How much braid on a Pflueger 6930 using mono?
If you look at the long run the braid will be cheaper. You can keep it on the reel much longer than the mono.

If you are using a mono backing with braid, you don't need much mono. I use just enough that I can't see through the line to the spool. The rest is braid.

Whopper Plopper 110 is here!
Fished the 110 this morning. No fish but it really seemed to plane much quicker than the 130. Pretty much as soon as I started reeling it started plopping. Seemed to me that it would plop at a slower reel rate as well. So far so good.

What rod next?
Thank you. My current jig rod is the 734C in the Fury series. What kind of differences would I see in the Champion XP series? I've heard a lot of good things about the St. Croix Avids. I bought the Mojo Bass 7'6" MH/MF and it left a bad taste in my mouth. I bought it for chatterbaits and it was very heavy and felt more like a F tip. Thanks, I'll take a look. I have no preconceptions about these rods because I don't own any and neither does anyone I know. I tend to stay away from buying used unless I really trust someone. I sell a lot of my things that are in great condition but just feel a little uncomfortable buying. I will consider it though. Well, maybe I don't need to do anything. I'll see what @fishnkamp has to say about the difference between the Fury and the Champion series and make a decision.

What rod next?
I have a lot of rods in the $100 - $130 range. Primarily Dobyn's Fury and Duckett Ghost with a BPS Carbonlite thrown in. What's the next step up from that without going up to the high $280 - $350 range? Is the Dobyn's Champion series better dollar for dollar than the Fury series? When it comes down to it I'm looking for the most sensitive bottom contact rod from $150-$250 range. I can't really use the number of rods I have now so I'm looking to move up a little bit and start buying nicer equipment. Thoughts?

Top Water Fishing
Wow. Thank you guys for all of the insight. Although I've never caught a fish on top water I do have some lures. I've got a couple of buzz baits, a spook (bought it for when striper are busting), and some type of pop r. I'm fishing this weekend so I'm going to see what I can do with them.

Top Water Fishing
I've never caught a fish on top water. Do you just throw top water under the right conditions (early morning, cloudy day, late evening) or do you look for actual top water activity? I fish a lot of early mornings but don't see much top water action so I have no confidence to through a top water bait.

Do you throw top water at the right times no matter what, despite no actual activity on the top of the water?

Should I take a trip to Texas ?
Don't sleep on Canyon Lake either. I fish there regularly. Very low pressure and I've been catching numbers. A few 3 and 4lber's in the mix and I've caught larger. I know they are there.

Want to upgrade trolling motor & electronics
That was what I was planning on doing but man are new boats expensive. I've got my eye out for a nice used boat but in the mean time I'm going to just do some upgrades on my current boat. I understand what you are saying. I have very little knowledge on the way all of this stuff works so it's a little overwhelming to me. I wouldn't mind upgrading to a 24v 80# trolling motor but I have no idea what it entails. I REALLY like the idea of linking the trolling motor and graph, but again I know almost nothing. I am aware of it. None of my close friends or acquaintances really fish so I don't know anyone that's really into this stuff that can explain it all to me. So I'm slowly reading and learning all of this stuff as I go.
