  1. WRB and islandbass, I did have something. I deliver auto parts part time for a small, family owned auto parts chain. I deliver only to dealerships and garages. It's not BPS management money but I really don't care. My wife and I are both blessed to have really good pensions after over thirty years each in law enforcement. BPS basically paid for my fishing. Sounds crazy, but at this point I really don't care about the money. For the guys talking about the time shares, it's only going to get worse except it's now credit cards. That's the main reason I walked. Since the Cabela's purchase, credit cards, excuse me, Club Cards are now the focus. All associate's, in each department, are required to sell c/c's. All managers are required to ensure that associates are selling c/c in addition to selling them themselves. All associate's have a quota. Before I left, customers were complaining about being asked 4 or 5 times if they wanted a c/c. I agreed with the customers. I had two problems, four actually. None of them will make sense to some of you. 1. I don't believe in credit cards, heck I don't believe in debt. To many people get in serious trouble with debt. Proverbs 22:7 speaks to it. I personally refuse to have anything to do with them. Sadly, people have to have mortgages and car payments, they don't have to have c/cs and BPS sells nothing that they have to have. 2. I absolutely refuse to make an associate do something that I won't. Even when I was in L.E., I wouldn't make my guys do something I wouldn't do or hadn't done myself. 3. I won't be given a quota. I never had quota's in over 35 years in L.E., believe it or not. 4. When I hired in, selling c/c was never a requirement. Gear guards were. When I spoke to my supervision, I was told it was non-negotiable. I guess I agreed. Before you say anything, I realize they are 100% within their rights to require employees to do things, including selling cards. I'm just not going to be a part of it. Thanks for the good wishes!
  2. In the past, several folks have messaged me about various Bass Pro Shop products or to ask questions about sales, rewards, return policies, etc. I wanted to let everyone know that I resigned last week. I was not fired, given the option to resign or anything like that. I simply resigned. I absolutely hate that it came to that, as I really enjoyed working there and loved my coworkers. If anyone has product questions, etc, you can still ask and I'll try to help you. I still have numerous friends that work there. For now anyway. Most are looking for new jobs. It's just not the same BPS that I hired into several years ago.
  3. I'm going to Academy this afternoon. Thanks for the post. Academy's line of crankbaits are by far the best house brand cranks I've ever used.
  4. Several years ago I was dehydrated and didn't know it. I knew that I didn't feel good, just didn't know why. Long story short, while walking my hound dog one morning, I got crazy dizzy. Felt this weird white hot heat coming up my spine. Next thing I remember is waking up lying on the road after passing out. After a trip to the E.R. and a rocking weekend in the hospital, found out I was dehydrated. Hopefully that never happens again! I've never been a big water drinker, but I make myself.
  5. I am so very sorry for your loss, and that of his family and his department. My wife and I are both retired Law Enforcement. We've been following the news. Blue, be careful out there brother.
  6. 1. When the waiter/ waitress come to take my order and say "What are we having?" or "Are we having desert?" I've asked "Are we both paying the bill" before. 2. People trying to tell me how to talk. I love taters and 'maters!
  7. You are doing a great job! Thanks for sharing your progress.
  8. I smallie fish in the rivers around here. I use Strike King Bitsy Tubes. T-rigged, 1/0 Trokar or Gamakatsu hook with an 1/8 oz. hook.
  9. I do not, but I'm not a big fish eater. As long as they are legally harvested, I have no problem with people that do. I have given bass to people fishing from the bank that looked like they needed some help.
  10. I used to haul my canoe on a trailer. I dislocated my shoulder years ago, my wife tore her rotator cuff in her past. Every time we flipped the canoe on our Jeep, one of us ended up hurting. We now haul or kayaks on a trailer. Makes life so much easier.
  11. I've got several packs in black and green pumpkin. BPS closed them out. Anyway, they look great, seem to preform as they should. My issue is with the eyes, they pop off. I thought that I had super glued them all back on. Yesterday, after returning from Chickamauga I noticed that anothrr eye had popped out. For what it's worth.
  12. Recently there have been some webinars on Bass Pro's website concerning electronics. Lowrance pro, Mike Delvisco was one of the instructors.
  13. Come on Sam......that cuts kind of deepl
  14. I use in line spinners from time to time. I've started using Joe's Flies Spinners around here.
  15. Keeper, Excellent read on the tournament waters. Couldn't have said it better. I've never used that ramp, just driven through the parking lot. It was just the closest ramp I could think of to Volunteer Landing and Thompson Bowling. I could see the city/ state improving it before March however. I retired from a local Sheriff's Office, I'll ask some KPD and Knox County friends to let me know when they hear. I'm sure the planning meetings will start soon. I know a TWRA Officer, I'll ask him next time he's in BPS.
  16. There is a boat ramp a mile or so down river from Volunteer Landing. I think it's called Gov. Ned McWherter/ Riverside Landing Park. It's a fairly nice ramp with good parking. I won't be at all surprised if Knoxville doesn't make it nicer/ wider before next March. The Pro's can fish Ft. Loudon or Tellico Lakes (connected by a canal), the TN River, the Holston River up to the I-40 bridge or the French Broad River up to the Hwy 168 bridge. From what I heard, no locking through to Watts Bar but I'be not read it anywhere.
  17. Check Kelly's Blue Book for your boat. You might be able to find it there. They used to list the various models.
  18. I carry several 360 boxes in mine until now. After reading Darren's reply, I'll be dropping a 360 or two, and adding a spare prop and pin. My T/M battery is mounted in a front compartment. This will sound stupid, but when I had my ChampioN bass boat, I carried a spare outboard prop and a t/m prop. I built my own t/m and micro-pole mount for my yak. Never even thought about carrying and spare prop for it.
  19. I color it because I can't see the green braid in the water. Even with bifocals, I can't see the line. I use hi-vis yellow or orange so that I can see my line above the water. Hopefully the fish can't see it as well under the water. A-Jay, I saw your U.S.C.G. Retired. My youngest son is nine years into his career. He's an MK. That child loves the Coast Guard!
  20. I use a large, chisel tip, Sharpie to color my high vis yellow and orange braid. Have been for years. I haven't noticed a change in my catch rate at all.
  21. I'm a huge Tennessee Volunteer fan, always have been. Birthday year is 1959.
  22. Sam, I was hoping you would see this! Geaux LSU, Geaux Saints!!!
  23. I really thought it was Christie's Classic when he went into day three with a five pound plus lead. Just wasn't his day. Hope it doesn't get stuck in his mind.
  24. Makes all the difference in the world. If you want, use a leader or like I do, color the last ten feet or so with a black Sharpie.
  25. Make sure that your watch matches the tournament director's watch, or the guy's on the check in boat if there is one. That simple thing cost me and a buddy once. If I remember correctly, my watch was off by two minutes with the directors, we were late checking in. I remember showing the guy my watch. He showed me his and basically said his litter box, his rules. I got a little mad at first, but he was right. I guess with cell phones that may be a mute point now, but I still use my watch. Don't want to be fumbling around with my phone. "Riverbasser" is right, time flies in a tournament.
