Fury every day and twice on Sunday

50 dollars off any reel , what woulld you choose ?
I'd go with the slx or lews tournament mb. The daiwas are fine reels but they're too big, location of the brake dial is a no go for me, and not a fan of the t wing. The revo sx is also a fine reel. Love my slx reels tho lol

Tracker 2018 Heritage/2019 Classic edition boat
Had this exact same issue with my new Triton 18tx I just bought 2 months ago. On mine the space between the nut on the base and where the pedestal stopped was too far apart. The only right fix would have been new bases which would have been pulling up carpet and all that on a brand new boat. I took my pedestals to work and took an old pedestal and cut the threaded part off and added about a quarter inch in length and welded them back up. They work just fine but quite ridiculous to have to do this on a new boat or have them start pulling up carpet to fix.

Do you prefer to fish alone??
That's a matter of perspective lol. It honestly baffles me every time I catch q decent bass that there are really people out there that dont enjoy that

What is considered high end price range?
All is relevant to each individual and what kind of money they have and are willing to spend. I could afford to fish higher end gear than I do but I agree with bassthumb on the diminishing return. I also feel that if I buy a 400 rod and like it do I want to replace all my rods with that? I personally dont so I try to bargain shop and most of my combos are 200 combos. I've never felt the need to keep up with the jones' nor have I felt like the better gear would help me catch anymore fish

Bow mounted trolling motor issue?
I'd try a different battery just to rule out the most obvious first. I've had a brand new battery be junk before. Then I'd check all connections, if it has a plug I'd start there. Probably something simple just a matter of tracking it down

Do you prefer to fish alone??
I like fishing alone but I hate the drive and launch etc. It depends on who is with me as well. My wife or daughter or my dad I enjoy. I've taken several guys that ended up not so enjoyable

SLX gear issues
I'd say you're way outside the return period. I'm sure shimano will fix it tho. Honestly dont think ur gaining anything with the 70. From my experience the slx is a smoother reel and u could upgrade it considerably and still be way under the price of the 70

Looking for a new casting rod
I wasnt a fan of the e6x rods either. Lots of way better feeling rods at or way below their price. I'm really impressed with the new shimano slx rods and reels. The tatula rods are sweet as well. The dobyns fury is a rod that I feel performs way above its price and can be had for less than 90 bucks right now

Lowrance vs. Humminbird down imaging issues
This lol. I'm running garmin's but their down imaging isnt comparable to the new birds either. They're all great units but I do believe as a whole the birds have better imaging. I keep garmin's because they were cheaper, built in mapping, mounting systems etc. I'd say uve got what uve got so it's either use it or upgrade it.

Tatula CT vs. New Tatula 100
I personally much preferred the ct to the 100. Really wasnt much difference in palming the reels and the ct just felt more solid and I preferred it in every way. Plus they're cheaper so it was a no brainer. Both nice reels but I sold the 100 pretty quickly

Hard to figure out
Nothing about this year has made sense to me down here in the bluegrass state either. Everything that has always been consistent for me hasn't produced this year. All I can figure is the weather has just got them all kinds of messed up. Its aggravating but also fun trying to figure em out all over again

FL vs N LM Catchability
I would think this is likely the reality. I've never been to Florida but have studied it all and fished a cple places with fl lb. I dont think they're necessarily harder to catch, they're just more affected by seasonal variables than N LM. Makes sense I guess if they're by nature used to warm weather that cold would affect them. That's what sets lakes like chickamauga apart. They're hybrids that grow to the size of FL with adaptability of the N. That's my humble opinion anyway

Reel Line Capacity Question
I' I'll back this up as well. The only reel in my arsenal I would even give a thought about line capacity Is one I use for big glide baits and swimbaits. Dont care much even with it just dont want a crazy shallow spool. Otherwise I think it's way over rated. I prefer shallow spools for everything else as it saves me wasting a bunch of line I'm never gonna use anyway

powell endurance vs dobyns sierra micro
I've not owned the powell but my buddy has several and loves them. I've had a cple of the sierras I won at a tournament. They were ok but nothing special at all to me for the price. I've owned 100 dollar rods I personally liked a lot more. Between the 2 I'd go powell.

Lew's Bait Casting Reels
I dont buy casting reels with graphite frames. Used to and had to replace them every year or 2. Look around and you can find the speed spool for 80 bucks. Revo x can be had for 75 also and is a fine reel. I understand the budget but 50 or 60 for a year or 2 vs 75 for 5 plus years...easy decision. I recently scored a lews tournament mb for 67 bucks new on Ebay. Haven't seen them for that price since but just look around. Especially right now lots of sales goin on

Calling Aluminum Boat Anglers!!
I traded in my Triton 20x2 with a 250 pro xs this year for a new triton 18tx with a 115 pro xs 4 stroke. Obviously I lost some speed. This rig tops out right around 50. Gave up some storage. Gained amazing fuel economy. Gained being able to take my daughter fishing and not having to work at getting the boat in and outta the water. Gained less wear and tear on my truck. Love the 4 stroke. Super quiet and plenty of power. Had a few warranty issues with carpet coming loose around lids and steering helm had some noise that had to have anti chatter valves added...or so they said. Its quiet now so who cares. Overall I'm satisfied with the boat and dont regret trading the glass rig. It is lighter so gets blown around a little more but not as bad as I figured. It's not quite Lund build quality but it was considerably cheaper. I'm a welder and am actually impressed with the metal work and welds on this boat. I think as time goes on there will be a shift in popularity as companies continue to improve hulls and performance. I bought the Triton instead of the ranger because I knew the dealer and it's on my way to my favorite lake.

2012 Ranger Z518C vs New Nitro?
I would have absolutely zero issues buying a new nitro. I think they're the best bang for the buck out there. I couldn't justify an extra 20k for a ranger tag and some better quality seats. My issue would be this....I traded my triton 20x2 with a 250 pro xs earlier this year for a smaller aluminum Triton 18tx. Made more sense for me and my family. I love the aluminum rig but it took a cple months to get all the kinks worked out. Loose carpet on lids, noisy steering helm. Point being, if your ranger is solid and you like it I'd hang onto it. I'm satisfied now but I'd be lying if I said I didnt regret the heck out of it while dealing with the quality bs. I'm a firm believer there is no "quality" in anything we buy these days. 70k boat and 50k truck and you'd be the exception if you didnt have problems with both. Not acceptable at all but it's the world these days.

Tracker Pro 170 (2016) & Trailstar Trailer - Long Haul Ahead
Sounds like you have done your research. As suggested I'd check after the first cple hrs and if all is good I wouldn't worry about it. Make sure you have a spare and proper tools to change it. I routinely pull my Triton 18tx 70-75 on interstate with no problems. On wet or rough roads obviously adjust accordingly. Its good to be prepared but dont stress about it. If you did the bearings properly and the tires are good you should be just fine! Good luck

First Follower & Strike on Swaver 168 - Thoughts?
I got turned onto the s waiver last year. Using the I know it color. I caught a 3 lb bass on the first cast. I proceeded to fish it and got to noticing I was having several followers. A cple of which were good fish. So...I was left wondering what to do to get these fish to commit. I was slow rolling it and started adding a few quick twitches then killing it. Had a 5lb fish follow it and I killed the bait a few feet from the boat. Fish had its nose right up against it. I let it sit for a second or 2, twitched it twice and killed it again and that fish absolutely annihilated it. Ended up catching 10 that day and 2 over 5 lbs. I'm convinced they were interested enough to follow it but the twitching and killing it was what triggered them to eat it. Good luck!

World Record Bass
Everyone can debate it til the end of time. That's part of the lure around fish of that size. Congrats to anyone that's caught anything close to that size. I've bass fished for close to 30 years and 7lbs is my personal best. Cant imagine one that could basically eat a 7lber lol. Everyone can debate it til the end of time. Have Neko/Ned rigs replaced drop-shotting?
I agree. I'd still take a buzzbait over ploppers and think I always will. I also have a hard time fishing neko/ned rigs in my local waters and I've caught enough on a drop shot that it's still my favorite finesse tactic

Going back to basics
That's awesome! I'm as guilty as anyone of being sucked into the latest and greatest. I was thinking a few days ago about all the fish I used to catch before I thought I knew how to fish and I've quit throwing a lot of those baits altogether. I'd suggest in the conditions you described to really give a drop shot, shakey head, and ned rig a real workout. Drop shot and shakey head have always produced for me on tough clear water lakes

SLX gear issues
Yeah I'd send it in. I have several and have had no issues. It "feels" a little different with a load on it and I figure this is the lack of bearings in places and bushings instead of bearings. Nothing that I've felt alarmed about tho I've been blown away by these little reels

frog rod and topwater under 100$ each
I'd recommend the shimano slx rods in the length and action you want for each application. As for the frog rod, I've found it's a lot more about leaving slack in the line than the tip to get a frog to walk easily. Frog fishing is my favorite technique. I use a 7'2 med hvy jig/worm rod. Its stout but has a lil softer tip
