  1. I picked up some of the original of this the other day. Anyone know what scent seems to work best if there is a "better" scent.
  2. So I was in a very similar situation a year ago. I fished but not often then moved to a location where I could fish more and yada yada yada now fish tournaments a year later. I went from an ok spinning set up and a silver max combo to a combination of 5 dobyns fury rods and Diawa Tatula/Ct/r reels along with my original setups. Add another few grand in tackle the last 12 months and here I am. I didnt go high end by any means but I kept my average over $200 and under $300 for the rod and reel. The more I fished the more I understood why rods have specific uses, sure you can pull double duty but you really get the full experience when you do it right. My thought is I can upgrade from here as I get better but I have enough to keep me in the game at this point.
  3. Google power lining Chicago- that will give you a good choice of videos. Instead of casting they shoot their line with an old compressed air tank.
  4. Power Lining for salmon is the absolute worst thing I've ever seen in fishing to this day. If someone can beat that I would be shocked/sad.
  5. I bought the large last year when I was starting to get into fishing again. 6 of the 3600's seemed like a ton of room....fast forward 10 months I have 18 boxes full and more in the mail should have went with a bag to hold 3700 series boxes. Also, there isn't much room for plastics in the compartments in the large either. I was looking at the new Bass Mafia bag but couldn't find a review about it. Also not sure if I want to drop $300 on a tackle bag and new boxes.
  6. Well aren't you just a ray of sunshine!
  7. Thanks everyone for your advice. This was exactly what I was looking for.
  8. See, most of my likes are clear. That's where I wonder if I go you're route or another direction for colors.
  9. Ive read a lot that colors are irrelevant for cranking and that you should really throw baits based on size. I was wondering if someone could talk more on that. Is size referring to depth only or actual lure profile? Also, I'm in Michigan and was wondering what colors I should take advantage of. Ive been buying mostly bluegill, live bluegill, pumpkinseed, perch and craw patterns. Most lakes here are clear so I've been trying to keep the patterns realistic. Should I be looking at any shad patterns or brighter colors? Maybe both? Like I said, I know that a lot of people think colors are irrelevant but if you are starting to build your collection I'm sure there are colors that are better than others in general. Keep in mind I'm very new to the art of cranking since I mostly throw jigs so if I made a mistake above please forgive me . Thanks for any help!
  10. I have the same Cabelas bag in Large for boating but it is now too small. I am moving to a Plano bag with 3700 series boxes. For shore fishing I use the cabelas waste pack and then swap out boxes as needed- this is insane right now too. http://www.cabelas.com/product/cabela-s-advanced-anglers-8482-waist-pack/1571764.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Ftackle-bags%2F_%2FN-1100378%2FNo-0%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104619780%3FrecordsPerPage%3D18
  11. seeing what others buy helps me expand my brands beyond my comfort zone. Your posts may not help you but they do help some of us!
  12. I threw some of these in my last order. I can't wait to try them out, the color is awesome.
  13. Are you in AK or MS?
  14. Did you get 20% off that Reynolds Wrap too? Costco better watch out!
  15. I wonder if this is why BPS is now basically a Shimano shop? They really don't carry many Diawa reels these days when it comes to baitcasting. If there is one thing I've learned about BPS it would be they really like their margin to stay high
  16. Nice! I'm still waiting on mine. This is my first order with them, do they send out tracking info? thx
  17. Exactly--a little nervous that I didn't choose 2-day shipping since I'll be out of town and the wife is going to see what how much I ordered. Also, really looking forward to my first order from Siebert Outdoors. I bought a good assortment of their jigs to toss around.
