Any word on a newer rod company
It's pretty much just the trigger part of a real seat without anything going below your reel. I personally hate the feeling of them, they just don't feel durable or stable. If you want an example look up an Abu Garcia Vendetta or Bass Pro Johnny Morris Patriot series rod (I would've bought this rod if it wasn't for the reel seat).

Jig and occasional frog combo?
yep its a jack of all trade rods, I absolutely love it. I've even used it in saltwater a couple times and it's held up well... to the water at least, yet to catch a striper on on it.

Any word on a newer rod company
No problem... I definitely liked how they felt and they were really light, but the model I would've got came with the 2 piece reel seat and I just can't stand that reel seat. Some their other models have a Fuji ECS reel seat which I would've been fine with. They will for sure be in my mind when I'm looking for my next set up (although the Kistler I just got may have made me a loyal customer...)

Jig and occasional frog combo?
Another rod to look at would be the Okuma Scott Martin TCS 7'3" H/F... I got it as a frog rod and i have used it for jigs and swim jigs, light flipping, and small-medium sized swimbaits. I absolutely love that rod, I don't think they get enough attention. It can be found on Amazon for about $100-$110, that's a steal imo.

Any word on a newer rod company
Saw them at the New England Fishing Expo up here in Massachusetts. If I remember correctly they were run by a retired veteran (don't quote me on that) and he was a very nice guy. Gave my dad and I some great information on the company, they just picked up some pros over the past 1-2 years actually. The rods were very light and if I had to guess, probably pretty sensitive. They weren't very fancy or anything, a plain blank and no crazy colors or anything. Some rods used WINN grips and others were cork (all split grip)... the rods in their line up are very technique specific (for example they had a 6'3" MH/F casting rod meant for skipping). I did enjoy the rods and i was very tempted to buy one, but I couldn't stand the 2 piece reel seat. Otherwise they felt great and were extremely light and comfortable to hold. Check out their website if you haven't yet (they do custom rods as well). That's all I can give you -Harrison

2018 Tatula Rods......
The orginal is on Amazon in only some models for $120 I believe. I was looking at the 6'10" MH/F, price will differ with different models probably. Can anyone give some insight as to whether these new Tatula rods are better than the originals? People rave about the originals and say it fishes way above its price point. I can get the original for $120 and the 2018 for $100.

Winn Grips or Cork? What do you prefer?
I think I am going to go with cork for now, full handle, because if it starts to deteriorate I can always order winn grips (not the wraps) and watch a Youtube video on how to install it. Or just send the rod in. Either way I can replace the cork easy enough later on. What exactly do you request to make sure you get a quality cork? Like AA or AAA or just say cork? This is my first time doing this. Thanks for all the replies! ~Harrison

Winn Grips or Cork? What do you prefer?
Hi, Looking at getting a custom rod done, 7' MH/F. Can't decide on Winn or Full cork... if I get Winn I don't know if I want split or full yet, but if I get cork then it will definitely be full. If technique will help with your decision, it'll be for t rigs/jigs/spinnerbaits/chatterbaits. Just an all around rod. -Harrison

Okuma TCS Scott Martin Rods
Anybody that’s interested: The TCS Rods are now 25% off with the Bassmaster Classic sale! I think I’m gonna pick one up myself ? actually, all Okuma rods and I’m guessing reels too are 25% off? Does anybody know why this is? I think I read somewhere they separated from Savage Gear (didn’t even know they were together) would this have something to do with it?

Okuma TCS Scott Martin Rods
Scott Martin’s rod is the only one I’d be willing to try from favorite, especially if he’s using them in tournaments and stuff and they clearly work well. And if he was part of the developing process of it then it would probably be a pretty good rod.

Okuma TCS Scott Martin Rods
Yeah I agree. I’m hoping with him leaving Okuma though, that his rods go on clearance. I will gladly pick up a few on clearance.

Okuma TCS Scott Martin Rods
Yeah he already did, not sure how I feel about that. Worse gear, but better popularity and exposure for him. I like your profile pic btw, rip LP. Oh and about the rod, I have the 7'3" H/F frog/swimbait rod. Does both of those very well and imo it has pretty good sensitivity and makes a decent jig rod.

Not a single person has this rod? ?

Daiwa Tatula Elite 6'9 Skipping rod question
Hi, wondering if anybody has this rod and what are your thoughts on it? Im curious about it's lure rating and whether is can really go down to 1/4 oz or not. Is it's lower end more like 3/8? Any heavier than that and it's not really an option for me so I'm curious. Thanks!

Lews speed spool LFS vs. SLP
I have the Lew’s Custom Inshore SLP and it’s just a salt water version of the Custom SLP. I personally love that reel and I have slightly small hands and I feel the SLP fits my hand well. You could probably find the Custom SLP for about 120-140 on eBay, but the tournament MB lfs can be had around $100 on eBay and so I would take that any day.

Lew's Custom Lite (HM85) vs ALX IKOS
I sent in my Custom Inshore SLP in just to get in cleaned up a bit and they replaced 7, yes 7, parts free of charge. I think that’s pretty d**n good Yeah I’m just not a big fan of micro guides... if the Daiwa Kage rods had a model under 7’ that was a MH/F I would get that for sure. Really like those rods.

Lew's Custom Lite (HM85) vs ALX IKOS
I agree as well! Have had great customer service with Lew’s

Lew's Custom Lite (HM85) vs ALX IKOS
Love lew’s reels, just have no experience with their rods. I’m yet to try a Kistler, I plan to eventually.

Lew's Custom Lite (HM85) vs ALX IKOS
Looking for a 6'8-7' MH/F casting rod for lighter jigs (1/4-3/8), t rigs (3/16-1/4 oz), and some spinnerbaits/chatterbaits probably too. Looking at "shorter" lengths because I want to use it as a skipping rod too, as well as use it in my kayak that I'm getting soon. Would get a Tatula Elite but they don't exactly have the right rod. Same with the Levante, the 6 power tour versatile seems like it would be too much for my intentions. Zodias was my main choice at one point, but I just couldn't bring myself to buy one. Never could pick the right model, the 6'10 MH seemed right but the lure ratings say 3/8-1 oz which seemed too heavy and the 6'10 M was rated 1/4-5/8 or something like that, but I wasn't sure it would have the backbone for pulling one out from under something after skipping.

Lew's Custom Lite (HM85) vs ALX IKOS
I was considering some more expensive rods, Kistler Helium 3 for example, but I've decided I don't need to spend more than $150-$200 on a rod to get solid and sensitive one. I'm 15 and rather hard on my equipment and the cheaper I go on the rod, the more tackle I can get in general. I'm lucky enough that my dad helps me out with buying a lot of my gear, but still can't spend a ton by any means. I was considering the Curado rods for a long time, but a lot of what I read said they were rather heavy and not the most sensitive. Somebody on I believe TT said that it felt like a baseball and he couldn't break it if he tried. Now I know this is exaggerating, but there are many reviews that say they are heavy. Do you have any personal experience with them? Also the reason I'm considering the IKOS and not the ZOLO is because I wanted to customize it and I can customize an IKOS for less than $200 and still be getting a really solid rod.

Which mojo or premier to buy?
I would take the Mojo, the newest generation (third) is built on the SCIII blank, same blank as the avids. Obviously there's a little more tech in the avids, but it is still the same blank. I've heard good reviews of the third gen mojos.

Lew's Custom Lite (HM85) vs ALX IKOS
Just simply: Which do you believe is better if you have experience? Lot of people seem to say that the IKOS are the best rod at this price point so I'm guessing that's what the majority of the votes will be for. Some really good reviews on the Lew's Lite and they are both at the $150 ish price point. Have a great day -Harrison
