Zoom Ultravibe Speed Worms
flyingmonkie pretty much covered it. They work great fished as a weightless t rig on topwater - think finesse buzzbait. Make sure the tail is pointing down when rigging. This provides the best buzzing action. They work great like this around lily pads & grass. You can even kill it in pockets & let it slow fall in the gaps. The last couple yrs I've found them to work great on a light shaky head too, 1/16 - 1/8 oz.

Yes, There are Bull Sharks in rivers
Bull sharks actually swim upriver into fresh water to give birth. The pups will then stay in fresh water until they are large enough to leave the freshwater sanctuary and head into saltwater. I think it's to keep them safe from larger saltwater predators. Pretty sure bull sharks are the only species that can live in freshwater for extended periods of time. This also happens off the African coast on the Zambezi River. But the bull sharks down there are called....... you guessed it, Zambezi Sharks. There are also documented cases of freshwater bull shark attacks in the rivers of Australia. I'm not a marine biologist, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night (where I watched a lotta Shark Week).

Zoom Lures
Thing is, this new frog looks a lot like the feet on a Stanley Ribbit frog. Pack of 5 of those for $4-$5. And Ribbits work great too. So unless these Zoom frogs can last 10+ fish, I'm sticking with Ribbit frogs when I want that deeper gurgling noise. When the higher pitched gurgle is needed, Horny Toad gets the nod.

Zoom Lures
I got an email when they went up for sale on their site. Being a big fan & user of Zoom baits, I was intrigued. But $10 for a pack of 3 is a bit too pricey for me. They'd have to be super durable for me to give em a try. Especially since Horny Toads & Ribbit frogs are both so productive for me & much cheaper. I'm kinda surprised Zoom came out with a bait at this price point. One of their biggest selling points is productive soft plastics at a great price. I'd venture a guess that this is their most expensive soft plastic.

Favorite movie of all time
Just watched this movie again (twice) in the last week because it's on hbo or one of the other premium movie channels. I'd forgotten how good it is. Excellent film.

KVD 1.5 Square Bill - Really?
I fish SK redeye shads and squarebills quite a bit. My issue with the hooks has always been strength (as mentioned) - they bend way easy. Never noticed an issue with sharpness. I switch out to some quality Gammies or Owners, usually short shanks. I know where ya'll are coming from. Baby 1- is prob my fav super shallow crank but has the worst hooks. But that thing catches bass so well it's worth the extra effort & cost to change out the trebles.

Latest backlash pics thread
I've had 2 monster backlashes in the last week. Cut out the 1st & set the reel aside since it's time to be serviced. Then, spooled a new Lews with 12 lb Invizx & headed to neighborhood pond to get the reel dialed in. About an hr into fishing a crank, I hit an overhanging tree branch. Back home to cut it all out & respool again. That was about $18 worth of line gone pretty quick. Some days are like that. ?

16 of our youngest brave men died today- RIP
Really sad. Crash happened near Itta Bena, MS which is really close to where my wife grew up in the MS Delta. So we've been following the story. Prayers for the families.

Top water baits.
I've found this to be true most often as well. I've really worked on my technique with popper style baits the last couple of years. I get far more bites with poppers using a subtle walk the dog action (with minimum splashing & gurgling) and sporadic pauses, than I do with the more traditional retrieve, i.e. hard jerks which produce the loud popping/splashing action. I think this more closely resembles an injured baitfish on the surface that makes for easy pickings. Sometimes all it takes is a couple of little twitches after a 2 or 3 second pause to get em to commit. Some days tho, the loud popping and gurgling retrieve is the ticket. But not often in my experience. As for colors, I keep it simple. I mostly use white, silver or chrome. For dark colors it's black or dark green.

- Name?
Welp, my user name is boring and unoriginal too. Just my 3 initials. Let me add tho, that @GrumpyOlPhartte has the best name I've seen so far since I joined the forums 8 months ago or so. I will go on to say that he seems anything but Grumpy & I've enjoyed reading his posts so far. Now as for the OlPhartte part, he'll have to answer that one himself as I've never met him. ? Well @.ghoti. (Fish ?) here is another member that thought you were an Italian mobster. ?- What to throw when sight fishing bass around bluegills?
- The word giant been thrown around way too much.
Wow! ?- Back seat etiquette.
Yeah, that's def a bit rude to say the least. I've never had that issue when fishing with friends, unless we were doing it to goof around & mess with one another. Sounds like it might be somebody you don't know all that well. If that's the case, I would def NOT be inviting them on another fishing trip.- Swimming Fluke
Def use the screw in hooks. Gammy also makes a good screw-in type, keel weighted swimbait hook. They have some nice lighter weighted options on 3/0 & 4/0 hooks as well. Work great when swimming the baits in shallow grass. That houdini is a great color. I have multiple packs of the regular super flukes & swimming super flukes in that color.- "Swamp" Lakes
I used to fish a much smaller body of water that sounds very similar, although it had a limited amount of cypress trees on the northern end. It also was covered up in grass and lily pads. We actually had are best success fishing the edges of the lillies in the corners and turns. Best baits were weedless senkos, super flukes, hollow bodied frogs, etc. But our best technique was using weedless Zoom ultra vibe speed worms as finesse buzz baits. We'd buzz them right thru the lily pads and along edges. That was some good fishing, and it had some big gators too.- How Long Do You Typically Fish Your Fluoro?
I've used some fluoro for more than 3 seasons now.- Shakey Head Worm?
Zoom ultra vibe speed worm and Bass Assassin Tapout worm are two mainstays. Also use Zoom super speed craws, Zoom trick worms, Zoom magnum finesse worms, and Berkley chigger craws.- Litter, there may be hope after all.
???? Awesome idea!!! I should try this at our neighborhood pond. I gave up picking trash up out there 2 yrs ago - it was a losing effort. ?- Whopper Plopper = Crap?
Like MassYak85, I switched the hooks on my 90 to Owner and even beefed up to the 2x strong.
