  1. I've owned both. I am positive I was closer to the water in the Atak.
  2. If you have a couple extra bucks I like the Tatula Elite. A bit smoother than the SV TW which is also a great reel though.
  3. Was a Lews guy, now a Daiwa. I really like the SV TW and if there's a whirring noise add a drop of oil to both sides of the spool.
  4. I use both 20 and 30 lb braid, no leader. I do use a leader for treble hook baits though, but it's to minimize hook fouling not line shyness.
  5. I always have my seat in the high position. Mine paddle is 260. Comparing the high seat in the SS to an Atak is not even close.
  6. Chatterbait-Shad Spinnerbait-Shad
  7. I have a motor and have been caught up on stumps more times than I'd like. I've always been able to shake myself off of them. To be honest what I hate is hitting one towards one side of the yak without seeing it and getting the surprise, "I'm going over" feeling. It's never happened though. Nor have I really come close. It's just that shock.
  8. White/chartreuse or a shad with a chartreuse dip on the tail of my trailer. For spinnerbaits it's all about the thump as far as I'm concerned.
  9. Not in any particular order. I can get on water only a small jon boat could get on but my kayak is more efficient and comfy On water other boats can get to I can get to water within the water they can't. Example to the above I fish a quarry you can't fish from shore and can't get a boat in, I regularly catch 20 to 30 decent bass there every single time I'm there, and usually have the entire place to myself. Pull into the parking lot and be fishing in 10 minutes Get back to the ramp and be on the road home in 10 minutes It's already purchased.........won't cost me another penny. During the summer it sits on my garage floor During the winter it sits on a rack on the back wall of my garage out of the way Is just plain fun
  10. Chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, underspins, swim jigs, sometimes even my deep diving cranks all get thrown on the same rod/reel/line. That's why I have two identical setups on my kayaks all the time.
  11. New water I have three views,,,,,,,,map, side and down. When I think I see some bass I switch to either side and down or down only to get a bigger and better picture. Water I'm familiar with is two views, side and down. Then I target that spot.
  12. Probably of combination of slow supply of kayaks and/or their components from China and a high demand due to people having a lot more free time over the past year.
  13. I have a tube of Megastrike and a jar of JJ's. JJ's when I want to add chartreuse, Megastrike when I don't. I always add it to my plastics too.
  14. Luck was on your side right there! Well other than flinging it into the water....lol
  15. The Shearwater was made for the Bixby motor on the stern but as we all know there's always a way to add pretty much anything to any kayak.
  16. I'd rather be in my 12 foot kayak than a 10 foot jon boat.
  17. Year round in clear water. I do very well with them in ultra clear quarries, especially with high skies and lots of bait fish swimming around.
  18. April Fool's Day joke combined with genius marketing.
  19. My daughter and son in law have a decent sized private detention pond behind their house. It's probably about 15 acres and is basically an oval shaped bowl. Every year he puts the Christmas tree on the ice about 30 feet from the shoreline. Every summer we catch good sized bass from the tree.
  20. Head mount......unless you want video of your hands and rod.
  21. Chevy Vs Ford.................
  22. My motor battery is probably about 7 pounds, I have it strapped between my seat and my crate.
  23. Water like that I use a trailer with a lot of action....for me it's a Reaction Innovations Sweet Beaver. I hop it but also get bites on the fall after the cast too.
  24. I use electrical tape on the spool for braid. Also as said above make sure you have tension on the line as you reel it on. I also find anything under 20 lb braid to be like trying to fish with thread. Wind knots galore.
