  1. Mepps Comet Mino (big fish lure) 1/4 oz Kastmaster (Gold on sunny days and silver on cloudy) Little Cleos (blue and silver) Roostertails (trout patterns) When I troll for trout, 1/4 oz is my go to. On windy days, I will step it up to 3/8 but nothing heavier.
  2. My panic box for multi-species trips always contains grubs. That’s non-negotiable. 3” White grubs have accounted for countless 2-3#’s in high-pressured urban ponds for me over the past few years. Not to mention, all of the bonus channel cats that have also fallen victim The grub is subtle and versatile. With the rod tip high with a fast retrieval, the subsurface bite can be fantastic at night, especially pre spawn. The grub can be fished in all columns of the water. It’s very effective on an under spin, like the old school roadrunners and as swim jig trailers. It was my go-to walleye and saugeye back in Denver and now I use a 2” grub to sight fish for trout in AZ and for spawning crappie. I like to use a grub on a bettlespin in lieu of the split tail body. A June bug Fat Albert is one of my favorite night lures for bass of all time. Never gets discussed. Kalin’s makes my favorite design overall. Ron’s craw is a must. Trust me. Berkely’s Powergrubs are staples. The pumpkinseed is a terrific crawdad pattern and the Christmas Tree is a quintessential panfish color. A famous Lake Powell guide’s website, waynesworld.com, has fantastic articles about the grubs, which I have saved on my computer for reference. Check it out! Yamamoto’s Shad and baby bass colors are some of my favorite baitfish patterns. As you can tell the humble and unpretentious grub is definitely my confidence bait. A timeless classic, and like a tube, gets often overshadowed by new trendy and overly expensive baits; which is fine by me ?
  3. Not too shabby ..... You know it ?
  4. Left with @brgbassmaster at 1:30 AM last Friday for a 3 hour drive towards the CA/AZ border. We fished until 3:30 PM, in triple digits; but did the lack of sleep and combating the extreme heat pay off! He landed at least a dozen and I landed 4 - all on whopper ploppers. @brgbassmaster did get a couple early am bass off the RI Vixen. Those violent surface attacks will be forever captured in my memories.
  5. Yo-Zuri Pin’s Minnow is a fantastic floating bait. It’s 2” and weighs 1/16 oz. I not only catch a ton of nice rainbow trout on it, but high-pressured pond bass like it too.
  6. Very cool hooks! Love me some tubes
  7. I bought one because of your recommendation a long time ago lol. Looks like THE multi-species finesse jerkbait I’ve been looking for! Thanks Blue
  8. Combo I don’t fish enough of while pond hopping. Bitsy Bug jig (GP Craw) with a Yum Ned Bug trailer (Dark Brown/Red Brown)
  9. Bass fishing tournaments on 2-3 acre urban ponds that get hot-spotted online
  10. Watermelon Red.
  11. Good question. When set in the “on” position, the reel is already engaged immediately during the cast. In other words, it saves the quick step of cranking the handle to engage the reel. Whether I use it or not, kind of a cool feature if I use it for pitching and get bites as soon as it hits the water .... which only really happen in my dreams, personally haha
  12. My first froggin’ combo! The pitch switch looks interesting on the XH Lew’s Super Duty LFS. Can’t wait to get some 65# braid and get to work!
  13. Fished literally all day in 103 degree temps a couple weeks ago in AZ. Probably drank 10 bottles of water, downed a couple bottles of Gatorade, and tried to cover up as much skin as possible. Did I look like a blue condom?? Maybe ??. But I caught fish!
  14. Hog!!!!! Nice fish! What rig do you use for those dead ringers?
  15. @Bass_Fishing_SocalDude, that is really cool of you. Since our dates don’t align, do you take rain checks lol? I’ll PM you next time I’m in CA and we will have to meet up and fish together. Thanks again for the nice offer!
  16. Oh sweet. My gf and I are leaving tomorrow and staying until Sunday afternoon. We are just staying at hotels and doing a mix of salt and freshwater. So far, we’ve booked a Full Day trip at the Coronado Islands for some yellowtails and contemplating Santee Lakes since we both dig catfishing, especially her.
  17. Shameless bump since I’m leaving in two days. Thanks BR
  18. Going to San Diego for about 4 days. Driving from Phoenix with my gf. Any recommendations for catfish and bass fishing from shore? Also, for ocean charters? How’s the yellowtail fishing been? Thanks BR community in advance!
  19. Huge thanks to @brgbassmaster for taking me out yesterday on the Colorado River for my first Whopper Plopper fish! Including my PB top water fish (see pic) We had a solid day with some violent hits! While most of my fish were caught on top water, had a nice one off the jackhammer.
  20. I live in Phoenix and have tried to get the bass bite every summer and I just can’t figure it out. So, I catfish until mid-September. That’s when the top water and wake bite starts. October and November is generally awesome until mid-December. Good luck!

I like them until their colors fade. I’ve noticed that they changed the packaging at least a couple years ago, so I selectively only hand pick those Improved packaged bags. I’m just reluctant to purchase Roboworms online for that precise reason. If I purchase Zoom worms, for example, I know without a doubt that the color is going to be consistent and retain its color too
  22. @NYWayfarer I definitely want to try this rig out soon. What size Neko hook did you use?
