  1. Thats awesome and something he'll never forget!!
  2. @Hook2Jaw Your girlfriend probably put a hex on you for sneaking out
  3. A black buzzbait can be the ticket during rain I like to rig mine "wheeler" style with a horny toad on the back. This increases my casting distance and will allow me to have more control when placing to specific targets
  4. I've been bombing at these picks all year Hopefully, this one begins my turnaround
  5. This is why I fish alone. I use this time to reflect on myself and what improvements I can make both on or off the water It allows me to concentrate and focus at whatever I might be trying to accomplish that particular trip I dont have to worry about front ending someone or putting them on fish
  6. I live in Sharps Chapel so it is rural back here and quite a few reports of coyotes taking livestock. This is a perfect place for the coyotes to roam around
  7. I think its just one of those things that is going to happen as unfortunate as it is. Like casualties when there is war. Ive got a fenced in back yard and an electric dog fence in the front yard. When my husky wants to run neither can stop her. She can climb the chain link fence and she will just suffer thru the shock of the electric fence when she wants to be free.
  8. One of our neighbors dog happened to get trapped last year. Neighbor just always let the dog run free and he would often come to our house as we have 5 dogs. Neighbor pretended like they didn't own the dog after we let them know he was on our porch and badly hurt. We took him to the humane society and the vet removed the leg all the way at the shoulder and he's now called Trey. Sad story that had a good ending as he was adopted by a loving family!! We can hear the coyotes howling at night and there has been lots of livestock that has went missing around here.
  9. I stopped deadsticking soft plastics as my experience is that is my highest ratio of fish that get gut hooked. You wanna guaranteed bite? Toss out a topwater and while your dead sticking it, use the bathroom.
  10. I have caught fish behind many tourney guys that were flipping laydowns/bushes with my reverse rig senko. with this rig when you pull it over a limb it falls back towards the trunk and not out towards the boat I remove the treble hooks from blade baits and replace them with a single hook only on the back I will tie a couple strands of skirting where the front hook would go I like to impart the "Alabama shake" when fishing my buzz toads. I like to start every morning by fishing my buzz toad. A. I love the topwater bite B. this will allow me to see what sort of activity is along the bank(bait fish, random roamers or wolf packs cruising by) C. Allows me to cover water finding active fish/areas or lets me know I need to be fishing deeper
  11. That is an AWESOME fish Brian!! How about some thoughts on Ish or Pro's fishing the opens? ?
  12. Nice catch!! How do you know it didnt just pull up when you did?
  13. I am now very skeptical of your comments.
  14. Thanks for the link- looks like they have some good prices and I'll be giving them a try!!
  15. Nice fish, thanks for sharing!! A little use of the snip it tool and no more cousin
  16. BassNJake replied to tholmes's topic in Everything Else
    Congrats!! Enjoy the free time!!
  17. I like the venom big shots tube. It's a fat tube and gives a different look as many people will use smaller profile tube baits. The copper flake has been good to me in multiple colors.
  18. I use the bass pro lure retriever with the extra "chains" I also have 2 of these as I have had to use my lure retriever to get my lure retriever back.
  19. I managed to remember to make my picks. Lets hope for a shootout!!
  20. Congrats to you and your partner!! Thank you for taking us on this journey with you as always and excellent write up!!
  21. Seriously, about once a year I'm swimming instead of fishing My very first trip out I didn't tie the tow rope to the trailer and just launched my boat out into the lake. I've had to go diving in for my car keys 2 different times and my wallet once. I've had to get in the water to replace the plug. I've been tossed out a boat when we ran aground. I fished a trolling motor only tourney and our batteries died- so I had to walk the shoreline-including a causeway and under a bridge towing the boat with a rope. I haven't had a recent incident but I know its coming....
  22. Ouch, hope the injuries are not serious. thank you for the update!! I did a search but couldn't find anything(cant access social media while at work)
  23. Any other info or a link?
  24. I'm a toad guy but my lake has next to nothing when it comes to vegetation. The toad is really good at covering water and exposing fish that are hidden in the rocks. Sometimes they will just hammer the toad and other times they just show themselves taking a peak at what the commotion was. This will allow me to toss a shakey head or a senko to these fish that are not as aggressive I like to impart the "Alabama shake" during parts of my retrieve as it allows the bait to stay a little more in place while creating more disturbance than just the legs. Many of my bites will come as I pause the bait after the shaking
  25. This is how hillbillies get to redneck status Although in Missouri, did you hear banjo music as you floated by?
