What's your take on a Shimano NASCI 2500/3000?
I know everyone has there own opinion so take it for what it’s worth. But I’ve had and fished 3 different nasci’s and each one has been flawless! They get hard use, little cleaning and stay incredibly smooth and just flat out preform. Highly highly recommend them

Ever been pleasantly surprised?
I upgraded all of my rods and reels in the last 2 years. Mainly nrx’s and glx’s, a few exprides and 2 imx pro’s paired with chronarch mgl’s, bantam mgl’s, metanium mgl’s and stradic fk/fl/ci4+. I help my dad and buddy with two set ups more budget friendly. My dad got a stradic fk before the fl was released and paired it with the daiwa tatula lt. For the money the rod is super light, great balance, exceptional sensitivity! I was very pleased. my buddy got his first casting set up. Sold him my old zillion rod, and paired it with a fuego ct and once again incredibly impressed. Best beginner reel in my mind. Smooth, super easy to tune, handles and feels very comparable to the daiwa tatula sv I had. Casting distance was great!

What’s in your hands and in the water most of the time?
Nrx 853c with met mgl, 30lbs power pro with 15lbs invisx leader. With a few baits being used on it, but if I’m just looking to catch fish anywhere then a 5” senko.

Opinions on G loomis NRX 852s JWR
The nrx 852 has become my favourite spinning rod by far. It’s unbelievably sensitive and light but a significant amount more power then expected! It’s my favourite senko’s rod for sure. Never throw drop shot but sure it would work for heavier drop shots. Works well for tubes, shakey heads, heavier neds, awesome neko rod, weightless flukes!

What is your cut off point/price on rods and reels?
Coming from long range precision shooting which happens to be an extremely expensive hobby I found rods and reels to be a breeze to buy. Not that they aren’t expensive but I’ve always believed in buy once cry once motto from my shooting so I applied the same in my fishing. My most expensive set up is 1500 but average is probably closer to 800-1100 range. This is canadian though so our prices and dollar is much different. The 1500 is nrx with met 2020. Average being 1000 range lands me glx with ci4,

Which line for deep cranking?
Hey everyone, getting my first deep cranking set up for 6xd, 10xd, deep-six ect. Rod should be here in a week or two, reel in trying to finalize decisions but I’m curious which line to spool up? Somewhat partial to sunline for fluoro, so thinking shooter, sniper or assassin? Any thoughts

In your opinion
I’ve had the dobyns Sierra, avid x and e6x. I actually liked the e6x the best but that’s against the norm for most people. My particular e6x has been fantastic. I’ve fished other models of it and it was mediocre at best for its price point. In general I think the avid x was the best of the 3 from model to model.

How many “main” setups do you have?
I have 13 set ups I believe, normally have 5 at a time on deck with me just depending on what time of year it changes. I’d say I couldn’t live without 1 spinning, probably my nrx 852s, 4 casting set ups. Frog rod, cranking bait rod, a universal rod and a jig rod. Specially my 884c, 845c, 853c and 894c

Looking for a couple replacements
Well I picked up the 7’2” expride yesterday. So one down. Chronarch mgl will he mounted on it! now something to replace my 7’6” heavy envy.

Bait Caster for Finesse
I used a glx 852c with a chronarch mgl and can throw anything on it with no issues. I even play with nrx 853 for a lot of finesse applications with the met mgl. The 852 is a sweet rod for finesse, loads of power but super light and sensitive.

Shimano expride or Dobyns champion extreme
Unfortunately I’ve never fished or handled the extreme, but owned some sierra’s and fished the champions. They dobyns are nice rods, balance well but are heavier then I like. The imx pro’s I find more sensitive, but also a bit more technique specific. The exprides I find lighter and more sensitive then both. I’ve since sold my dobyns rods, and still have 2 imx pro’s and a couple exprides. Highly recommend the expride

Looking for a couple replacements
dobyns and kistler are pretty much out. Nobody near me carries it. I can get most other regular. 90% of my rods are glx and nrx. But wouldn’t mind trying megabass rods. About to order a launcher for deep cranking, and wouldn’t mind 1 or 2 more to try, that’s why I was looking for a universal and maybe a good bottom contact c-rig and t-rig rod. Thinking maybe Valdivia for the 7’6” replacement and 7’2” expride for the universal

Looking for a couple replacements
Well I just sold off two rods and got one more that might go. First one sold is the dobyns seirra 734c, second was a 7’ m/h fast kistler helium lta, third might be 7’6” envy black heavy extra fast. now I’m looking at upgrades. to replace the 734c, I’m thinking 7’2” m/h expride with a chronarch mgl. I’m trying to think of a megabass that might be comparable? Rod will be used for spinners, charters, paddlertails, underspins, smaller top waters probably. Mainly just a universal moving bait rod. second/third rod is the envy black. The rod is used now for t-rigs, c-rigs, dragging footballs in deepwater or thick cover. The rods not bad but unsatisfied with 13 fishing as a whole so want something different. Once again looking at a 7’6” heavy expride, or a megabass comparison. I’ve never tried megabass. any suggestions on high end t-rig/pitching rod, and a high end moving bait/universal rod? I’ve got almost everything else covered from ultra finesse, finesse, jigs, cranking, frogging ect.

First deep cranking setup. Megabass f5 or f6
Thanks everyone, I believe I’m going make the 2.5 trek to go get both rods in hand on friday. If not, I’ll be ordering the f6 for sure! Very excited to get this set up.

Deep cranking gear ratio
Thank you everyone, I’m going go to my local store and handle the tranx, but if not then I’ll grab another bantam if I prefer the feel and go with a 6 gear I think to be safe.
-
Deep cranking gear ratio
I’ve been trying to do as much research as I can on deep cranking but my question is I’ve always read that you want a slow gear ratio for deep cranking. But more recently I’ve been hearing you want to burn your deep crank back, or a speedier retrieve at least. So would steeping up to a faster gear ratio save you from wearing out on burning it back im looking at a bantam mgl either 6 or 7 gear ratio?

First deep cranking setup. Megabass f5 or f6
Thank you

First deep cranking setup. Megabass f5 or f6
Well that’s nice to know! The 5xd is 5/8 I believe. That’s kind of the limit I’m hoping for. I’d like to throw 12-15’ range minimum, then as deep as I can get it. Just never fished deep cranks before. I can’t seem to find the launcher of the 968cbr

First deep cranking setup. Megabass f5 or f6
I was debating on the 968. I have an 845 cbr and love it. But don’t own any megabass yet and is the reason I debated it. how do you feel it handles on its low end and it’s high end? 1/2oz-2 1/2oz seems like a massive window

Braid, causing no bites?
even my spinning gear. Either straight 15 lbs braid, or 15 lbs braid with an 6-8 lbs leader
-
Shimono curado K
I have 1 curado k, 3 chronarch mgl’s, 1 bantam mgl and 1 met mgl. All run either braid or braid to leader and I get 2X the casting distance with braid or braid to leader then when I ran straight fluoro.
-
Braid, causing no bites?
I’ve primarily switched too pp braid for everything. I’m even trying it on my squarebill this season. I do use leaders on my drop shot set up, my lighter jig set ups, my tube set up. So my spinning all have leaders except 1. 15lbs pp to 8lbs seagur leaders. My casting are mostly straight braid, with the odd leader. 30-50lbs pp

First deep cranking setup. Megabass f5 or f6
I’m about to pull the trigger on a deep cranking rod. Looking at getting my first deep cranking set up. I’m mainly a g loomis guy so naturally I looked there but was told the megabass deep crankers were next level. So I’m looking at getting a launcher. Still deciding between f5 and f6. Going to be throwing a bantam mgl pg on it. 20lbs sunline sniper and try my luck. Any suggestions between the two rods or any other suggestions? Only other one that even crossed my mind was the 7’6” zodias glass. Just like the low end lure rating for trying mid depth to big deep. The f5 might not hand the big ones, and the f6 might be too heavy to handle the small

Anyone else hate super slick
Unfortunately I don’t/remember. Like I said I normally just use regular pp but he recommended it so he spooked it up
