G. Loomis Advice
With American Legacy Fishing offering 25% off G. Loomis rods the wife has given her blessing on getting one. The nicest (most expensive) rods I own are Dobyn's Champion Extreme. The extremes are really nice but from what I read they are not in the same class as the NRX. I'm looking for some advice on which rod to choose. The one that caught my eye is the NRX 895c JWR. It has a 1/4 oz - 1 oz rating so it seems like it would be the most versatile. My concern is that it's rated xtra Heavy. I'm not familiar with the G. Loomis tapers at all. The rod will primarily be used for 3/8oz jigs with trailer and light (1/4oz and under) TX rigs. Any opinions and advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Kindness Still Exists
Today's world is different from the world I grew up in as a kid. I'm 35 but the world has changed tremendously in the last 20 years. If you only watched the news you'd think the whole world has gone to hell. Just yesterday about 45 miles southeast from where I currently live and much closer to where I grew up there was a mass shooting. When you reflect on these kinds of things the world seems like a really scary place full of bad people. What the hell am I talking about this on a bass forum for? I purchased a very nice reel from a very nice member of this forum. The communication was great and he even engaged me in some conversation. I thought the questions a little strange but nice enough. When I received my reel the I noticed the heaviness of the box; the reel I purchased is one of the lightest on the market. When I opened the box I found it jam packed with soft plastics, jigs, jerkbait, lipless, etc. This gentleman had no reason to send me all of this stuff but he did out of the kindness of his heart. Gestures like these keep my faith in humanity strong, they take away the negativity. It may be a relatively small gesture in the grand scheme of things but if more people made an effort to do things similarly the world would be a better place. I vow to pay it forward and become more like this man I don't know, with more kind gestures wanting nothing in return. Thank you @BasserJim

Are 5:1 Reels Becoming Extinct?

Thank you- How often do you lose deep diving crankbaits?
Can you recommend a specific plug knocker?- Another plopper question
- Another plopper question
I prefer it to be as calm as possible. Even small waves kill the action. I typically just work a steady retrieve, like medium fast, enough to get it ploppin'. I've caught more fish throwing it past cover and coming across it than in open water, but I've caught plenty in open water. The most productive time of day is early morning and late evening for me. Low light conditions.- Daiwa and Shimano
I'll tell you what seems to work best for me with Daiwa and Shimano. More brakes, less spool tension. I'll start with the spool tension where the lure is falling relatively fast and the brakes too high. Make a cast, adjust brakes down, repeat until you get what you want.- Jigs... I need a shopping list
I like Siebert jigs (brush, dredge, sniper) with a Rage Craw trailer. I also like the 6th sense hybrid jigs. 3/8 - 1/2 ounce for me.- Sprinker Frogs
I have to say I'm not super impressed thus far. First couple of casts and it started filling with water. It was taking forever to plane and for the tail to start spinning. It was veering off to the left and right. I've got a couple more coming so I'll see if there is some improvement with those...- New Shimano Curado rods
I have no experience with the rods but this was my initial thought. For a bit more looks like you can get a better quality rod. I'm interested to see what everyone has to say as I'm considering picking up a Shimano rod. I have mostly Dobyn's Champions.- Whopper Plopper rod help
I throw the 110's on MH/F and the 130 on H/F. I might thrown a 90 on a M/M but for me that's too light for a 110 or 130.- Mixed emotions
That's so crazy how different it is in different parts of the country. Here in south TX the bite is just starting to pick up after the sweltering summer days. It's just starting to get good. Water temps in low 80's. This is the most exciting part of the year (besides spawn).- Curado K - Initial Thoughts & First Trip
The first one I picked up this summer was just a one off guy selling on ebay. That was the HG. The 6:1's were fairly easy to find as I picked up 2 for my squarebill and chatterbait rods. I got them from one of the sites we can't mention and saw them regularly in stock on other sites. I'm not sure why but I've had a little bit of trouble dialing them in (maybe it's because of all the Daiwa's I'm used to), but man when they get dialed in, they are awesome. I posted on another thread that I won't be purchasing any more of the Chronarch MGL's because I don't think there is a $100 difference in the reels.- Sprinker Frogs
Yeah they had the colors TW didn't have. Thanks. - Best Lews Reel?
