  1. 2 tourney mb's and 1 speed spool lfs
  2. Thank you all for the comments and suggestions. I finally went to BassPro and called Minn Kota so I could get everything straightened out in my head. I've actually currently got a Power Drive Model. I thought it was an Edge, no idea why. I'll be upgrading to a Terrova 12V with iPilot for the spot-lock. Looking at probably a Hook 9 Chirp (no GPS) for the bow.
  3. I have both and I am in the process of switching all of my Lews (MB's and SS LFS) out for Daiwa Tatula's. Right now I have two CT's and just sold my Zillion TWS. The CT will bomb a weightless senko. I'm really impressed with everything about the reel. Super easy to dial in and very smooth.
  4. I always match mine up. It's more of an OCD thing than anything else.
  5. Try using some line conditioner. KVD has some good stuff. That's all I've used.
  6. Yeah, I have some Stik-O's and Yum Dingers. It's honestly a confidence thing.
  7. Any tips or secrets on how to get great deals on the GYB Senkos? Academy and Wal-Mart are the best prices I can find at about $6.50 per bag. I understand you used to be able to buy them in bulk but not anymore. Anybody know where to get the best deal?
  8. I thrown 3/8 oz jigs on the 734c
  9. I throw a weightless senko almost every time I fish. Like many others have said you have to watch the line, you will lose fish if you don't. If you don't actually feel the tap-tap, watch for your line to jump (or tic) or for it to swim off. If you feel the tap or see the line move set the hook immediately, every time. There are those off days where I'm fishing and you may have to wait a second or two longer to make sure they have it but you'll just have to feel it out. I know I'm not adding much to the discussion, I'm just reinforcing what others have said.
  10. I really only throw 1/2 ounce varieties. I throw the Rat'l Traps and RES's. I throw the mostly chrome and sexy shad because that's what's in the lakes I fish.
  11. Thanks for the heads up. Picked up 3 spools of Big Game.
  12. There are so many options I've narrowed mine down to just a few so I don't go crazy every time I look at them. Firetiger Junebug Watermelon/Blk Flake Red
  13. I'm tying the same exact knot with the same line and spit to a different hook and it isn't breaking.
  14. Yes, at the knot. No didn't check the knot or line, I usually just do it pretty randomly. I'll check the hooks with a Q-Tip just in case. I just thought it was strange that I'm tying the same knot with the same line. I guess I'll just check the line and the knot more often. That's what I figured, I was really just looking to see if maybe there was something I'm missing. I use a Palomar and I actually did pay close attention when tying because the line tried to get caught in the screw wire. Thanks for the responses. I was really looking to see if I missed something. I'll give them another shot this weekend and heed some of the advice and I should get better results.
  15. At the advice of many forum members I purchased some of the Owner Twist Lock worm hooks. I used them for the first time this weekend. First fish was landed normally and the bait was in excellent condition compared to the Gammy EWG's. Next fish I sent the hook on the line snapped. Retied and the same thing happened again. Frustrated, I tied on the old Gammy EWG for the rest of the day with no problems. Anybody have a similar experience? I really liked how the bait held up (even after one fish difference was huge) but now I have no confidence in the hook.
  16. I have a Tatula CT and Zillion both with the TWS. To me there is no discernible difference between a reel with TWS or without.
  17. I'll tell you this, I have both and I'm getting rid of the Lews to buyer another CT. The LFS was the first reel I bought when I got back into bass fishing about a year ago. Since then I've really jumped on the Shimano/Daiwa train. I do have two Tournament MB's that I really like. I will eventually switch everything out for Shimano/Daiwa.
  18. I have both and love both. You can't go wrong.
  19. I throw my weightless plastics on a Duckett Ghost 7' M/F. Lews Tournament MB reel. Works great for me.
  20. I didn't know the difference between cable and electric. Thanks. I don't think the Maxxum offers spot lock, does it? I looked on Minn Kota's website and didn't see it.
  21. Hey guys, just looking for some general advice to really see what I'm looking at. I've currently got a Tracker 175 with a Lowrance Hook5 and a Minn Kota Edge trolling motor. I've been reading up quite a bit on different options but I'm pretty overwhelmed and wanted to see if you guys could offer some advice or maybe point me in a better direction. Brand-wise I'm pretty set (but I can be swayed) on Minn Kota and Lowrance. Trolling motor - I really just want the spot lock and from what I've seen I can't get one for under $1100. Is that accurate? Do you recommend having it professionally installed? What does that typically run? Electronics - I want to keep the Hook5 that's mounted by the steering wheel but I want to get a larger unit for the bow. I'm looking at one of the 7's or 9's and just really looking for the Down Scan/Sonar, not really interested in the side imaging and don't need GPS as it's on the Hook5. It seems I can pick up a Hook 7 for $500 which seems reasonable to me. Thoughts? Same questions as with the trolling motor. Professionally installed? Sorry if this seems a little all over the place but that's how I feel about it right now. I don't know a ton about it and the more I read the more confused I get. Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
  22. Screw it in first, then rig like normal?
  23. Do you think you get any extra life out of the bait this way?
