direction

NRX 852C VS GLX 842C
It will fish heavier than its spinning counterpart. I throw those baits all today long. Truth be told, I may look for another as I throw a lot of baits around 1/2 ounce

Bank fishing dos and donts.
One of the best pieces of advice I received when falling back in love with the sport was to go to a pond that you knew you could get 50 bites. It didn't matter the fish. Rig it up wacky and get to know what different bites felt like. It really help ?

Some Days!
Since misery loves company, I feel a little better knowing I am not the only one with those types of day. Sorry about the rod......that I have not experienced ?

Anyone go leaderless?
I wasn't, but am now, no leader, except for dropshot.

Finesse rod & reel
Does the 150-200 include the reels too?

G Loomis 842/852 and Shimano medium casting rod comparison.
I have the GLX you mentioned and it is fantastic. A true joy to fish. It doesn't throw the lightest of baits as good as a spinning rod, but paired with the right reel, it's close. I use braid or braid with leader. The shimano is good, but falls short in feel, and sensitivity. Truth be told, I love MBR'S and seldom loose fish

Spawn in August?
Every year I am surprised at how many pre-spawn fish we catch in July and the beginning of Aug. My lake has always spawned in stages, but a few just party longer ?

Treble hook removal ?
Today my partner fell and hooked his popper in the back of his hand and didn't want to go to the hospital. I remembered this video and a minute later, POP. Works like a charm and pain free. A little hydrogen peroxide and good to go. .....I knew watching all the fishing videos on YouTube would someday pay off...

Merrimac River NH ?
At that time of the year, the Bow power plant might be on.....if so, head on up. The return water attracts a lot of good sized bass and the spawn may be on

Tokyo Rig
I have been playing with it, but like you say, we are limited in the areas to throw it. Seems to get caught on everything. I too would like to here from someone who has had success
