  1. Lotta big games last night. OU looked good. Georgia beating ND on road was big too. Looks like Clemson is legit again maybe. Big showdown this weekend in Starkvegas! ? Not sure I like our chances....... as usual. ?
  2. Tackle Warehouse has them and also has the perch color you're looking for. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-SWMBTSFT.html?from=basres
  3. That is all.
  4. Prayers for all affected by Harvey.
  5. I've wondered the same. I'm a big fan of these Double Take hooks that Stanley makes for their Ribbit Frogs. They fit perfectly on a Ribbit & you get a much better hookup ratio. I also use the these for Zoom Horny Toads, but it takes a bit more adjusting & finessing to get the hooks to fit just right. The new Zoom frogs look similar to the Ribbits in body shape, so I'm thinking these hooks might work. I'm holding off on these new Zoom frogs. They're quite expensive & I've got way, way too many Ribbits & Horny Toads I need to use before I start buying new buzzing frogs.
  6. Ok, @Catt I gotta ask. What has made you decide to try some braid? I've been on here long enough to know you're the biggest of fans for Big Game and that's all you use. ? FWIW, I've always been a fan of PP. I know lotta people dislike it, but I've tried a number of other brands and always go back to the original PP. 10-20 lb works well on my spinning reels & 30 lb works well for my baitcasters. Like you, I have no desire to tie on leader material - I use straight braid. Even my shaky head rod is straight 10 lb PP.
  7. Anyone ever seen or tried this trick for removing ticks using peppermint oil? Looks very effective. Luckily, it's probably been 30+ yrs since I've had a tick. But if I ever do, I would def try this first.
  8. That's awesome! Too funny. ?
  9. Why not use the Z Man Zinkerz or the Strike King 3x Zero if you're wacky rigging and wanting the best durability? I would think you could fish one bait all day with the durability of the elaztech material.
  10. I don't fish tourneys. I only fish for fun, relaxation and most importantly, therapy.
  11. 1. Water moccasin on a live minnow. 2. Egret swooped down down out of a tree and picked up my Spro Frog I was working thru some lily pads. Luckily it didn't hook its foot when it tried to fly away with it.
  12. No worries. Hopefully I'll find another job soon. Seriously though, shoot me a PM if you wanna meet up one day. I'd be happy to do a little pond hoppin' if I'm not busy.
  13. I've been sticking close to home last few weeks & not catching much. Got laid off few weeks ago so I'm trying to save money plus I'm in job search mode. Send me a PM - I might could sneak over to your area one afternoon for some fishing. Just don't tell the wife I'm not job hunting. ?
  14. Nice! You da man when it comes to smallies, no doubt. ?
  15. My vote is Stanley Ribbit frogs. A close 2nd would be Zoom Horny Toad. Sometimes the bass want a louder & lower pitched gurgle from the Ribbit. Sometimes they want the higher pitched, more subtle gurgle of a Horny Toad. For Ribbits, I'd highly recommend these Double Take hooks from Stanley. They work great.
  16. Small ponds & lakes can def hold big fish. My biggest 2 so far this yr have come outta small bodies of water. This one came from a pond not much bigger than a football field. Around 7 lbs. Bank fishing with a popper. This 9 lb 4 oz fatty came from a small 30 acre lake. And this 8 lb 13 oz came outta of a small lake about 20 acres in size.
  17. I had one of those a few yrs ago. It was my Grandfather's. After he passed, the Terry boat sat in my Grandmother's driveway for a few yrs & eventually a big tree branch fell on it, cracking the hull. I have an uncle (actually my Grandad's son in law) who loves to fix things. He decided to take it & restore it, even tho most everybody told him it wasn't worth it. Got no idea how much time & money he put in it, but he restored it very nicely. Put an on board charger on it, fixed the stick steering & put a 25 hp Yamaha 4 stroke on it. It was a sweet lil' boat. He sold it to me for $2500. Said he mostly restored it so we could have it in the family. After about 4 yrs, I sold it back to my uncle. I needed a little cash. He eventually sold it to a 16 yr old kid & his Dad that were looking for the teenager's 1st boat. Kinda wish I still had that ole thing. ? I can remember fishing with my Grandad outta that boat in Herb Parsons lake when I was a kid.
  18. 4.5" Luck-E-Strike Bass Magic hollow bodied swimbait. Baby bass color.
  19. @Leftymuk I'm more impressed that you were able to track down and purchase so many Helicopter Lures, and even to color match as @Team9nine pointed out. ? Either that..... or you've been squirreling away a stash of em for the past 35-40 years. Lol. They do look good!
  20. If I won the powerball, I'd have my own lake built - exactly how I want it built & where I want it built.
  21. Dang! Never heard that they've been found in Lake Michigan. It wouldn't be so bad if bull sharks weren't at the top of the list of attacks on people. I think the top 3 list of attacks on humans is bull, tiger and great white.
  22. I think I've heard it stated on Shark Week that adult bull sharks have been found as far as a couple hundred miles upriver. Scary thought isn't it. My mind wanders back to the days of my youth when we skied on the river a lot. Always thought our biggest concern was gators & water moccasins. But not sharks! ?
  23. I rig them like this (photo below) but without the weight. Hook point is on top with the hook point slightly buried or skin hooked (texposed); the flap of the tail is pointing downward. I normally use Gamakatsu 5/0 Superline EWG hooks (although a round bend hook is in photo) to give the bait a little more weight so I can throw it with a baitcasting reel. But you can use a smaller/lighter hook. You might need to add a small 1/16 oz bullet weight to give it some extra weight to make it easier to throw. The trick is to find the right balance - you want enough overall weight to be able to throw it decently, but not too much weight that it's hard to get the bait up to the surface and use it like a mini buzz bait. I would think a 3/0 or 4/0 EWG would work fine. Again, I usually use the 5/0 just to give it a little extra weight so I can throw it easier. Most times I'm throwing it around lily pads & grass. So I'm using a beefier set up: 7' MH rod with at least 30 lb braid.
