I'm currently throwing a 7'6 G-Loomis cranking rod, but need (want) another one for deeper diving cranks. I want the rod to be around 7'10 to 8', but no shorter than 7'9. I will be using 10-12lb mono and fishing cranks that run from 10-20 feet deep. The only rod I have experience with other than Loomis is St.Croix, but I don't see where they have a cranking rod over 7'6. I prefer 7'10 or 7'11. These are the only two rods I could find that fit my needs, other than custom. Does anyone have experience with them? Are there any other brands that fit my needs? Should I go custom made? For "bigger bass?" Lake Osborne has plenty of 3-5 pounders in it. 6-7 pounders also exist but aren't caught on regular basis. If you want a chance at 8 pounds and over, then go somewhere else to fish. Perhaps Lox or Okeechobee.

I use the same lures/worms at night as I do in the day. Last night I was throwing a 1/2 chrome with blue top rattle trap and flat out whacked'em.

I use to sneak my own SnowCaps in but I've been buying at the theater lately. We go to City Place in downtown WPB. 10 bucks per ticket, 16 bucks for the popcorn combo, which is a LARGE popcorn and 2 LARGE drinks. Free refills on popcorn and soda for extra 3 bucks, which I don't buy. Who and the heck can eat that much popcorn and drink that much soda. Basically it's 40 bucks for a movie (pluss dinner). City Place now has ASSIGNED seating. You choose your seat when you purchase your tickets.

Some very interesting thoughts on KVD's SK. Do you really think the SK cranks KVD uses are different than the ones off the shelf, other than him changing out the hooks? Do you think his cranks are "special made' from the factory?

Thanks for all the replies, I appreciate them. I kind of figured KVD does some sort of modifications to his cranks. I don't think cranking is all that complicated, once you find the fish. The problem is getting the crank to run correct or find the right wobble. Haha, I was thinking that while watching him on t.v this morning.

This IS NOT a bash thread. How does he catch fish on the Strike King cranks. I've watched 3 or 4 of his shows and in everyone he was throwing the Sexy Shad crank. I've only bought 3 three Strike King cranks, EVER. 2 different size Sexy Shad and some other colored one. I have yet to catch a fish on them, ZERO confidence. Neither of my Sexy Shads seem to run as true as my Lucky Crafts. I was fishing cranks in my tourny the other day and decided to give the SK a shot. I started with a discontinued color LC and boated one on the first cast. Caught a few more over the next 10 minutes. I switched to the SK sexy shad and not even a hit. I went back to the LC crank and Pointer and caught a few more. I realize the two different colors of cranks I was using could have been the deciding factor or perhaps because the LC crank was a bit smaller thant the SK. Who fishes cranks as one of their primary baits (like every outing)? Do you throw the Sk and have good results with them. I'm beginning to think KVD is using a different brand crank painted like the SK Sexy Shad, Hahaha. I know he's not but how does he do it. And I don't want to hear it's because he's KVD.
