  1. As the title says. I’m will have access to a place on Long Lake this year. Buddy doesn’t fish at all so I’m trying to gather some intel. Which lake would you recommend for landlocked salmon in terms of: 1) Action/bite/quantity of fish 2) I’ve read that salmon in Long lake are small. Are they really that much bigger in Sebago. If so, how much we talking? Double? 3) I’ve also read Sebago is a zoo in the summer. Would Long Lake be better in the summer for water skiing and canoeing. 4) Also, for winters, which would be the best lake for ice fishing? I’m assuming Long because it’s more likely to freeze, but I don’t know how the fishing compares to Sebago. Thanks!
  2. Hey man thank you. Great info. Really appreciate it!
  3. Digging up this old thread. I don’t know the lake very well but I really want to take a trip up there. For salmon, I assume the main lake has the biggest fish? Is it easy to catch them? Are they sizable? What are on the big lake would be best to target salmon? As for trout, I know there are a lot of other lakes connected to Sebago. Which one would be best for trout (ie Bandy pond, Long lake or Sebago itself). And for smallies and largemouth, which of these 3 would be best. Im thinking about getting an Airbnb on the water and renting a boat, and want to be close to the action without having to travel too far on the boat. What body of water would be best? Also, can you travel by boat from Long lake, through Brandy, into Sebago? If so, how long is the trip? Thanks folks.
  4. Hi all. I've been watching the Kastking 24 rod holder for a while. At $70 I was on the fence (seems like a lot of a cheap piece of metal). However, I need to get on this basement clean up project haha. The Kastkings are sold out at Walmart and Amazon. I assume its covid/supply issue related. MY QUESTIONS: there are tons of racks on Amazon that look exactly the same (generic knockoffs). Anyone ever try and of the other brands and any thoughts/recommendations Re: quality etc? Thanks folks.
  5. Thanks, much appreciated. I’m definitely a Gama in-line circles guy so I’ll probably just toss these. Someone left a huge ball of line with these hooks entangled. Trashy.
  6. And what are they used for? I found a bunch of them at the lake. PS humans leaving trash behind truly suck. https://ibb.co/F5Ssb43
  7. I think Im going to try some BPS Stickos, 5.5 inch ones, for wacky rigging. Could I just cut 1.5 inches off one of these and use it with the 1/0 skip gap hook? Would cutting it cause it to tear up faster?
  8. Can someone please help me classify the Sticko durability? I havent used them before. Thanks. Durability: Senkos = very poor Sticko = ??? YUM = very good Sink rate: Senkos = fast Sticko = fast YUM = slow Cost: Senkos = 88c each Sticko = 37c each YUM = 31c each Wobble: Senkos = very good Sticko = very good YUM = fair
  9. What size dinger would you recommend!?
  10. Yeah they were on sale so I just grabbed them (< $4 for 25 hooks). The go to is 3/0. But what should I use with these 1/0?
  11. Also, is there a vid somewhere where it shows how to rig these??? Thanks!
  12. I bought a pack of 1/0 gama skip gaps a while back. What should I use with these if I'm targeting bass or trout? I have some 5" YUM Dingers. Would this work for bass? Also, what about purchasing some Zoom Superflukes. Would this work with this type of hook/size hook? Would this be good for trout? Thanks.
  13. I found some Powerbait Crappie Nibbles? Are these like rubber? Or do they just dissolve off the hook over time?
  14. Thanks Tom. Do you mind linking one from Cabelas or BP? There are so many. Thanks man.
  15. The pumpkin seed in my local pond are tiny. Fit in the palm of your hand. Would a jig work for these? I dont want the kids to get snagged on the bottom though...... Goal would be to let the kids cast it out, and bait and wait. My son is already doing a pretty good job with a yum dinger & beetlespin. But when the bite is slow, its nice to put them on something/anything, and there are always pumpkin seed around.
  16. Also, what size hook should I use to avoid gut hooks. I have a few #14s. They are tiny. And a few #6s, but nothing in between. Should I get some #10s or will the #14s work? Im just worried they will wolf down the #14s.
  17. Good idea. Would a yum dinger work? I assume it has to have some sort of scent no? They wont just eat plastic right?
  18. When I use Powerballs for trout, they are rock solid. I can use them on the same hook for multiple fish. I can even reuse them the next trip. They are more like rubber which is great because they dont come off the hook. Is there something like that for tiny pumpkinseed or bluegill, that I can put on a #14 hook, that wont keep coming off? I love fishing with the kids, but putting on bait every 5 seconds gets old fast haha. Thanks.
  19. This is really helpful man, thanks. Weird though. The hook has got tons of positive reviews everywhere. But it makes senses what youre saying.
  20. These seem to be popular weedless hooks. I'd like to give them a try. What size do most folks use? Do you fish these wacky style? Thanks.
  21. Thanks for the help guys. Wachusetts is big hike for me given time commitments, but doable on a random weekend. I've fished Sudbury and although the scenery is great, the spot we were at wasnt ideal (pretty shallow, also tons of tree cover and kids kept getting snagged in branches). I dont recall exactly where we were (there was a football field at the entrance). I could give Sudbury another shot if someone knows of a better spot for young kids. Thanks!
  22. Thanks guys. Any other hot bass ponds in the area? I would really like to put my 6 year old son on a decent bass this fall.
  23. Im thinking how many people lose plastics etc. Doesnt this trash the environment? Also, what if one of these gets ingested and the fish gets away. Is the fish toast? I'm all for efficient fishing, particularly for food, but Im big on man + environment coexisting and preserving habitat for future generations.
  24. Would a 4 inch senko + 1/0 EWG gut hook less fish vs a 5"? How come. Here, these are the hooks.
