  1. Thanks. Makes sense and a great opportunity. I guess I need to buy another dedicated setup for this, right.... Appreciate your insights.
  2. Hello. Hoping to leverage some experts on the forums while learning more about my local lake (quarry, No California). After dry spell, landed a nice 4 lb largemouth. To my surprise, 3 other bass - including a huge girl- followed to the shore. They swam around until I released, then back to the depths. Any idea why they were exhibiting this behavior? Is this part of spawn or post spawn. Seems a little late for spawn, but a few seemed to be bedding. Maybe a second spawn. Any insights appreciated. Prior forum searches were unfruitful.
  3. For $100 range, I seem to go back to my Daiwa 1300 ss. I love the retro feel of the reel and still my favorite drag. Simple, no frills but a solid performer
  4. Yes, thinner. Needle point really sticks them. I have caught at least a hundred fish on these hooks.
  5. I use st36 size 2 for 110 plopper. Works great, my favorite hook.
  6. I cannot justify a 45 min drive to my local BPS. Last time I went, only house brand hooks in stock and spotty inventory selection. Online customer experience has surpassed big box stores experience. And for what I would pay in gas, shipping cost easily covered. Not to mention they seem to only want to push their house brands. I asked why so much was out of stock, and they told me they hold stock replnishment a few weeks before inventory counts. No surprise they try to keep inventory lean, it is an unfortunate pressure for all publicly traded retailers. But taken too far, brick and mortar stores will not survive.
  7. Back to back on a Tokyo rig.
  8. Old thread, but my fav color is mowed grass. Just wish it came in more sizes.
  9. Sprayed Grass...amazing color for all conditions. Swing jig head.
  10. I use a swivel to prevent line twist if the body spins instead of the tail.
  11. Best cheap rod I have used on sale for $40 at Dick's. https://m.dickssportinggoods.com/p/lews-carbon-fire-spinning-rod-17lewacrbnfr6ft8mrod/17lewacrbnfr6ft8mrod?camp=CSE:DSG_pg53220_mk_PLA_454&gclid=CjwKCAiAlvnfBRA1EiwAVOEgfN7LBiHnowlsFA5zkXSi6xCpZV-bYAN8v81M8vrmge5viBxSQi6OHxoCjZcQAvD_BwE
  12. Looking for a versatile rod that I can use from shore or boat with Winn style grips and no micro guides. Halo Back widow caught my eye, but info is limited as it is so new. Anyone try this rod yet?
  13. At my local lake, it is a ned rig with Roboworm ned worm. Always bring a few..
  14. I also traveled 40 mins to my BPS and was shocked they did not have WP75s. Others have had for a few months. My family gets me gift cards for holidays, so I will use them. But will not shop there with my money - they seem to only push their house brands and inventory is always out of stock. Even Dick's has the 75s online.
  15. Mine too. Cashion frog rod on the way.
  16. I am also debating cashion and dobyns xc champion for a frog rod. Would also be interested in some opinions.
  17. Looking forward to trying this. Will get a few once in stock.
  18. In my younger years, I would fish with a spinning setup with weightless watermelon seed zoom u tail. Very seldom was I skunked.
  19. If you have a dicks nearby check out the Lew's Carbon Fire. Nice rod with Winn grips. Go on sale for $50 occasionally.
  20. No. I use watermelon seed sprayed grass. Will give this a look.
  21. This is my favorite Zoom color. Wish they offered it in the u tail worm. Looks great in the clear quarry waters near my house, especially with a clear sky.
  22. In my local quarry, drop shot flukes, roboworms or ned rigs. Finesse is only thing that works.
  23. Thank you. Just ordered a 3000. Tight lines!
  24. Has anyone tried this reel? Thinking of picking one up, but reviews and feedback are limited since it is so new.
  25. Hello. My new to me boat is being stored about an hour away, close to the waters I will be fishing. Want to upgrade trolling motor to gps enabled unit(Motorguide). Given the distance, was considering having local shop install it and run new transducer. Curious what I can expect for labor costs - just a ballpark figure. Located in California. Thanks for any thoughts.
