G. Loomis IMX Pro
I currently own 1 e6x, 2 imx pro’s, 3 2016 version of the glx, 1 nrx and in the market for a second nrx as we speak. The imx pro’s I feel are a fantastic rod. Comparing them to my expride, champion, envy black, daiwa zillion, kistler helium lta (oldest first gen helium) I feel they are an good value, excellent sensitivity and balance! Still one of my favorite rods

Reel for crankbaits?
Thank you. I’m definately set on shimano. I have 1 13 fishing, 2 daiwa, 5-6 shimano’s I think and they are by far my favorite. Like I said as long as balance is okay I’ll be leaning towards another Curado K, and if not then chronarch mgl

Reel for crankbaits?
I’m going to go back with another 6 gear ratio just haven’t decided which reel

Frog rods: long or short?
Unfortunately I think it all depends on the user, and the ponds/lakes you fish. Everyone has a preference. I use to fish frog on a shorter rod and worked fine. I now use a 7’4” rod and prefer it. I spend a decent penny on it so the balance is good, weight hasn’t been an issue and I can bomb a frog twice as far as I use to be able too, hook sets are stronger, land ratio has been better! You can really move the fish with a longer rod.

Reel for crankbaits?
Thank you everyone. I’m defiantly leaning to a 6 gear ratio. I never deep crank so no need for a 5 gear ratio and don’t usually fish heavy weeded lakes so probably don’t need a 7 gear ratio either. going try and get a few different reels on the rod to feel balance. It’s going be the k or chronarch mgl

Reel for crankbaits?
Thank you. I’m leaning towards the curado K as I have one now and love it. My favorite all around reel is the chronarch mgl and if I can find one on sale I’ll probably go that route

What is your favourite reel in your arsenal
Might be changing my answer! Yesterday I picked up a bantam mgl xg and boy is that sweet! I haven’t fished it yet but threw it on my frog rod, tied on a 1/2oz jackall karea and was tossing it in the yard. Wow it is crazy smooth and bombs that little 1/2oz frog!

Reel for crankbaits?
I was debating the curado k, curado dc or another chronarch mgl as I have so many and love them. The rod is fairly light and figured the chronarch might be a better fit but at the same time might be nice to get something a little cheaper and a true work horse. I have one and have been pleased but love my chronarchs

Reel for crankbaits?
Last year I bought a 13 fishing concept c for my imx pro 845c cbr throwing mainly squarebills. The reel is... okay at best. Sure I can really launch it but I’ve never seen anything more finicky. I am a shimano guy and would like to replace it with a shimano reel. Which shimano casting reel have you guys had luck with for squarebills and lipless? Stick with 6 gear ratio or try something else? Was told the 7’s are nice for lipless and squarebills for ripping them around weeds and such?

Reel dilemma
Thanks everyone for the help. Ran out today and picked up a bantam mgl xg, spun up 50lbs power pro, tied on my favorite frog (jackall karea) and dropped it on top of my imx pro 884 twfr and boy does it ever feel sweet! Can’t wait for water temp to rise so I can play around with this combo. moved the chronarch over to the nrx, spun up 30lbs power pro to 8lbs leader for now tied with an fg knot and throw a t-rigged senko on it for now. The rod balances beautifully, and feels great!

How much do you spend on your reel vs your rod
I’m a little bit of both. I’d say on average my rods cost more now as I just finished upgrade. most expensive spinning right now is stradic ci4+ at 319.99 canadian most expensive casting right now is chronarch mgl at 379.99 Canadian but a bantam on the way 459.99 Canadian. my rods average at 475. Most expensive being nrx 679.99 Canadian lowest being a dobyns or envy black at 300

Reel dilemma
Holy lord! Makes me wonder why they wouldn’t have brass gears when curado k, chronarch mgl and bantam all do. Also has me thinking why the chronarch mgl isn’t equally impressive as the metanium. I love my chronarch mgl’s and have been told to just stick with them instead of stepping up to the Mets. But curiosity is getting the best of me Awesome thank you! Maybe I’ll try the bantam first as I can get a deal on it right now and wait on the met till much later

Reel dilemma
bit of a bantam fan I see lol what was the reason you switch from metaniums to bantams? You talking try the chronarch on both rods to see which one it feels better on and buy a reel for the opposite rod? Didn’t think of that lol

Reel dilemma
So I have 2 rods and need 1 reels. Right now I have a chronarch mgl on my imx Pro frogging rod. I just acquired an nrx 853c and an expride 7’ lite+ spinning rod. Wondering if I should throw the chronarch on the nrx and grab a bantam for the imx pro, or keep the chronarch there and grab a metanium. I need a ci4+ for the expride. Eventually ill I’ll be getting all three reels but either the bantam or the metanium will have to wait a while. Wondering which would you get first

Shimano rods
I’ve fished a few of the older crucials and they were good rods no doubt. The only shimano I have now is an expride and I haven’t fished it yet but holy crap it’s probably one of the nicest feeling rods I’ve ever held. Can’t wait to fish it
-
Ultimate senko rod
So why don’t you cut it in the middle and try the nrx 872s? 7’3” medium extra fast. Kind of in between the two
-
Next Rod Decisions
i would probably sway towards a medium or medium light depending on the brand. Example would be a st.croix I think a medium light would be perfect. 6’10”-7’2” will cover 90% of the more finesse side. St. Croix naturally fished a touch heavier then rated. Other then that I would probably lean on the medium side of things. Allows you to throw jerks, small cranks, flukes, senko’s (nonexposed hooks), yet still double down for drop shop and shaky heads. Would even make for a decent little topwater stick, smaller jitterbugs, poppers and such

Dedicated rods
I got a little excited and decided to get a bunch of new rods last year and have technique specific rods. I prefer technique specific rods, having to retie baits every 15 mins becomes a huge pain! I have 1-2 rods I use for a few different things but majority are specific. drop shop ned rig frog jig finesse jig t-rig/c-rig crankbait

Best rod for crankbaits?!
I fished the IMX Pro 845 cbr hard last year and was extremely pleased with it. It’s rated as a medium heavy but it’s a light medium heavy or a heavy medium moderate fast! Super light, well balanced, and hook up ratio was excellent! Was extremely pleased

First Higher end rod help!!
Haha I keep forgetting that. In Canada the exprides are hard to find in general but super easy to order. And the stores that normally have them always have them in stock! To be 100% honest I would consider stepping up a hair more and going to a glx 843mbr. Just super versatile. I love the glx’s!!
-
First Higher end rod help!!
Out of the list I would be leaning towards the kistler and the expride. The 7’2” medium-heavy expride would be a wicked all round rod. Light, powerful and sensitive! Feel great in the hand. If I was going kistler I’d lean more towards the helium 3.

Nrx 853c
Unless it was a straight trade I can’t imagine selling. to sell, and purchase another I’d loose a few hundred for sure and can’t imagine that on an unfished rod!
-
Nrx 853c
How does it fish smaller kietechs on a swimbaits head, or topwater like popper or a rover/spook? I’d be willing to keep the rod if it handled them okay, cause it might make a nice rod for docks and skipping
-
Nrx 853c
Well my 894c covers most of my jig and t-rig applications, and my 852c covers my finesse jig and larger shaky heads. I was hoping the 893c could be for senko’s, flukes, and larger tubes and stuff in deeper water. I don’t fish a ton of deeper water stuff though, just told the 893 is a little better then the 853. The other trade is the 852s as I need a good medium power spinning rod. I have a kistler helium medium heavy fast that is similar to the 853. I have most of that covered with the 852c, kistler helium (which I would consider selling) or the 894. Wondering if the 853 excelled at anything other then what it’s labelled for (jig and worm). It was an impulse buy as the price was good, but really wanted the 852s or 893c

What is your favourite reel in your arsenal
Spinning would be ci4+ casting right now is the chronarch mgl
