Dropshotting Question
I have a built in pool which the wife loves and I have no use for.however it does serve as a good test tank.roboworms seem to need a little bit of a taut line to Stand out ,they still get plenty of bites.if you want baits that sit horizontal or even slightly nose down try reins bubbling shaker or any of their zman baits.

Tracker 1448 Grizzly custom build for bass, panfish
You'll love the 1448 like you said more of a bass boat functionality.casting deck trolling motor etc.as far as your outboard if it's dependable and fits I'd run it. That's my #1 concern .your not racing ,your waters aren't huge.you can always get bigger motor later if you feel you need it.

Smallmouth And The Rapala Xrap
I like the #8 xrap. Although for water under 50 I like the pointer better.the xrap seems to work better fished a little faster when the a ter is a little warmer .(50-60)as for color try some natural ones first but if they aren't working try the clown or hot head or hot steel.sometimes with smallies those brighter colors will flip the switch.

Do we all carry too much tackle for too many techniques
I think that is very true.location is everything. then there is type of presentation, meaning something moving fast , slow etc.i want to have a couple types of baits to cover most situations im likely to face.but if im fishing a deep hump I may catch them on jigs trigged worms trigged creatures Carolina rigsetc. they all would probably work the key is fishing the lure where the fish are at the speed they want much more than color profile etc.and like tom said I have favorite baits for certain situation that work for me that other guys probably wouldn't even own. but we all catch about the same numbers at the end of the day.

Yeah I probably bring more than I need but I always have that what if in the back of my mind.also the last couple seasons I've forced myself to try some different lures and techniques just to learn about them.plus I like tackle.lol

Where should I move to?
I live right near the susky in PA and I love fishing that river.I hate the taxes here though and the winter.so I'm looking to be somewhat of snow bird.looking for a small place in probably south Carolina or Georgia.I think if you move south good your gonna miss that great northern fishing.

Tracker 1448 Grizzly custom build for bass, panfish
im similar to you although ive been fishing since I was a kid ( im 48 now) but I don't fish huge waters and don't see any reason to spend 60k on a boat just to catch some fish and throw them back.i bought a grizzly 1656 with a 25hp fourstroke mercury a couple years ago. with the way the decks are in those boats you don't really need to do much. I put a bow mount and sonar on the front deck, did a little wiring for those and bow and stern lights.bought some side mount rod holders from bass pro carpeted the decks and that's about it.i have about 6k in the whole thing and I fish anywhere I need to no problem. low cost low maintenance and easy for me to launch and put away in the garage by myself.

Advice for shallow water angler moving out to the deep stuff
I'm trying to get better at deep water fishing too, unfortunately my lakes don't seem to have a lot of "character" in the depths.what I mean is you don't see a lot of humps drop offs ridges etc but I have found a few things that have worked for me.one thing I have learned is to trust the depth finder.if it tells you something is down there it's there. It may or may not hold fish but the finder doesn't lie.

Best value Side imaging unit with bottom contour ability.
One of the things I like about the Garmin,it will record of of data on the internal memory but I bought a simple sd card for $20 so I can view my maps on my computer

Best value Side imaging unit with bottom contour ability.
I fish a lot of the same waters you do ,Susquehanna being my primary but I fish the lakes during the closed season.I bought a Garmin chirp series si last year.all the chirp series have quick draw which is garmins version of auto chart.also on the garmins Marburg and muddy run are included on the built in maps. I've made some maps of octoraro pinchot and some other local lakes with the quickdraw. It takes a while with electric motors but it gives you something to o when the fish aren't biting.

Drop shot question.
I'm not a drop shot expert So I'll let someone more knowledgeable answer that .however I will tell you that a Carolina rig does not suspend your bait off bottom unless you use a floating bait like z man or something.I used to be under that assumption too until I tested some Carolina rigged baits in my in ground pool.the pretty much stay on bottom except when hopped.

Colors
a lot of those are specific to the manufacturer. in other words one companies sprayed grass is anothers mowed grass etc. then you have reaction inovations which likes to name there baits like something from a xxx movie. I just disregard the names and look at the colors.
-
Colors
yeah im with A-jay on this one. I find it difficult to believe that a bass will not eat a green pumpkin worm but will eat a green pumpkin purple flake worm. for most baits I try to stock a dark color(junebug) a neutral one (green pumpkin) and a lighter one (watermelon) . those are examples there are variations and exceptions but to try to sort out all the deatails and variations of color is mind boggling to me. I tend to focus on location ,presentation and speed of lure before worrying about the minute detail of color.

What are your football jig weight/depths?
When I'm fishing a football jig I want it on bottom .period.I don't worry about drop speed etc.also a lot of the lakes I SE Pennsylvania are pretty shallow ( I live there) so the heavy weights aren't really necessary but when I fish in MD it's common during the hot summer to fish 30 feet plus...and some wind and a 1/2 or 3/4 is useful.
-
LINE CHOICE FOR DROP SHOT
that's kinda what I was thinking. im mostly looking to fish 20-30 feet and probably almost vertical. I was gonna go atleast 1/4 probably 3/8 maybe ill even go up to 1/2. I mean your not worried about a slow drop like a senko or fluke. you just want that thing glued to the bottom right? so that you can twitch your bait in place without moving the sinker unless you intent to?

LINE CHOICE FOR DROP SHOT
ive recently started fish a lake near me that is deep and clear. more of a highland type reservoir than the typical shallower weedier lakes im used to fishing. anyway from talking to some guys familiar with the lake dropshoting is a vey productive technique.I currently use braid with flouro leader on all my spinning rods and for the small amount of time I fish a dropshot it has done fine, but I was wondering if straight fluoro would be a better choice for more serious dopshoting.

Beaver/creature Vs Worms
I llike a creature bait a lot of times if I want some bulk, like in dirty water or thick grass.beavers seem to be best for me in spring like a jig when the fish seem to be on crayfish etc.i like them for flipping and pitching heavy cover as well. having said that ive caught tons of bass in summer grassbeds on a 10 inch ribbon tail worm too so I guess you don't always need the bulk of a creature.

Anyone else kind of a jerk?
As kind of a different perspective ,if I'm struggling and ask someone,( which I usually won't unless I know them or they approach me) I won't do what are you catching them on but more like what depth were you fishing? Or were you fishing on the main lake or in creek arms etc. I don't nat hem to do the work for me that's part of the fun just give me a little piece of info to point me in the right direction.

Deep cycle battery?
Ok I know there are some battery gurus on here.I fish electric only lakes so my deep cycle batteries are my main lover source.I run 2 24 volt motors on deep cycle acid batteries .I was wondering if agm batteries would be a good upgrade for my needs and what are the advantages and disadvantages.also if they will last longer per charge etc.

Loomis
yes the better st.croix rods are made in the us.imx are nice rods at a good price. if I wasn't fishing ltb that's probably the rod line I would choose.glx are very nice and I wouldn't mind payimg that price for one or two but when I think about redoing my whole arsenal at 400 plus a rod I just cant come to grips with it.
-
Loomis
To me and its only my opinion loomis doesn't separate themselves from the pack until you get to the glx. that doesn't mean the others are bad rods just that you can get other rods for the same or less money that are just as good.for ME again just my opinion some of the best rods under $300 are st.croix legend tournament.
