Last week I was fishing in 51-53 degree water and bass were roaming in less than 8' in the Southern part of the state. Yesterday the areas we fished were 61-72 degrees and we caught some on beds on the hot side of Anna. Definately a good idea to carry a thermometer to give you a guess of the persentation speed of a pattern.

The PC app and the Web App are different. You stated the PC app comes with the purchase of the Navionics software and it doesn't any more-that means it is discontinued. You buy the map software now, you do NOT get NavionicsPC. The PC app is a program you downloaded and installed on your computer and is the one that you update while connected to their server. The Web App is on the Navionics web site and is not downloadable to a PC. Navionics keeps that updated on their site. You cannot download it. BTW, I updated my Platinum East card today and it took 4 hours. NavionicsPC doesn't take that long to update. I use a slow DSL connection.

The last I heard the PC app is no longer available, but is still supported so far if you have it.. It is replaced with the on-line Web App on the Navionics web site and that will be updated to add more features. Check their web site for info.

Recording is a feature to save all the unit's functions to play back on the unit just like the Simulator it has. There is third party software available to playback recordings on your computer. Additionally you can use those recordings to submit data to Navionics to correct any map errors. Check your manual to see of Recording is a function your unit is capable of. There is no such model as a 587iHD DS. If you have the 587 model it is the 587ci HD DI Combo. That model has a color display, internal GPS antenna, and has the Down Imaging feature plus dual beam 2D sonar.

Waypoints, Tracks, and Routes are in the unit's waypoint library. No where else. They will never be on a memory card usless you Export those to a SD card if you want to and have a copy. Your unit does not read your GPS data from the memory card and you do not need a memory card for any GPS function. The best method to manage your GPS data is with the free computer program HumminbirdPC. You Export your unit waypoint library to a memory card and load that data to the HumminbirdPC program. The best performing memory cards for Humminbird units are the Sandisk brand and the best of those is the class 10 speed ones. Normally a 4 GB is plenty large unless you record a lot. It's hard to find a card smaller than 4GB anymore. You can use up to a 32 GB.

You can still do the same two things then, maybe better. Post a picture of the back of the boat out of the water so the platform/s are shown in detail for the space between the platform/s and the outboard.

Two suggestions: A pontoon mount type trolling motor attached to the swim platform. The electric motors that are mounted to the outdrive cavitation plate-I assume the boat type is an inboard/outboard.

You don't loose your GPS data when you disconnect the power. You haven't seen very far, LOL When you save a waypoint, it is stored in the unit's memory in the Waypoint Library until you intentionally delete it.

I catch more bass on this one than crappie.

The most important thing is the correct mounting of the SI transducer. Start with the factory default settings. Choose a SI color that you can see the best according to the ambient light- I change during the day. Use the Sensitivity setting like a screen brightness control-adjust as depth and bottom hardness changes. Use the Enhance Sharpness setting to highlight fish. For Imaging, use a screen scroll speed setting that is close to the GPS speed. When you see something interesting, push the 4-way button to stop the screen from scrolling and make adjustments to improve the image if needed. READ the manual, and then READ the manual.

I haven't been to Briery Creek since Sunday. Just scattered catches using the down wind pattern. The water temp was in the upper 40's. No particular presentation was prevelent, use whatever you like.

It is the hook and it is the way you are rigging it. The most consistant hookups are with round bend type hook with open point and the Senko rigged with the hook perpendicular. The K type hook is a style used for cat fishing it functions somewhat like a circle hook.

You need to learn how to do updates so both units have somewhat current software so the INTERLINK will work.

The 798c SI Combo has an external GPS antenna. The 798ci SI Combo has an internal GPS antenna. I have the 798ci SI Combo. The ( i ) in the model number means internal GPS antenna. No ( i )= no internal GPS antenna. Additionally the sonar transducer has nothing to do with the GPS function. They are separate systems. They do work together to establish position of you save a waypoint based on a sonar return, but the actual waypoint is only GPS data.

A unit that does not have an Ethernet port cannot be updated to have one. It is hardware that is supported by software. INTERLINK is the only intercommunication connection your units can use. You can use two transducers that are suitable for the trolling motor. The XTM 9 SI 180 T which is the Compact Puck or you can use the XTM 9 HDSI 180 T which is the standard one for the larger display models of SI units. The HDSI is longer and has longer SI crystals--that produces a thinner SI pulse and gives sharper images. The HDSI will not give the 798 the 800 kHz capability though. Both of those have the extra internal shielding to combat possible RFI from the trolling motor, The transom Compact SI transducer does not have that shielding.

While you are in the cleaning up process, turn the transducer around on the home made trolling motor bracket. It is mounted backwards.

The sonar coverage specs are the same. 200 kHz and "up to 60 degrees". The 350 just has a higher resolution display. It's simple to find info about both of them ------- GOOGLE

Well it isn't solar or A/C powered. As for it's use, you will have to find that out when/if you get it. I don't have one, I just know they exist.

That would limit you to the SmartCast series by Humminbird.

You can add Briery Creek Lake for a shore fishing location also. The original parking lot/ramp area near the dam is a good shore fishing area with double digit bass caught occasionally there.
