How far south to fish! Help a northerner
I need a Kansas angling experience in my life. After seeing some of the fish that Ben Milliken and bryan(?) have been catching and then from the pics you post it looks like a blast.

Gar lures
Catch some creek chubs or shad or bluegills and turn them into cut bait. Let the gar eat it for a long time and set the hook as hard as possible. You need super sharp strong hooks and a steel leader or really heavy mono. Not only are their teeth sharp their scales are like armor and are very abrasive as well. They have super hard mouths. We fish for them in the summer and our bite to land ratio is very low. I prefer to shoot them with a bow.

Jigs Braid or Flourocarbon
Are you hooking them and then they are coming off or are you getting bit and not even hooking them at all? Or are you catching the fish but they are barely hooked? I would say it is more of a hook or weed guard issue rather than a line or rod issue. A jig is only as good as its hook. If you switch some stuff around and you're still not having the success you want, just swim your jigs that you are hooking up well with. Your be surprised how good of an open water swim jig a football head is

Bluegill or shad
The places I fish that the bass rely heavily on both, it depends on the time of year that they key in on the different forage types. Winter-early pre spawn shad, spawn-post spawn gills, post spawn-late summer both, late summer-winter shad

Craw and Creature baits simplified
Love it for a smaller profile jig trailer where I don't want a lot of flapping action more swimming action. Great chatterbait trailer. I like pitching them with a 3/8-3/4 ounce weight with a big flipping hook. I believe I use 4/0 owner jungle 4x flipping hooks

NAIL WEIGHTS
I just use regular 2" wood screws and prefer a senko or trick worm. Good night fishing bait when they're finicky

Fish it all the way in
2 years ago We got on one heck of a buzz toad bite. I'm talking guaranteed 22-25lb bag for about a 2 weeks straight, everyday. We were fishing from the bank. So when tourney weekend rolled around we thought we'd be laughing all the way to a paycheck. Well we didn't get a single blow up on tourney day when we were fishing from the boat. I 100% agree with @Bluebasser86. I think the fish believe the bait is escaping onto land and they take the opportunity. Because what silly frog just goes buzzing out into oblivion out into 20 feet of water lol

Team tournaments / Jacob Wheeler
His drive and flat out ability to catch them is what makes me a big fan of his. And the fact that I'm a hoosier as well. He has a video on his YouTube page about him coming up through the ranks from a young teenager all the way to today. There is a fellow bass resource member that is featured in that video and I believe is fairly close with mr wheeler. Cool to know that even though indiana isn't a great bass state, if you're good enough and Have the determination you can make the big time.

Lipless crankbaits in ponds
My suggestion would be to work it rod tip up like in the 10 o clock position , and as soon as you feel it start to hang up, rip it hard straight up 2 times. Not only will this clear the debris from your bait it will create a reaction strike from the bass

Lipless crankbaits in ponds
Bagley rattling b minus. 1/2 ounce slow sink. But when you say snag the bottom do you mean hung up on grass/weeds or snagged where you can't get it free and have to break your line like youre stuck on wood?

Fluorocarbon for frogs
Fluorocarbon sinks and has stretch in it. That is 2 things you don't want when frog fishing. It would greatly affect the action and your hook up percentage would be super low I feel like. Minimum 40lb braid for frogging
