For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Interesting to hear you say that. I am new to Wyandotte lake and just my overview of the lake made me think the south side with all that vegetation would be worth checking out. I've only been over there twice now (plan on going back much more often) and each trip hit the big cove right across the lake from the boat ramp and did pretty well there. Anything else you'd suggest trying there this fall? Hope to get my wife or 8 year old son out there with me. Thanks!

Decent, cheap rubber boot
First off, I had no idea in which forum to post this so if it needs to be moved that's totally cool. Needed some advice and figured someone could point me in a good direction here. I am looking for a pair of just below the knee rubber boots, primarily to get in the water when launching my boat at a few different lakes around here. Since I only plan on using them sparingly I do not want to pay much for them. Comfort is not so much an issue compared to traction as I expect to be on slick 45 degree boat ramps in the water lots of times. I saw these on sale for $30 at Academy. Is this a good buy or is there something different you'd point me to?

South side of the lake?

I hope/think you are right. It gets to the point that I do not want to head up in what I'd consider "prime" boating times.

Personally I am a big fan of the KVD/Mustad short shank triple grip model

Would this outboard have enough power?
I have a 14 foot jon boat that I have converted to a bass boat. I have a 40 pound thrust Minnkota foot controlled trolling motor on it as my only source of propulsion. While I do not take it on any larger/rougher bodies of water I have been thinking about getting an outboard to get from point A to B a bit quicker. I came across a good deal but I just don't know if it would be powerful enough to make a difference compared to my trolling motor. It is a 4 stroke 2 HP Honda motor. In no way do I have any plans of flying around the lake and I don't want to over power a small boat like that. Just curious of opinions as to what your thoughts are or if I should look for something bigger?

The latest sale thread
If this happened to me a second time the fault would be on me for ordering from them a 3rd time...

Recommended Hook For 10” Ribbontails
I have thought about trying an Owner Twistlock for something like this but I have always been concerned that it would collect grass and other gunk on the head because of the design versus a standard t-rig. Am I wrong? If not I do not know why you wouldn't do this 24/7.

Spooling up reels yourself
Hmm, would this also work on a BC reel? Just turn it upside down or something?

Spooling up reels yourself
I'm getting tired of running up to Bass Pro every time I need to put line on a reel and want to do it myself. What do I need to do it myself? I'm envisioning a not too expensive device/machine versus sticking a pencil throw the line spool or something. Anyone have some recommendations?

I was actually in that one Friday. You see some interesting people in KCK so I can believe what you say LOL

Man I would have given about anything to see the lady's behind the deli counter when you handed her a pink 5 pound weight and asked her to weigh it for you!

How often do you make those all blue chatterbaits and what would you want for one shipped? I like the look of this LS Facebook fishing page! Any other ones on either side of the state line I should check out?

Rudder for jon boat
Yeah, I could make something like that. I'm just surprised something like that isn't more readily available. Especially when I bought one off the shelf before.

Yeah, I had heard that about the walleye there. I put my boat in for a bit Saturday evening and found a large south side area that none of the boating crowd goes near. I was interested in it because there looked like there was a lot of structure (lots of trees, lots of different depth changes and lots of grass surrounding the banks) and obvious targets to focus on but that was my question - was the lake worth it or not. I think I will have to try Jacomo more and I've heard some good things about Watkins Mill just north of Kearney. Back in the day the KC Star used to have a weekly fishing report, other than this page is there any other public forums or info as to where the largemouth are biting locally? I know of a lot of local lakes but now that I am no longer stuck on the bank I want to get to some different bodies of water. Problem is with limited time and an 8 year old son that loves to fish but has a short attention span I need to do research and make sure I make a smart choice as to where we should go.

Been thinking about hitting Longview for large mouth bass. Driving by it have seen some good looking spots on the south side but having never fished it I don't have any experience with it and wanted to make sure I was not wasting my time. Anyone got any experience on Longview?

Rudder for jon boat
Yeah with my schedule right now I would rather buy something and not have to take the free time to make something when I could be out fishing. This has to be a problem a lot of people have, I have looked all over the internet and have not found a single thing. Wish I had kept hold of the one I had. It was real simple, it clamped on to the transom like a trolling motor does then had a rudder that kind of looked like the flag on a mailbox that just sat in the water.

Geez, did you buy a WP 190 or something? Or throw it on a Walmart Barbie rod?

Bought the exact same model this week! Have taken it out twice so far and it seems nice. Being my first unit like this it is a lot to take in and play with but I like the possibilities.

Rudder for jon boat
I've got a 14 foot jon boat that I have a 40 lb thrust MinnKota foot controlled trolling motor up front. A lot of times my rear end will want to swing around on me or when I come to a stop it will kind of swirl around a bit. I used to have a 9 foot plastic 2 man boat that clamped on to the back of the transom, would something like that help in this situation? If so where could I find one? I looked around online and the only thing I could find were ones that mount to the trolling motor up front and I don't think that's what I need. Any ideas?

What part of the lake was all that thick grass on? I was out and around sailboat cove yesterday and didn't see anything like that.

Shimano SLX
IDK about the not spending much part. I have a buddy that works at BPS and he says they show in their system at $199.

Probably a rookie question...
Had FC on. So I was ticked and set it down. Got back to the dock and picked it up cussing it out and it was working perfectly. I don't understand but I tried for at least 90 seconds to reel it and the handles spun around normally and the eyelet went left and right like normal but the reel refused to take up line. Weird.
