coloring braid
Do to my my getting older, I really hate to admit that one, my vision just ain't what it used to be. As a line watcher, I lose dark colored lines, they blend in very well with the surroundings. After KVD came to our store and spoke on this topic, I started using hi-vis braid on my jig and texas rig rods. I color the last 10' or so with a black, chisel tip, Sharpie. Works great for me as I can see my line now and I haven't noticed a decline in my catch rate at all.

Who watching the bass master classic?
I'm checking in on the Classic from time to time throughout the day.

H2O Xpress lures
I agree with everyone else, these are excellent baits. I own a ton of them. Like "Brett's_daddy" said, best house brand bait made. I don't change the hooks or split rings either.

Backreeling with a spinning reel
My dad taught me to back reel back in the 60's and I still do from time to time just to stay in practice. Usually I let the drag do it's thing.

Fishing Kayak?
For a $600.00 price point, I would look at the Future Beach/ Field and Stream kayaks at Dick's/ Field and Stream, a Heritage at Academy or one of the Accend kayaks at BPS. I've owned a Field and Stream Angler 144 before, good kayak. Sold it to a friend that still has it. My wife and I each have Accend kayaks and love them. Hers is a 10', mine is the 128t. Both good kayaks although mine is a bit heavy, but super stable. Another close friend has a Heritage and loves it. Do try out the seats. As mentioned above, it's important!

You know you are obsessed with fishing
When you speak to your Pastor about fishing......in church, on Sunday morning. Thankfully my Pastor is a angler too.

bps cranking stick?
The new Platinum rods seemed to have replaced the Titanium's, although they are a little more expensive. The Titanium's were discontinued not long after the Platinum rods and reels came out. Not sure if the Carbonlite rods are really being pushed, they're just at a good price point. I'm a huge P/Q fan as well. I don't have any P/Q 2's yet, none of my originals need replacing! I tend to take care of my stuff. All reels get a good cleaning and lube at a minimum of once annually.

BPS Spring Sale
Dirtyeggroll, I'm off today, but one of the guys called me at home. We received 105 more this morning. I don't know what lengths, powers or ratios though. It wouldn't hurt to call your store. I don't know how we ended up getting more? Question for you, how do you get the @name sign?

BPS Spring Sale
FishDewd, You are correct. BPS mothership told all stores that sale combos can not be built in store. The only combos that can be purchased at the sale price come to the stores pre-built. The ad states "limited quantities, no rain checks. We started the sale with almost 500 combos, 500. Sold out in 2 1/2 days. Not to say that a store manager couldn't go rouge and do it, but they won't if they like they're job. A report is generated every day tracking those things. BPS mothership could reverse their decision, that's up to them. At our store, like yours and all others that I know about, we're not building combos at the sales price, no matter how nicely you ask.

BPS Spring Sale
To be completely honest with you, I don't know the answer to your question. The Formulas are 10 bearing reels, all of my old P/Qs are 7 bearing. Those Formulas sure are smooth though. When I left this afternoon, we had sold out of the Formula spinning reels, had six baitcasters, all 6.6:1 righties. Once the classic is over, I'll try to get you an answer.

BPS Spring Sale
Medico22733, I got your message and replied. I've never looked at the internals of a Carbonlite reel as I don't use them They, BPS mothership, tell us they are the same. I do use the Carbonlite rods, in addition to the Patriots. I use the Pro Qualifier reels and can tell you that when we sold the p/q combo's, they were identical. I know this is apples and oranges, hope it helps.

BPS Spring Sale
"Reason", No Zoom this year. First year that Zoom hasn't participated. I know what I've been told as to the reason, but I'm not a liberty to post it. I like my job way to much to lose it over a post. "FishDewd", You can trade any reel or rod (spin-cast, spinning, bait-cast, even fly). You don't have to trade "kind for kind". In example, you can trade a spin-cast in on a bait-cast. Like "The Fisher" noted, the amount of credit you get is based on the rod or reel you purchase. The more expensive the rod or reel, the more credit. Look at page two in your flyer for the chart. If all you want is a Carbonlite rod, it will qualify for a trade in. However, the Carbolite COMBO noted on the cover for $119.97 DOES NOT qualify for a trade in. It's already priced at 50% off.

Fishing Jeeps?
I had a 2007 Jeep, 2 door soft top. Mine was lifted six inches. I just bought those foam kayak mounts that go between the vehicle and the yaks. You can get them at BPS/ Cabela's, Dicks, Academy, etc. Our problem was one of injuries. Do to work, I dislocated my shoulder years ago, my wife tore her rotator cuff. I was also blessed with arthritis in both hips, knees and lower spine. Anyway, between flipping yaks and our old canoe up on top of the Jeep, one of us was always re-injuring ourselves. I bought one of those Harbor Freight/ Northern Tool 4X8 utility trailers and converted it to haul the boats. Your most likely younger than us, hopefully without the injuries. The foam things will probably work fine for you. Look at 4WD parts online. They used to sell a rack for soft tops, but it ain't cheap!

BPS Spring Sale
At our store, the sale starts on the 16th. All rods and reels must be in working condition and are supposed to be checked when taken. We are told that a tip could be broken, but not any further down the rod. Also told that everything is refurbished donated to various charities/ organizations. There will be $5.99 reels to purchase to trade if you don't have one.

Aluminum Bass Boats
In 1997, I bought a new Nitro 640. It had a 75 horsepower Force. Great motor and boat, never gave me any issues what so ever. That being said, those outboard haven't been made in years. Like slonezp alluded to, parts will be an issue. I'd pass if it were me.

Fishing fathers
I won't say that they share my fishing passion. I will say that both of my boys are still fishing well into adulthood. I raised both of them fishing every chance we had. My oldest (37) is an accomplished guitar player that still fishes some. My youngest (26) is making a career in the Coast Guard. He still goes out kayak fishing when he can. My 3 year old granddaughter loves to go "fishling" with her pop-pop! Her pop-pop loves it too.

Curious Scenario :)
I'm a Veteran and retired Law Enforcement, I refuse to watch anything NFL related. Fishing is what I would pick, even without the other issue. That being said, I'll probably be at BPS selling fishing stuff.

Thanks Volzfan59
On the Potomac, Did you get your new rod yet? What do you think?

A gift for a troubled kid
Throughout my career in law enforcement, this has come up time and time again. All most kids need is our time and our love. This young man knows that you love him and that you care. Well done.

Thanks Volzfan59
Sorry Sam, With all that's going on here, I forgot to reply to you. I'm going to catch up my father-in-law's maintenance list today and was making a list last night. Anyway, Going to an LSU home game is actually on my bucket list! I heard you guys go nuts. I want to go to a Mississippi State home game too. My wife is a huge MSU fan. I know at UT, the atmosphere is electric. The tail gating is unbelievable between the RV's, Vol Navy and for real gaters. It's always fun and there's good smallmouth fishing in site of the stadium. I do my best not to be an obnoxious TN fan, served me well the last few years. While not a Tide or a Gator fan, I can appreciate tradition and a good ball team when I see it. GO SEC!
-
Thanks Volzfan59
Thanks, I really hope that you enjoy the rod. In my VERY unscientific test, that only had me holding one of my old Carbonlites vs a new one. The new 2.0 feels lighter, but who knows at this point. We have all the new rods in stock, just no specs. I promise you it's lighter than your old Extreme! Sorry for the delay in my reply. I'm in Gulf Shores, AL. My father-in-law has bone and lung cancer and is in a rehab facility. He's not doing real well, but nothing imminent. My wife just wanted to see her dad for one more Christmas season.

bps cranking stick?
If you haven't stopped fishing for the year, try it and see what you think. What one guy loves, others think it's junk.
