  1. What the heck, have you tried contacting FedEx? I'd be highly annoyed.
  2. It's a technique I've never done before, like ever. After watching and reading a lot about it, I figured it would be a great addition to my fishing. Just a month ago or so I put together a great rod/reel combo for it. Last week I tried it for the first time and caught a very nice bass (for me) on it. I was sold. I'm really excited to try it on a somewhat local lake that is highly pressured with pretty clear water. It's a tough lake to fish but I think this will be perfect for it. There's big bass in it if you can catch them.
  3. Well, I'm almost positive I'm going to be fishing a neko rig a bunch this year.
  4. Have some of these that my dad used back in the day. I've never fished them and probably won't.
  5. Thank you sir, and yes, I was happy!
  6. I should also add that anything with Al Lindner is good. He's a legend to me. The Angling Edge is a good show even though it's mostly an infomercial like all the other channels.
  7. Haven't been out much so far this year but was able to go out Sunday for a bit and lucky for me my oldest son (19) came with. We were fishing from the bank so I only brought 4 poles. Spinnerbait Jerkbait Neko rig Wacky worm Goal was bass and maybe a big crappie from the jerkbait. No crappies but we caught around 10 bass which was fun. He got to use a jerkbait for the first time which he really enjoyed. I tried a Neko rig for the very first time. I used a package of homemade worms from a small town Iowa kid that tossed them out at a parade my nephew was at. I then took a Dremel and cut up some nails to insert. My son was like, "Dad there's no way you're going to catch a fish with that." LOL I ended up catching 2 or 3, the biggest by far was around 16.5". Big to me. Good little outing and best of all I got to share it with one of my best friends.
  8. I was so pumped to fish the whopper plopper. I ordered like 4 of them. What a disappointment. I did catch a fish on one last year, had to take a picture for proof to my family.
  9. Lake St. Clair is on the bucket list. I also want to get back up to Quetico, preferably with my two sons.
  10. Yeah we live in two different worlds. 6 pounder? If I landed it, I'm assuming I would look like this! LOLOLOL
  11. That's it, I'm moving.
  12. Most important question, are they catching fish?????
  13. If I were you, I would let her know how much fun you had plus a million thanks. That and ask her if there's things you can do to help her. 30 acre private pond? Jeepers creepers that's a score!
  14. What length would you say that is? My goal is 20" this year. That qualifies for an Iowa Master Angler award.
  15. I know all of us here live in different parts of the country. Seems like we have all four corners covered and everywhere in-between. Just for fun, I was wondering what you consider a "big" bass? Not huge, or trophy, but big. Example: You're fishing with a buddy and he catches a fish. How big does it have to be to say, "That's a big bass"? Or you're fishing by yourself and you're like, "That's a big bass." For me? I'm in Iowa and fish small lakes, some would call large ponds. Never caught a 5 lb bass in my life. "Big" for me is probably anything over 15". I'm about positive if I'm fighting a 15" fish, I'm telling my son, "I've got a big one one!" So what say you? What's "big" for you?
  16. After fishing with a Neko rig for the first time on Sunday, I can tell it's going to be a staple. Just placed an order for several different types of worms and colors: Big Bite Baits Nekorama worm in Matte Dunne Xzone MB Fat Fineses in Green Pumpkin June Bug Zoom Trick worm in June Bug Zxones deception in Watermelon Red Flake Thanks for all the comments.
  17. I’m going to be throwing a lot of soft plastics this year, more than ever. More specifically Neko rigs. My local lake has pretty good clarity with a lot of submerged weeds. Sometimes I wonder if it’s harder to see a green pumpkin worm fished in the weeds? I know it’s harder for ME to see it but I’m obviously not a bass. Am I over thinking this? What are your favorite soft plastic colors when fishing weeds? THANKS!
  18. The main lake I’ll be using this is pretty clear and gets a ton of pressure. That’s why I was debating such a long length.
  19. Thanks. I wasn’t quite sure how to use the tool you provided earlier. Lol I’m planning on putting a 15 or so foot leader on it.
  20. Same, just purchased on 5/12. Via FedEx which might be the difference.
  21. Well I really wanted to get line on this today so I went to a nearby fleet farm and bought the 832 in bright yellow. Went with 10 lb. It was either this or the Smackdown which was a little more expensive. Came in a lime green or something. I preferred the bright yellow as my eyes seem to be getting worse every year.
  22. Also, do you prefer a colored braid for this type of fishing? My current combo that I throw mostly wacky rigs on has yellow line which probably does help me see better.
  23. So I recently purchased a spinning rod/reel for mostly throwing Neko rigs, wacky, and shaky plastics. Most use will be Neko rigs I’m thinking. Unless someone talks me out of it, I was planning on going with a braid to leader. The leader I was thinking 8 lb floro but I’m not sure about the braid. Size or brand. What’s a good line setup? Also what’s a good braid line for spinning? Rod is a medium power and the reel is a Vanquish C3000MHG. Thanks!!!
  24. Proud to say I was one of NDyak's first subscribers. Great videos. Not a fan of the TacticalBass dudes. It's just a big infomercial. They rarely show you HOW to fish. They just show you WHAT they fish with and then of course post links of everything to "help us out". DCFishing SBFishing Wheeler Hook Up Tackle I also watch random guys that fish in Iowa. I used to love Uncut Angling but no clue what happened to that dude. He was Canadian. Hope he's doing good. He had a large enough channel I think he could have fully supported himself the way it was going.
  25. Oh I love 53 degrees myself. But not when it's super windy/rainy in a kayak.
