  1. after taking a closer look at the map, the little section down by the dam looks like a highland reservoir might. steeper banks, less shallow flats ,extended points etc.regardless of what you want to call it in the middle section you see some nice juicy channel swings, two nice drains running up int a large spawning cove.A submerged road bed running along the steep side of a point etc.several interesting things to check out.
  2. ive fished nockamixon and would consider it a lowland type reservoir. a little deeper than i would picture a classic lowland but certainly not highland.
  3. im with ajay. if you have a little wind or clouds hard to beat a walking bait especially if bait fish are high in the water. if its dead calm a slow twitched popper can sometimes pull them up.
  4. complicated for me. when i was younger (53 now) i wanted to catch every fish in the lake. if i didnt have a good day it was ok but not a successful day. as ive gotten older, life has gotten more complicated , work more stressful, free time more precious.now i understand what the old guys meant when they said it was nice to get out.But i still wanna catch fish but i am able to enjoy the challenge. when i get skunked or only catch a couple little ones it makes me even more determined to figure out why. i truly enjoy tyring to put the puzzle together.thats also what i love about bowhunting. the failure makes the success even better. but if i go too long without getting into some good ones i go to the river and put the hammer on some smallmouth that are mean and aggressive.lol
  5. yeah we do.believe me i wish i could too but thats just not the rules and i understand why.the thing that sucks is we live on the chesapeake bay so alot of the tidal rivers and creeks offer good fishing. and while i use my electric boat on parts of some of them its obviuosly less than ideal so you pick your option.
  6. siebert for open hook, outcast for weedless owner blockhead ewg for texas style.
  7. let me school you guys on electric only lakes, lol I live on the maryland PA line. There are 3 electric only lakes near me in PA. they are water supply lakes and you can just lift your motor , they are small about 500 acres so no big deal. there are 3 lakes in maryland that are my main fishing lakes. theyre electric only and good size about 3000 acres. they are electric only and you can not have an outboard on the boat. there is only 1 ramp on each lake you are allowed to launch from. all the guys who fish these lakes seriously have specialty boats. electric outboards ranging from home made to the latest technology. most have ray, torqueedo or elco electrics ranging from 48 volt to 72volt systems. because of weight purposes most of us have converted to lithium batteries to power our rigs. most of us buy tracker style boats with no outboard or gas tanks or big john boats and then custom make decks storage etc from aluminum. ( think tiny boat nation stuff) this all results in specialized electric boats that cost from 15to 30 plus thousand dollars.
  8. menace grub, caffiene shad, rage tail craw, cutr worm not swimming it just texas rig and fish it in the grass.
  9. for sure. if i was to buy over again i may go that way. when i bought mine torquedo was the only option. im happy with it but think the battery is way over priced.
  10. yeah when i made the leap torqeedo was the only game in town. the goood thing is its an all in one package,
  11. absolutely . lithium is a must and i would go with a 24 volt single battery. i fish the susquehanna alot in summer from a kayak. i use a torquedo because i often fish alone so i put in and the motor upstream to where i wanna fish the drift back down go back and forth etc. ive used the same setup a couple times on small lakes and it was enjoyable. i still wouldnt want to be without my boat. when its windy , fishing bigger water etc . just more comfortable to fish out of for long periods.
  12. i have one of those 3 drawer plastic things you buy at walmart full of old plastics. i usually keep them for a year or 2 because i sometimes circle back to them. then theres the pegboard in the garage where i keep back stock of things i know are gonna go quickly......it never ends.
  13. people are idiots.
  14. thats the tough part for me. the northern fishing, minnesota , upstate new york, wisconsin , just fantastic. but i hate the cold and dont wanna spend 6 months of every year not doing what i want. i love florida in winter but dont think i could tolerate summer down there. hopefully i hit the megamillion and can have several homes, lol
  15. everybody is different but i looked at that rod and to me it was like a spaghetti noodle. of the rods talked about so far the megabass orochi and expride 7ft light are my favorites. i own the whipsnake, shakeyhead , and the shimano and like them all. although since megabass raised the price 50 bucks its a little tough to swallow.
  16. well you know you did the right thing. in the long run the kids will be better off not being exposed to that behavior. ive been divorced with a young son and at the time thought it was the worst thing in the world. my son prospered because we were both able to put him first in our decisions even if it wasnt best for us. im now married to a wonderful woman who i feel is my true soulmate and that we were put together by god. as far as the job just persevere things will turn around you cant keep a good man down.
  17. mow is the time of year whem we used to really hammer them on the sting ray grub. as others have said they are just a slightly different version of the ned rig. 40 years earlier. even ned himself told us that his system wasnt new.
  18. the 76 is a more moderate blank which i like because i use it for 3/4 football jigs carolina rigs etc. the more moderate tip helps keep fish pinned when they jump and shake those heavy weights. I have 2 of the 72 medium heavys. thats because they are a great all around rods. seem like fast actions to me i use mine for worms, jigs , soft swimbaits, spinnerbait etc. my go to rods for general bass fishing.
  19. thats why ive never bought any super high end rods. i usually stay around $300. i know if i ever break down and get an nrx im gonna want a rod locker full of them and im gonna spend way too much money.
  20. ajay that is genius!!!
  21. the swammers do work. they do have a good rolling action. they work well for me in warm water when fish are aggresive. when the water is cold there are better options. i also really like them for swim jig trailers.
  22. yes i really like it. i can use it for open hook drop shot as well as texas rigged roboworm.i think it will be excellent for your uses.
  23. same for me. ive found i dont need to hit the deeper baits near as hard to get a good darting action. more subtle and slower jerks seem to make the bait work better and get more strikes.
  24. thats funny. i fish in maryland and pa also and fire tiger is a producer in boyh stainned and clear water for 30 years. just goes to show alot if it has to do with what your confident in.
  25. thats the kind of stuff i mean. like show the whole process. these are the seasonal conditions, these are the weather and water conditions. heres the type of location im fishing and why. heres my lure selection based on the above conditions. that type of thing. now i realize not everybody is gonna watch that type of video because its long, but to me if the content is quality i dont care about the time.As WRB said there is no substitute for time on the water but these kind of educational videos give me some things to think about and experiment with and a base to work off of to find what works for me under those conditions.
