Former Northern basser with a question for the southern/reservoir guys…
Secondary points always confuse me. I get what a point is. But a second one? LOL

Should Have Listened to the Old Guy... do you?
This is what I do. I always try to be friendly. With that being said, friendly doesn't mean I have diarrhea of the mouth.

"That rods got some tip"
Yeah I'm definitely jealous of how some of you Southerners talk. One weekend I was walking around the house always saying "Got-to-mighty". LOL I also need to start saying "Big'un" when I hook onto something big.

Uni Knot is amazing
I only use and know 4 fishing knots. Palomar - braid Double pitzen - fluoro Improved clinch - mono FG - braid to leader When I was younger all I did was throw mono so the improved clinch was the only knot I knew. Don't think it ever failed me.

"That rods got some tip"
I watch a lot of youtube fishing and everyone says "pockets" or "backs of pockets". Up around here I simply call that a bay. Maybe I've been wrong my whole life, wouldn't surprise me (or my wife).

"That rods got some tip"
I've heard "just the tip" but I don't think we can talk about that kind of stuff here.

My local ponds
Sure could. Throw a 3" swimbait/curly tail grub and you've got a chance of catching anything and everything.
-
My local ponds
I'd definitely be fishing that river if I lived there. Rivers are just lakes with more current. 🤣

My local ponds
Yeah those are smack dab in the middle of one of the most rapidly growing areas in Iowa. Have you tried the river yet over there? Might have to try walleye fishing (please don't ban me).

My local ponds
That area is growing rapidly, don’t have to tell you that. Never been there but my son has wrestled a couple of really good kids from there.

when out fishing. you ever see someone filming for youtube?
Yeah I'm pretty sure his plan is to move there.

Normally I have a gopro rolling just to record my adventure. Don't have a channel though. I just like to watch me fish. LOL Geoffrey the King?????

PY and CY biggest bass lure
I would have never even thought about those two together. Looks like it works.

98 degs today, and the fish moved. I did find them.
I'd love a stand on kayak. I have 2 sit in and 2 sit on. I'll never fish out of the sit in ever again.

PY and CY biggest bass lure
My bad, I forgot about the brown bass. LOL Which is crazy because when I started this account a long time ago smallmouth were by far my favorite fish. Now I'm rarely on rivers and the lakes I fish don't even have them. Not even sure about my PB smallmouth because back in the day I rarely kept track. I'd guess either a jointed floating Rapala caught up in Canada or a hair jig tipped with a minnow here in Iowa.

C'mon man, give us the "deets". How did you catch them?

PY and CY biggest bass lure
I don't believe I've seen a similar thread so I thought it would be fun. AKA I'm in the office and don't feel like working. The title has prior year (PY) and current year (CY), I'll even add to the list personal best (PB). So there's three different answers you can give. Name the lure that caught you the biggest bass for the PY, CY, and your PB. Should be fun (unless I'm just a fishing dork). LOL I'll go first. PY - white double bladed willow spinnerbait CY - neko rig PB - ned rig

Tackle Warehouse?
She's a keeper!!! Mine takes my boxes and hides them. Normally gives me something to do before she hands them over. LOL

Megabass Karashi Twitch Bait
The only place I see people drooling over this thing is Tactical Bass'n and they are just a huge infomercial where companies are paying them to recommend their tackle. I'm curious what others say though. I'll pretty much buy anything that will catch fish.

Tackle Warehouse?
I normally use Omnia but TW had a soft plastic I REALLY wanted which Omnia didn't have. This was about a month ago. No issues on shipping.

I get excited about a new lure and want to share, but....
Don't worry, I'm at least a decade behind myself. Maybe in a couple of years I can start adding electronics to the kayak.

Hey I told you! LOL Awesome.

Do You Retire Lures?
I've retired lures but only by accident. Most people call them snags.

Thinking of revisiting the trick worm?
Yeah I'd definitely give it a try. Seems pretty effective, hard to fish it wrong, and it's not a big investment if you don't like it. Bag of plastics, some hooks, and some weights. Heck I used a bag of plastics that was thrown out at a parade (a local kid made them) and some nails I cut with a Dremel tool. Only thing I had to buy were the VMC weedless neko hooks and some o rings. After my first experience, I went straight to Omnia and bought worms, hooks, and weights. To me, it seems like the neko is the perfect mix of a ned rig and wacky worm, and I've never been skunked on either of those. Time will tell.
