  1. This fish fought harder than fish I have caught that were nearly twice as big. Seemed healthy and strong just really thin.
  2. I had figured that this fish just like the rest of the Florida residents is getting ready for bikini season.
  3. My father taught me years ago that there are no such thing as "fishing clothes" because all clothes are fishing clothes. I fish during by lunch hour so I go back to work after an hour. This particular lake has produced quality fish. The fish in my profile picture was caught here.
  4. Junk Fishing typically works best for me.
  5. I caught this fish on "last cast" during my lunch hour on Wednesday in Deerfield Beach, FL. It is a beautiful fish but really skinny in my opinion. The fish weighed 2.5 lb and I didn't measure the length because well I just didn't. Does this fish look typical to you for this time of year?
  6. What he said. Forget everything you have seen on TV. Fish slow and watch your line.
  7. Outstanding Fish! I live in Florida and I am a little jealous. Looks like you found a great spot.
  8. I can't wait to see the new Bass Fishing Regulation regarding "baiting". I wonder if the carcass has to be real or if a deer decoy would work.
  9. That is why they call Florida the Fisherman's Paradise. From where I work there are at least a dozen accessible banks that hold bass within a ten minute drive. We catch a bunch of little ones but once in a while we find a quality fish or two. The 7-4 fish on my profile picture was caught during my lunch hour with two of my colleagues standing a few yards away. Oh and we have the Atlantic Ocean less than ten miles away.
  10. Only caught two today. One little guy and one keeper right at a pound. I'll try again tomorrow.
  11. I am in a short sleeve shirt and drinking water so that I will stay hydrated during my lunch hour. I hope to have a tight line within the next 30 minutes.
  12. Frosty move to south florida and I an certain we can get your numbers up!
  13. Outstanding!
  14. The weather was perfect in Deerfield Beach, FL today. 80°F, a slight wind out of the south and partly cloudy skies. I went to Sailboat Lake at noon and started throwing a purple rocket craw but no action. Switched to a 5" stick bait T-rigged with a 1/16 oz bullet weight and the bites started happening. I ended the hour landing six and lost as many as I caught including these two Lake Monsters. No trophies today although my personal best and the fish in my profile picture was caught in this lake. These put me up to 160 bass for the year. It was tough making myself go back to the office.
  15. I have never lost a rod, but once when I was a kid I was out in the boat with my dad getting ready for a day of catching red fish. I picked up the cast net and made the first cast for the shrimp we would spend the day fishing with only I neglected to tie the net to my wrist. I looked at my dad, he looked at me and not a single word was spoken. I took off my shirt, kicked off my shoes and went in after it. Fortunately I was and still am an excellent swimmer and after a few minutes it was found and recovered.
  16. I can understand the confusion. The west bank of a pond will always be the western side. If you also have a west wind, then the wind will be at your back. If you fish the west bank of a pond with an east wind, then the wind will be in your face.
  17. I agree with the trophies and snacks, but handing out maps will be a waste. Within the next few years there will be no one left alive who can read them.
  18. I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Florida is officially full. Someone will let you know when a spot opens up.
  19. Teach a man to fish and he will want to borrow your rods, lures, hooks and weights!
  20. Nice Fish!! Did you put her on a scale? My fish calculator says that fish should weigh 11 1/2 lbs. I can see another pound or two from the eggs she is stuffed with. Where in Georgia are you? I grew up in Savannah and still get up there from time to time.
  21. In South Florida we fish gin clear water routinely. As said above, stand well away from the bank on your first few casts into a new area. Use weightless or T-Rigged Senkos with no more than 1/16 oz bullet weights and fish ridiculously slow. Cast and watch for line movement. Real in slack and make one bump and wait. Repeat until you can see your lure. Most of my casts take at least 3 minutes to retrieve. Good Luck and I look forward to seeing pictures of some quality South Carolina Bass.
  22. I work in Deerfield Beach, FL and fish every day during my lunch hour from the bank. I would recommend Quiet Waters Park. I have caught great numbers there and a few that went 3+ lbs this year. The Renaissance Festival is currently going on so some of the water is not accessible, but there are still many good banks to fish. Use a 5" Senko (Watermelon Seed or dark red) either weightless or T-Rigged with a 1/16 oz bullet weight and fish VERY slow. I can almost guarantee you will catch bass.
  23. Bill Dance was mine as well. Now that I am older with a family of my own I realize that his famous tagline may have been slightly errant. He should have signed off every show with "Do the fish a favor and take a kid fishing"
