  1. Personally, I've never broken a rod. However, I have trashed several reels and I feel like the shipping cost isn't worth it.
  2. Well, it's certainly taken a bunch of my money ?
  3. I used to just use my fingers when getting cranks out. After getting a hook completely through my finger, I started bringing pliers ?
  4. I would choose to report him, personally. However, I can understand if it makes your life extremely difficult if you choose to not report. I have been known to report people that break the law, even if they are my friends!
  5. I'm just a simple french horn player... Guitar is way beyond me
  6. I do not. I know there are other people on the forums that do, but I can tie a knot pretty speedy. Also, you might have to retie more than you think as your line gets abraded from rocks/trees/etc.
  7. X2 on the VileCraw. They are really good.
  8. Nothing is worse than catching a bat. Nothing. My strangest pattern was jigging a buzz toad after skipping it deep in cover.
  9. Toilet paper
  10. I just go into the woods behind a thick tree. If people see you they will just think you are a stalker or something
  11. I have set the hook and hit myself with the fish before. We all do it.
  12. I mostly fish alone but sometimes some conversation is appreciated.
  13. No fish on a jerkbait or chatterbait.
  14. I have really bad intestinal problems and it sucks. One time I was on a buddy's boat and had to jump onshore and drop my pants in a thorn bush, it was so bad. I literally have scars on my feet and legs from those thorns. To make matters worse, I fell down a ledge going back and got dirt crammed under my toenail. None of it compares to what you guys are dealing with, though.
  15. At least you guys figure 'em out...
  16. I have the exact same problem. This guy uses like 800 pound flouro and hooks into every single dock we visit. Luckily, he has gotten better and now it is just one in three docks ?
  17. When bank fishing, I skip a buzz toad into really heavy cover and jig it out. It seems to do really well as I'm sure no other guys have been doing it. Usually, I get two or three just on this technique even on highly pressured ponds.
  18. I was just fishing with a buddy when a huge bass followed my glide bait out of a dock. He got excited and set the hook on a stump, snapping his rod in two.
  19. I can see killing invasive species like pythons. In fact, whenever I catch an invasive species that has a negative impact on the environment, it's done. I wouldn't beat it to death, though. If it isn't trying to kill me and it belongs in this environment, I don't mess with it.
  20. I just went and fished a pond close to me. I was enjoying the fresh air, the feel of the rod in my hands and the sun on the back of my neck. Then, from across the pond, I hear a thumping sound. I glance over, and I can't believe my eyes. A little kid is beating a snake with a stick while another one films it on his smartphone (I don't believe kids should have phones either, but that is a whole other thread). Of course, I rush over there and the one kid proudly proclaims "It's a rat snake! They aren't poisonous." After really letting them have it, I do a once over of the snake. Its spine is shattered in a bunch of places and it will be dead soon. The kids start to realize that they have done something wrong by killing a harmless animal and began to apologize. "Don't apologize to me," I say. "Apologize to the snake." They look blankly back at me, confused. By now, the animal has expired and I have them move it to the bushes. Later, I see them again, taking pictures of it. What is wrong with people? They didn't even seem to realize they had done anything wrong. I can't believe that some people have so little respect for the world that they would club something to death just to post it on their Facebook. Sorry about the rant. I just need to vent my anger.
  21. Yes, it is still alive! I recently fished a tournament where we caught a TON of dinks on a glide bait, but as soon as we switched to a Ned rig, the bigger fish started rolling in. We also hooked a 4.5 pound bass off a bed on the Ned rig.
  22. I had a four pound bass nab a Whopper Plopper while pond fishing. It was an easy fight because one treble had closed his mouth. Not so easy when he puts the second hook through one finger. He's still attached and doing his signature headshakes! That was NOT fun. Now I carry pliers with me and don't go near any treble hooks when there is a capricious fish on the end of them.
