  1. I'd pop one open and see what it looks like. Id probably put a drop of oil on bearings and such. Wouldn't think the heat would affect a quality grease.

It would be effective anywhere bass are active and will eat a topwater
  3. I think the slx and citica feel and fish similarly. The slx is just more compact which I prefer so I'd go that route. Both excellent reels for that money.
  4. I don't think any of the newer reels are gonna go 20 years period without some components needing replacement especially with little to no maintenance. I figure if a 99 dollar reel lasts me 5 years it's a win. I obviously have no way of knowing this but everything is that way anymore. A shimano slx will feel light years ahead of your old curado....in 20 more years that curado will likely still be trucking when the slx is long gone or has been rebuilt a few times.
  5. I've glued many inserts back in over the years. Super glue will work in a pinch but epoxy is better. I always use red building epoxy and have never had one come back out. Most are kinda less fitted in. Replacing tip is also a good option. I wouldn't send it back if it were me but definitely ur choice
  6. I keep one spooled with 15 lb and one with 20 lb red label. 15 for finesse jigs and light weight t rigs. 20 for 1/2 Oz or heavier weight t rigs
  7. The dedication has nothing to do with the species. That's all in the guy fishing for whatever species he prefers. Honestly probably not much different about it other than the gear and techniques. The fact that bass fishing has exploded and there's so much money involved these days is the only thing I could see setting it apart. That's what hooked me. I enjoy fishing and have always enjoyed bass fishing, but when I realized I could win hundreds or thousands of dollars simply by being the best on the water that day, the competitive nature in me came flooding out. Is kinda foolish to say "we" are more obsessed etc. Is what sets it apart. Plenty of fly fisherman and salt water guys that are just as obsessed with what they do.
  8. Wonderful reels that are built like tanks. Not the smoothest in the world and if ur new to casting there are better options to learn on. Depending on price...I'd take a serious look at a daiwa fuego ct. I've owned several e7 reels and I'd take the fuego or tatula ct over them. Much more user friendly and probably cheaper. Good luck
  9. I certainly agree. My wife's car has this and yes she's walked in to stores a cple times with keys in her purse while I'm left in the car with it freaking out. Definitely doesn't seem like a well thought out system at all. My truck has all the new stuff minus the push button start. I won't say I wouldn't buy a vehicle with it but I definitely don't want it.
  10. I used to pretty much mirror these thoughts. Now that Ive gotten used to modern technology I must admit I doubt I'll ever own another standard shift vehicle. Yes it's more to tear up but I figure it's a small price to pay for comfort. Each to their own. I do agree on the push button ignition tho not a fan of it at all
  11. Usually from the banks this time of year i like swimbaits i can fish a little deeper. If it's still that hot I'd assume a lot of the bass are in a little deeper cooler water
  12. Decent rods. If u can find em on sale I'd say go for it. At retail prices I think there are better options. I have some buddies that swear by em tho
  13. I've never felt the need to use it and honestly feel its pointless unless ur using some junk line. Of course this is my humble opinion
  14. I use 15 lbs spider wire stealth braid with seaguar red label leader on all my spinning gear. It's cheap and I've never had a problem with it. I never use line conditioner on anything either. Good luck
  15. When the bite is tough and the weather is hot here....our go to is drop shot and shakey heads fished slowly in 10 to 15 ft of water. All the places I catch them in cooler months I just back off to the first deeper spots and usually find some success. I sure the ned would work too but I haven't dialed that in enough yet to know for sure
  16. I would guess maybe the fish were holding up off the bottom. Where his jig or punch rig was being fished below them u were fishing the chatterbait in front of them. Or maybe the chatterbait just looked like a better meal to them.
  17. I fish em Texas rigged with 1/4 oz. Tungsten weights pegged and 3 to 4/0 worm hooks with keepers on the bend. Let's me crawl em on the bottom or thru grass or speed up and fish em over grass
  18. Check tacklewarehouse they have some good deals goin on right now on their clearance rods. Think the omens black 6'7 is 70 and they're great especially for that money
  19. I've tried most and went into it thinking I could find a cheaper alternative. All I managed to do was waste a lot of money figuring out the rage craw is my favorite. Money I could've used on more rage craws. I do like cabin creek Express craws on my finesse jigs. Very similar action to rage craws. Have had very good success with them
  20. 2017 ram 1500 hemi 4x4. Imo best gas truck I've ever owned. Pulled my last boat a Triton 20x2 like a champ and asked for more. My new Triton 18tx is so much lighter I cant even tell its back there
  21. Mine will get this way if I dont do much the week in between. I lift a lot at my job so if I'm doin my regular routine I'm fine. I think it just gets stiff if I dont work it out frequently. If I take a few days off and just lounge then go fish hard for even a full day my shoulder and elbow get sore. From what I've seen with my buddies having shoulder surgeries I'll deal with it all as long as possible before I'd consider surgery
  22. I've fished for 30 years and had never had nor been with anyone with a hook buried. Then last year...cousin swings on a fish with a jig and missed and it ends up buried to the bend in the back of my arm. He's like aw man I cant push that thing thru ur arm. I'm like yeah bruh u put it there ur pushing it thru. We push it thru and cut the barb off. A month later my dad loses a fish on a duo realis jerkbait and it ends up in the back of my foot. Used the braid pop trick and honestly amazed me that there was no pain what so ever...worked like a champ. 2 weeks later my dad buried one in his knuckle and once again the braid worked wonderfully. None in 30 years then 3 in 2 months but all were removed with no doctors or medical Bill's! Guess it could've been worse
  23. I have no way of knowing for sure but I broke off on hook sets many times using tatula reels. I dont remember ever doing this with any other reels I've owned. I've used the same line and rods for years so I've ruled those out. Sold all my tatulas and havent had a break off since. Again...just my experience as I know there are tons of people who absolutely love them. I like the fuego ct a lot myself for the money and it's the only daiwas I will own. I liked the tatulas but lost confidence in em. Pretty sure the fuego has always had the standard line guide
