I wish, but there has never been a DD caught around here. Bass have been around for about 100 years, if there were DD's in the lake, one would have been caught by now. Even 7lbers. are very rare and are considered huge around here. I wish I lived in the US!

Nobody really cares for bass around here, except a few guys that fish for them. Alot people don't even know what a bass is. I would not gain anything by certifing the record. It's not like in the US where you can call a game warden to weigh the fish and even get a prize for a record. I would have to kill that fish to get it certified and that would be a shame. I rather have the memory of catching a fish like that then an official record. The thought of maybe catching that fish again is much more satisfying!
  3. Hast anyone tried this bait? The price is pretty steep! Are these lures made of balsa and how do they cast? http://cgi.ebay.com/Bone-Buckeye-Lures-Custom-WAKE-BAIT-NEW-Beaver-Lake_W0QQitemZ140219497474QQihZ004QQcategoryZ108161QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247
  4. What is the hungarian record? Which lakes/rivers hold bass? Average size is about 25cm, not very big but we do have some big fish. They are very rare and hard to catch! Caught this big fish today. I'm not sure how much exactly it weighed because I had problems with the scale but is was well over 3kg+.
  5. Welcome nacsa! Do you have bass in hungary? My favorite baits in spring are jigs, t-rigs and jerkbait. I also throw swimbaits.

I found a good spot this afternoon and finally was catching some good size fish (from shore). Caught nine in all, most of them 3-5lbs., good size fish for around here. They were again caught on double wide beavers and I got a smaller one on a evergreen side step jerkbait. 5lber. Then I caught what I believe is my new PB (my old PB is 7.9lbs). Not sure because the batteries of my scale were low and I kept getting different readings, anywhere from 7.2 up to 8.3lbs.??? :-X I took the pics with the self timer of the camera, so don't laugh at the funny position I got! ;D What do you guys think, could that fish weight 8lbs? If so, I got myself a new PB! 8-) I love those double wide beavers! 8-)
  7. Thanks for the info guys! 8-) I'm not much of a shimano fan. :-[ Are there any daiwas in that price range? What about okuma?

For me the Deps Sliding Jig.
  9. I'm looking for a reliable but not expensive swimbait reel (around $100). If possible a low profile with a gear ratio of about 6:1. Of course I'm also interested in round reels. The reel will be used for baits up to 3oz. Thanks in advance.

Congrats to your new PB. 8-)
  11. Managed to catch 14 yesterday. 8 were around 1-1.5lbs. an 6 around 2-4lbs. Also caught a zander with a jig . The fish were caught on t-rig (fat ikas and double wide beavers), jig (deps sliding jig with a paca craw sr. trailer) and shaky head (berkley power bait shaky worm). I had alot of fun, I just need to find the big girls now! Zander on jig.

    Where is the bait made?
  19. We don't have any grass carp. I'm glad we don't.

Has anyone tried this bait? http://www.osp-lures.com/products/yamato/index.html
  21. It's 100% not a carp, trust me. Besides, we only have common carp and the odd koi in the lake I fish. I think it's some kind of weird chub. If you find out what it is, let me know. Carp have barbels at the mouth (the fish in the pic didn't) and their backfin is different.
  22. Definately not a carp. I caught many carp, the backfin is different. Here's a carp.
  23. Caught this fish on a black LC spinnerbait. Don't ask me what it is.

There are alot of lakes but only 2 hold bass. I live near the lake that has the greatest population of bass. I just wish they would restock the lakes, there seem to be less bass every year. > On this map you can see how much water there is in such a small country. Switzerland covers 41'285 square kilometers of land (equals to 15'940 sq miles), whereas L.A. covers approximately 1'202 square kilometers (equals to 464 sq miles). California is almost 10 times bigger than Switzerland, it covers 404'653 square kilometers (156'297 sq miles). There is no state in the U.S. that comes close to Switzerland in terms of size. Switzerland is nearly the size of Vermont and New Hampshire combined.
