  2. agree dnr could do a better job the bigger lakes can be challenging and are usually fished pretty hard
  3. some times I think we don't really realise that family and friends are the most important things. and is really what makes us smile the most remember the times with your dad or kids. money cant buy that. sounds to me like you have wealth many never find.. keep fishing, keep smiling, catch big ones lonnie
  4. when I was a kid me and neighbor boys trying to catch bull frogs by hand. heard a big splash I had a old fashion long eared black and tan coon hound. she caught one! I guess she was watching us. sad part, I guess she was smarter. go figure?

  6. I have older 393 ranger Comanche 1988 model with 1992 Johnson 150 doesnt have ladder. that model had curved plus tapered rear end doe any one know of boat skrap yards or where one might find a ladder to fit? not having any luck. happy new year thanks lonnie

  8. I got an 1850 gator jon boat with 90 hp Yamaha runs about 45mph rides good easy to fish out of. I especialy like fishing it in stump fields. o course I crappie fish as well. anchor on both ends. doesnt hang up on small stick up stumps as bad as my 393 ranger does and not scuffing fiberglass boat down side, you do loose a lot off stability when other boats are blowing by you and less storage my son also duck hunts out of it in winter months. if your looking for dual purpose. times are tough and there are good deals out there. be patient in you search. hope you find a good one catch big ones! lonnie
  9. I rebuilt all my carbs on 92 Johnson 150 wasn't hard at all. I first bought Johnson repair manual tho. lots of good info on what ever maintance you would want to do I know mine is older and smaller than yours but most of that kind of stuff really not that difficult read carefully and just do it. might just surprise yourself hope you get it fixed bad running boat no fun! good luck fishing this year lonnie
  10. hey guys love the forum been reading and learning a lot. I ve been fishing since young boy always had cheap gear but made it work last couple of years my cousin in Alabama been letting me use his higher quality equipment. wow what a difference!! I now own revo stx with g loomis imx medium heavy fast action 7 ft. going to look at some quality used equipment in cincinatti oh. guy got on craigslist. wanting med duty 7 ft crankbait rod and would also like good all around spinning outfit .maybe for top water. I understand this is a broad question. got any recommendations? or idea what would be fair price on said equipment. seen recomedations on shimano and daiwa reels hg or fk reels . not sure what all gentelman has for sale. that's why the question taking you guy advice if I would happen to see something you have mentioned might help in my quest. tight lines to all catch big ones this year thanks lonnie

  13. my dad told me a man is only as good as his word . be respectful. appreciate others. always try to help others. my hero!! hang in there I see a lot of young kids loving the sport and admiring the help they receive. some times we are just teachers. be a good one. happy new year my friend tight lines lonnie
  14. fishing with cousin and brother on lay lake in Alabama got me spoiled used to love ice as well living in southern part of Indiana we haven't gotten much in last few years. wonder if older age has anything to do with it ? happy new year keep tight lines lonnie
  15. how is the fishing in raccoon lake? we camp a lot and I like to do it where there is a lake so I can fish of course. what do fish like there. plastics top water etc... happy new year catch big ones !! lonnie

  19. lost neighbor today that always let us fish as young boys. what kindness and love they showed was inspiring to me. your post makes me smile. way to go! I'm sure you will be some young persons hero nice to know good people do still exist tight lines my friend. lonnie
  20. lost 93 yr old friend today she lost her husband MY HERO few years back. always let me and my younger brother fish there farm ponds when we were just young boys. encouraged us not to get in trouble and took interest in fish we caught . we shared catch with them. more adults should encourage young kids in the right way of life . I am greatfull for so much kindness. will miss them greatly I promise to pass it on Lonnie
  21. lay lake on cusa river about 2 hrs south. great ky spots ! fight hard. is dangerous lake lots of stumps stay in channel. waxahatchi creek fish rocky points green pumkin red finess worm on shaky head or bullet nose sinker also great crappie creek if you like catching big slabs. tight lines my friend lonnie
  22. love the hook s very sharp I use 2/0 thru 5/0. cousin taking me on my first big trip in march lake fork texas hoping for a big one!!
  23. try to go to Alabama lay lake where it is warmer for me. living in Indiana. brother and cousin live on the water also make furnature out of reclaimed barn wood and other wood working. A mans just got to get out of the house!!!
