  1. Agree completely. I will choose lakes that have less traffic every time.
  2. Definitely agree with this. Ever since I put an Ultrex on the boat I have found that wind can make for some spectacular fishing. LOL. I have gone from tough as nails to soft as tissue, that's for sure.
  3. Well, me too. And yet I persist. This is the technique I will work on this year.
  4. Ok, you've set the hook so reel me in. I think of weather as the most important thing and you don't even consider it? Or is it that the forecasts just suck so you just play it the way it's dealt to you?
  5. I'm in with @Catt. I never pass a culvert or even a natural wash/drain. Doesn't matter if it's been raining or not. I fished on Monday morning and saw a natural drain on the side of a small cove. I threw a T-rig to the base of it and caught a bass. That's the only place in that cove I found a bass and the soil in the drain was dry, we hadn't had rain for days.
  6. I guess I'm starting to get soft as I get older. I have always felt like sketchy weather can produce some good fishing days. That's not to say I haven't had good days on hot, blue sky summer days, but I get more excited about fishing when it's not sunbathing weather. Now I'm trying to plan my fishing day for tomorrow (June 3rd) and I'm looking at the weather. The lake that I really, really want to fish (1.5hrs away) has sketchy weather and I'm starting to hesitate. It's not even bad weather! Just a chance of some wet. Then I look at another lake (1hr away) and it's a bluebird day and I'm tempted to go to a lake I don't really want to fish. Am I getting soft? Am I wrong about the fishing/weather relationship? When you have choices, how much does weather (not including dangerous weather because that's a no-brainer) play into your decision? Once again I'm overthinking and I should just be praying thanks for the blessing to be able to fish. Clarification: What I want to ask those that have been fishing for decades, does weather trump all other considerations for you? Have you found weather to be the most important "deal" when you head out to fish?
  7. Agree with @MN Fisher, 14lb Trilene would be good although I would choose the XL vs. the XT. I have a glass rod I use for medium cranks, squarebill, and lipless. I use 12lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid. I don't use braid for anything with a treble hook regardless of rod action but that is my personal preference.
  8. Scoretracker update: BigAngus has caught two fish back to back. Or back to front?
  9. Wow, the Omnia code works on Tatula SVs. Very rare that the Daiwa baitcasters aren't excluded. Thanks for the tip.
  10. Nothing like being on the water as the sun comes up and then catching on topwater for a hour or more. I, like many other, typically get up at about 3:30 to get to one of my favorite lakes before the sun comes up. BUT, this summer I'm going to switch gears and do quite a bit of night fishing once the water is over 80 degrees.
  11. Any "measure" is a random, subjective human design. Weight (or any other dimension), time, etc. is a construct of another person's thought. Why do you have to obey some ancient guy's arbitrary restrictions on your life? If you want it to be ten pounds, just declare the size of that particular fish to be ten pounds. Or make up your own unit of measurment. You can say that bass is 1 million Cameroniliters. This is what I explain to my boss when I'm late to work. I'm not late. He arrived at JoeO'clock while I don't have to be there until PatrickO'clock. Fantastic fish, by the way. Nicely done.
  12. It's Backwards Day. You're fine.
  13. I love the wind! I find a vegetation/rock combo on a shoreline with the wind blowing toward it. The closer to summer=the deeper nearby water. I put the nose of the boat into the wind and set the spot lock. Long casts into the weeds with vibrating jig, spinner, or lipless = guaranteed fish.
  14. I'm going to tell you this because you will find it if you continue your internet searches for an answer. I am NOT suggesting you do it. All current Ford systems can be manipulated using free, downloadable software called FORScan. It's very popular and you can use it to do all sorts of things, including turning on and off options you have or don't realize you have. It does work for shutting off the foot controlled liftgate on a Ford Edge. Here is the main issue with it....MANY dealers will declare your FACTORY WARRANTY VOID if they do a diagonstic and discover something has been manipulated with FORscan. Many dealers don't care. Ford DOES support those dealers that void your warranty for it so Ford won't rescue you if you lose your warranty. If you choose to use FORScan you should ask your dealer first. https://forscan.org/home.html
  15. Big deal. This is what the sky looks like every time I have a day off that I can fish.
  16. I fish several lakes like this. While not ideal for traveling long distances, the best way to get where you are going is to put on a good pair of polarized glasses and stand on the trolling motor. If you are using the big motor you are playing bumper pool whether you want to or not.
  17. If you end up becoming a life-long bass fisherman either one of those "combos" will end up in the back of a closet or corner of a garage as a long-forgotten relic that is worth nothing at a garage sale. Spend just a few more dollars and something as inexpensive as a $55 Daiwa Aird X and a $99 Daiwa Fuego CT will be something you continue to use or have as a backup even if you work your way up to spending several hundreds on a single rod or reel. The generally-accepted "do everything" set-up is a 7ft MH/F casting rod with a reel in a gear ratio of 6:1 to 7:1.
  18. Hey, things got much better here, it warmed up and stayed steady, the fish started getting on beds, I was catching plenty and having a great time...and then temps plummeted, we had several days of cold rain out of the north, and three nights with frost warnings. Guess what happened to the fish? Seriously, tell me. I wouldn't know because I've only found one since.

They're gonna need a bigger boat.
  20. Two green lights? Flashing or on solid? Why do you think they are not charging?
  21. Well done, sir. God bless you and yours.
  22. I tried Google Translator and got nothing...
  23. Retired LEO (28 years). I now work full-time running a tactical training complex (multiple shooting ranges, scenario training areas, defensive tactics gym, fleet of training squad cars) for one of the oldest police academies in the nation. Very blessed!
  24. My #2 was put up here by @Bluebasser86. The transitions from one kind of rock to another or seawall to rock are awesome. My #1, which is far and above anything else, is a concrete boat ramp. It's a no-brainer. Especially the private ones sitting behind a house that gets used twice a year. They are such good producers that I'll throw at public ramps even if they are busy. If I'm pulling up to unload and no one is waiting I'll grab a rod out of my boat and make some casts before I back the trailer into the water. It's an all-season target.
