  1. Buzz cut!
  2. The problem with power poles is that one doesn't really work too well. You will spin around and it is a little inconvenient. They are extremely expensive, though.
  3. Focus on the west side of the bank as it gets the most sun and the fish will be more active
  4. I've had them charge me but the worst part about geese is that they crap everywhere.
  5. This is true. My fly fishing skills (while they still leave something to be desired) improved after learning how to use a baitcaster.
  6. I use a 6-7 foot flouro leader since I fish lakes with really clear water.
  7. I lost a rod while catfishing a small pond with big catfish in it. I got bored and walked down the bank to make a couple of casts at some nearby structure and when I turned back I saw my buddy waist deep in the water sloshing after my rod! I've also had a ton of times where I will make a cast with a two-piece spinning setup and half of it will go flying. So far, I've managed to retrieve all of those.
  8. I have, actually. I like the frog and it has a pretty good action.
  9. Welcome! You're in a great state for it.
  10. I've had spots follow largemouth and vice versa. I don't know if that is uncommon or not but I have never had a smallie follower.
  11. Water is open in NC. It is supposed to be 70 on Wednesday.
  12. Nice fish!
  13. I had money on Jordan Lee so I'm happy...
  14. I learned to skip last year and can do it well on a baitcaster. On the contrary, I can't skip with a spinning rod even though it's supposed to be easier ?
  15. I can skip for miles on a Lews Speed Spool Carbon Blue. It's strange, though. The brake dial does virtually nothing on both of the new reels. The only way I can adjust the backlash is by tightening the cast control to an unreasonable amount.
  16. I was at the Classic this week and bought two reels, an Abu Garcia Revo X and a Lews Carbon Fire. Both are higher quality reels that ordinarily I wouldn't buy because of the price. At the Classic, however, these reels were much cheaper so I bought them. I used them today and was surprised at how difficult it was to skip with them. Does it have something to do with the ball bearings? Each has double the amount that I'm used to (they each have 8). In order to skip, I have to move the cast control knob so that the lure doesn't even drop when I depress the spool. Usually, I'd just move the braking dial up to 16-18 to skip. Thanks for your input.
  17. I live right next to Lake Norman, so I fish there a lot.
  18. Welcome
  19. I will be heading down as well
  20. All of you are missing out on the Ned rig! It slays fish where I'm from. It is probably the most boring bait to fish, though.
  21. Bandages, burn and itch cream, skin safe superglue, and gauze. Honestly, I think that I've only used it once.
  22. The bass down here are so confused... They started to spawn and then it dropped twenty degrees ?
