  1. Fantastic reel. You made a great decision.
  2. What are the strikes like with the Johnson spoon? They nail it, or just bump it?
  3. TW has Kistler H3 for $219, the same price Kistler has them for right now. Also Kistler has that great fall sale 27% off all rods!!!
  4. Here's your answer
  5. Type R are a better reel. BUT both are great reels. IMO the new Tatula 150 is another to try. I like it the most of all three.
  6. St Croix Premier casting rods are excellent if you need the freedom of a two piece.
  7. I have 30lb braid on all but one casting setup. I use a leader of 12,15, 20lb line. My usual is 15lb RedLabel most of the time, or go straight when the time is right. 30lb braid is great on casting reels. My 2 cents.
  8. Hey Kistler loyalist. Do you happen to have the Magnesium 2 Medium 7' casting rod? I just got a Helium3 and love it.
  9. How do you keep you cork handles so clean. you wearing rubber gloves when you fish?
  10. The bitsy bug jig weed guard is so light, so using 8lb (I've even gone down to 6lb test) line and a decent fast action rod you should have no issue setting the hook. I see no reason to spend the money on that Ike jig. I've been using bitsy bug jigs and bitsy flip jigs forever, and I think they are very good jigs. The small sizes 1/16, 1/8, 3/16oz bitsy bug is a pretty light jig, and should be used with lighter rods and line than standard bass jigs. It is a finesse jig for sure. Small jigs catch big fish along with the smaller fish. Good luck!
  11. That's what I was thinking it would be like. I was on the fence about getting a Loomis 852 or MBR 782 also. Thanks!
  12. Hey is the SV TWS a different reel than the SV TW 103? Are you saying the SV TWS has aluminium gears and the TW 103 has brass gears? I thought all the Tatula reels had brass gears.
  13. Does anyone have any experience with this Expride A Casting Rod: 7'2" Med Lt+. On TW it says "American Bait Finesse" it's rated 7-14lb line, 1/8-5/8 lures. I'm looking for something to throw 3/16-1/4oz finesse jigs + trailer on 20lb braid with a Tatula SV TW103. The SV is really great at throwing light weight stuff, just wondering if the Expride would have enough backbone for hook sets.
  14. I never have any issues with Bitsy Bugs and hooking fish. I use 8lb Red label as a leader with 8 or 10lb braid. I like the 1/8oz and 3/16oz the best, but in shallow water the 1/16oz is cool too. I do best with the end of a Yum Warning Shot or Kill Shot. Sometimes a TRD or the Tiny Paca Chunk too, if you want an even slower fall. I like the hooks on the Bitsy Bugs.
  15. Netbait Paca chunk and craw. The Z-Man Turbo Craw. I never drank the Rage Kool-Ade.
  16. Man you sound like you have a bone to pick. The two Kistler H3 I have are nothing like you mention. Both are very light, well balanced, super sensitive, fish great, and are perfectly put together. What kind of manufacturing are you looking for? These rods are hand made by a few people and hand tested. All the wraps and guides on the ones I have seen have been perfect. I also got my Kistler rods on sale for around $220 and I am 100% happy with them.
  17. Dude. It's $20. Just get it and be happy. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Shimano-Mark-II-Quick-Fire-II-Japan-Spinning-reel-/323852405406?_trksid=p2385738.m4383.l4275.c10
  18. I regularly use 15lb McCoys either Mean Green or the Clear version. I also use it as leaders with 30lb PP braid too.
  19. Does that have a telescoping handle?
  20. Come on now........
  21. Kistler H3 MH is great, they come in 6'8', 7', and 7'3". If you don't throw anything over a 3/8oz jig + trailer Kistler also has a Light Medium Heavy that is a perfect jig/t-rig rod. It has a taper similar to the G Loomis MBR rods, which is a fantastic rod style. They are really well made rods. They can also do a lot of other stuff beside bottom contact fishing. Sensitivity, balance, and feel are great on them. I prefer the more classic look over the JDM style.
  22. Exactly. This site has a lot of "don't do it the wrong way". If you have a way that works keep it.
  23. There isn't a GL3 MBR 803, all of the MBR rods are 6'6", 7' or 7'6" long. If you can get any MBR rod for $100 that's a great deal, as long as they are clean and all together.
  24. Homie, I think you're in the wrong place. Maybe someone will chime in.
