I used to use the screw on weights and still have quite a few. Problems: 1. the plastic insert always tears apart and you end up taking it out so you can screw the sinker in. 2. the screw can get caught in the line and break you off. I now use regular tru-tungsten weights and I insert the rubber "whatch-ya-callits in through the top if the weight which work 10x better. BPS sells the little rubber whatch ya call its.

#1. I have only one reel that cost under $100 and that's my 4 pound ultralite reel. I don't have to justify anything! It's my money, the bills are paid and I love to fish so I buy what I want when I want if I have the cash. #2. I'm not going to downgrade to another rod or reel just because they go on sale. I'll either make do with what I have or save the money to get what I want . #3. Do you use Charmin to wipe your ars or the cheap sanpaper type that is half the price.

Check out the Red Bone rods made by Hurricane. They are about $90 and are good for the mney. I have 7.5 or 8' I use with braid for saltwater snook fishing and C-rig. I know Sports Authority carries them but they may not have that size.

BINGO!!! My brothers started acting up after somewhat heavy use in saltwater. I have two of them that are at least 3 yrs old and have ZERO problems. I use the bigger one in salt for snook but I rinse it well when done.

The bite was on this afternoon. My buddy and I got out on the water about 3:45 and fished until 6:00. I was using a finesse jig and he was using a 12" black worm. The bass were nailing the jig on the fall. This went about 7 pounds Same fish. My buddy. Another decent one. This Bluegill fought hard to eat my Zara Spook. This stunt plane was no more than 100' above the water. I could have easily hit it with my Spook.

Funny you mention this. I don't use braid but my buddy does and he uses a black marker. I read where Doug Hannon said if you you want to camo your line to use purple. Or was it blue? I think it was purple. He was referring to mono but it would also apply to braid.

If I'm under no time restrictions and all I'm catching are 1-2 pound fish then I have no problem exploring other areas. Chances are the fish will be biting there too. If it's a tournament then I'll stay put.
