I don't think the 50mg is a finesse type reel. I have mine spooled with #12 mono and use them for everything but finesse fishing. I throw weightless worms and 1/16 ounce weights on my Sol and 50mg all the time. In fact, the only two lures I have that aren't thrown on a b/c are beetlespins and speck jigs. Basically, if I can't throw it on a b/c then I don't buy it.

I think this guy will have a better chance having fun chasing the reds and other inshore saltwater fish then he will catching a 13 pound bass. And his odds at catching a 13 pound bass without the use of shiners is drastically against him. Pulling 13 pounders of beds on a regular basis out of the blue AINT happening. I think his best bet is to hit Stick Marsh with George Welcome or some other guide who knows the lake well if it's bass fishing he wants to do. But don't mislead the guy by acting like 13 pounders are caught of beds on any particular day of the week during the spawn. Especially during a cold snap/front.

It is the IM6 blank and it cost about as much back then as the GLX's do today. Don't yall think it qualifies for the expediter service? Witch rod in their line up is comparable to the IM6?

I'm glad you found your true love and I'm sure it's a very fine reel but, I must respectfully say BULL COCKA to your comparison with Shimano.

I can't believe I'm asking this question but I would like some input on a new reel choice. I recently bought a Loomis GLX MBR842 & paired it with one of my Chronarch 50mg's and #10 mono. This combo is super sweet and unbelievably light. BUT, I think I may want a different reel on it and put the 50mg back on the MBR843. I have only one reel that is not a Shimano and that reel is a ,SHHHHH, Daiwa Sol which I use with small/med crankbaits. My question is this this. Are there any Shimanos out there that are 6 ounces and under but are as low profile as the Sol? I believe the Sol would fit the 842 rod better than the 50mg but the Sol is almost 1.5 ounces heavier than the MG and my goal is to keep this set-up very light. And use #10 mono. If no Shimano's fit this criteria than how about ,SHHHHHHHH, Diawa's under 6 ounces. Japan models are ok too. Thanks for any and all input.

Yep, theres one sitting right here next to me. I got this 6'6 back in 1988. I have caught 15 pound snook, sea trout, jack, and countless bass on it. I don't use it much anymore because my ex-wife gave it to me when we were dating and I can't stand that piece of . Anyway, back to the rod. I let my dad use it but it needs to be stripped down and rebuilt. I was thinking of doing the expiditer service on it. As far as the reel seat goes, I like the ones they currently use better. I don't care much for that metal locking ring. The cork however is hard core bad to the bone.

I just finished watching "Righteous Kill" with DeNiro and Pacino. I thought is was a good movie and these two guys are great together. Anybody else watch it? How about Bangkok Dangerous? I think I will watch that one next.
